Nerdy!!! Thank you for that tweet from President Obama. I’d missed it, and really appreciated seeing it tonight.

And it’s all about me, as you know! ❤

This virus has laid bare the inequities in America that has always been there…it is now in your face..THE GOP is not interested in doing anything about making the structural changes needed to address those inequities…that is why McConnell is putting on the breaks in terms of legislation…another reason for Trump to lift the stay at home orders…trying to normalized the deaths and the infection …trying to make it an US vs THEM thing

Fear of contracting a deadly disease and possibly dying is no excuse to request a mail in ballot!!! We need a ballot sent to everyone. Period. Then we need to vote these SOB’s out with that ballot.

“When former Vice President Joe Biden was vetted by the Obama team during the VP search in 2008,
a “deep-dive” investigation didn’t turn up a shred of evidence to support Tara Reade’s new allegation
    against the former VP.
In a piece for CNN, former Obama strategist David Axelrod wrote,
“The comprehensive vet certainly would have turned up any formal complaints filed against Biden
during his 36-year career in the Senate. It did not. The team would have investigated any salacious rumors of the sort that travel far and wide in Washington. There were none.””

CAUGHT ‼️ However, I promise you the media will not make this news a story. No, they will keep on the Bring back Bernie or Biden needs to be transparent or blah, blah, blah. Assholes!

    • May 2, 2020 at 1:26 pm

      Please note:
The “3 staffers” say Tara Reade made no such complaint to them = Zero complaint of harassment.
–We can assume Reade was lying. (c/o Chris Hayes)

    Life can be surprising…
Such as encountering up close a (very charming) psychopath…now a family member is dead.
Or an in-law damaged by someone charming who turned out to have a talent for duping and destroying reputations to advance herself. A masterful manipulator who (in retrospect) took huge criminal risks.
Victim was doing everything to lift her up and didn’t see it coming. She’s still out there fooling people in high places. They will not realize what they’re dealing with until they get in her way.
Hummer’s account reminded me of this:

    Congresswoman Val Demmings;
“The point of the U.S. Postal Service is right there in its name. It’s a service, not a business.
Its purpose is to bind us together as one country.”

    • May 2, 2020 at 2:21 pm

      Did You Know?
The U.S. Postal Service is not losing money because of Amazon.
It’s losing money because in 2006 the Republican-led Congress passed a law
forcing it to pre-pay its pension for 75 years,
      which no other corporation does.
This was meant to bankrupt it so it’s business could be privatized for profit.
Without this law, the Postal Service would be turning a profit.

        Why do Republicans hate America?

        • 44 Obama Grandmama
          May 2, 2020 at 10:11 pm

They want to privatize everything to run for profit. Prisons, Medicare, schools, fire departments, police, the military, and whatever is currently government run is what they want to privatize. They want to control pension plans and take over any federal money.

Yes they are going to keep coming, and let them come. First it was the business about Joe Biden’s son and the Ukraine mess, and now its the sexual assault allegations that turned about to be a bunch of bullshit. We are going to keep fighting no matter what they sling.

And thousands more will die. People can see. They will know who’s responsible. Most will care, some will never. We have to keep focused on the facts and engagement of people who have had enough and will vote to put an end to it. There is no time to engage the crazies

Can you imagine what resources were used to vet then Senator Barack Obama for President? Just imagine the C.I.A and the Justice Department and even agencies that don’t have names investigated President Obama. And I’m not even talking about the Republicans and their deep pockets, but ever intelligence agency in every country where we do business were used to vet President Obama. So spare me the bullshit about Joe Biden not being vetted sufficiently.

    • May 2, 2020 at 4:55 pm

Exactly, and yet they fell into a coma when it came to the creepiest fraud of all, Trump.

      • May 2, 2020 at 6:14 pm

THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A NATIONAL PLAN…Instead of the chaotic Hodge podge of actions…and now some governors seek to hide the Truth…and Trump wants to prevent Dr Fauci from testifying in front of the House

Ha – My “thrill” didn’t last long. Still love any song from Ray Charles, but apparently the SNL shows in the ’70s, which we thought were new and fresh and great and having hysterical characters, back then, aren’t so much a BFD at this point. At least from my perspective!

    Trump called her a ‘dog.’

    Among her responses:

“This past week, Associated Press photographers documenting the era of COVID-19 were dispatched to chronicle a single theme: “Our Majestic World.” The goal: Capture a changing landscape that contains few — if any — humans and showcase the things that, for this moment in history, have taken their place. “Take your time,” these often in-the-moment photojournalists were told. “Work the light.”

Time was taken. Light was worked. The result is this collection of images, unlikely documents of a world on pause — at least, much of the human part of it.

In New Hampshire, a Baptist church and the shops alongside it sit underneath a twilight sky, unbothered by their people. Inside Beijing’s imposing Forbidden City, home to generations of emperors and shuttered by the virus for the moment, a bird is the only sign of animal life visible.

In Russia, during the city’s lockdown, the Moscow River seems like glass. In Washington, never has the reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial reflected more purely. Near Soria, Spain, sheep flock on an empty road, unworried about traffic, unbothered by humanity. And along the rocky shore of Narragansett, Rhode Island, a single yellow beacon pierces the blue mist at the edge of a land whose humans are, in huge numbers, sheltering in place, awaiting a more crowded future. ”

    Goodnight TOD.

  49. May 3, 2020 at 8:26 am

    GM TOD….

watching those crowds yesterday scared me to no end….i am so afraid that we will reach that 100,000+ people dead mark…and who will care…

I am so afraid that my daughters…my mom..my siblings and other family members …and that includes me as well could be included in that number…

i believe that Trump and the other Governors can talk about relaxing stay at home orders because they are convinced that because the greater amount of people who will die are the marginalized…and the compromised and…that we are expendable people

nothing says that more than Trump mandating meat packing plants and like as essential industries and they must stay open

the folks in the meat packing plants are black ..brown…immigrant
    We are all expendable people…

Robert Reich wrote a piece about Trumps 4 point plan to restart the economy at the expense of people dying…
not surprising that he does not include racism and white supremacy as a factor…

    here are his 4 points

    What can we do…

This might be a good time to go vegetarian for a few months

I so agree with you Sheila. I am glad one of my sons is in Malaysia. They are still on lockdown. They can’t go further than 3 miles from there home and no more than 2 people in a car. Also all schools are being taught online.
