With you 100 percent on that. Haven’t watched hardly anything political since that show this morning and may continue that through at least the weekend. She was a disgrace. This week alone, I’ve stopped watching Morning Joe, Chris Hayes, and Ari Melber. I’d already stopped watching Chris Hayes, but occasionally slipped. No more. If trump wins in November, I’ll blame them first on the list of conspirators.

I was not fun of Mika questioning Biden this morning either. She never question Trump like that. This “Me Too” B.S. really have gone to darn far. Yes a woman has a right to come forward and be heard, but not assume she is telling the truth because she is a woman. What about the man she accuses, what if he is telling the truth. So now this woman said she didn’t come forward when Biden was VP because she had a little daughter. Not buying it at all. I’m still with Joe Biden.

“Atlanta Isn’t Ready to Reopen—And Neither Is Georgia”
“As the mayor of Atlanta, I’m unable to endorse the governor’s decision to reopen businesses before health experts say it’s safe to do so”. (Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms)
“Reopening the state and relaxing social-distancing measures now is irresponsible and could even be deadly…
And while staying at home may be inconvenient for many people, there is nothing essential about going
to a bowling alley during a pandemic.”
–Mayors across Georgia were denied input in Kemp’s decision to reopen their state.

    • May 1, 2020 at 1:09 pm

“Remaining silent during this crisis will not protect us.”
“We should also recognize that many of the kinds of businesses that are reopening are especially popular in African American neighborhoods, where barbershops and hair salons are ubiquitous. This concerns me because we continue to see much higher rates of infection and death occurring among African Americans than in other communities. I and other mayors recently signed a letter addressed to President Trump, urging states and other entities that receive federal funds to collect and report race and ethnicity data
by zip code in real time.” (Mayor of Atlanta)

  18. May 1, 2020 at 1:12 pm

    Mayor of Atlanta:
Georgia is “one of the last places to close down and one of the first places to open up.”
    MADDOW:
“I’m worried that he’s (Governor Kemp) not going to feel any pressure to try to increase testing numbers in Georgia, because testing numbers might reveal bad epidemiological consequences of his policy decisions.”
MAYOR LANCE BOTTOMS: “We are still 40th in the nation at testing…
There needs to be contact tracing, there needs to be isolation and quarantine…
And the reality is if people are going back to work because they need money, and so that part is right, our economy is suffering and people are facing economic hardship. But I think this when we step us as leaders, and we lead our community into recovery, and we make it easier for people to stay at home, by making sure that those small business loans are getting into the pockets of not just the people who have well-established banking relationships, but the barber on the corner who may not have as lengthy of a credit history, we make sure that people have food on their table. These are things that we are doing in Atlanta.
These are the things that we need to be doing statewide, and certainly at a national level.”
    See: (https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow/watch/atlanta-mayor-governor-s-decision-to-reopen-georgia-baffling-82853445747)

  19. May 1, 2020 at 1:14 pm

“In a normal world, we could look to the president of the United States and receive sound, practical advice. Instead, we have to caution people not to ingest and inject their bodies with household cleaners.”
    (Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms)

More than 60,000 Americans are dead.
CO Senator Gardner, using international diplomacy, has secured 100,000 COVID-19 tests from South Korea
and two million total masks from Taiwan masks for America. Due to gross competition between states, other nations, and the federal government, all is now under lock and key under the watchful eye
    of the National Guard.

    • May 1, 2020 at 2:55 pm

Why did Trump create a nationwide life and death competition during a global pandemic?
      I think we know…
Trump and cronies, corrupt oligarchy, weakening the government,
      making it dysfunctional, laissez-faire capitalism,
      allied with white nationalists.
The more dysfunctional and chaotic government is…
the more power and $$ go to him/them.

    First cheesecake,
then Senator Schumer and Colbert discuss the COVID-19 response lack thereof.
Schumer saying we must listen to medical experts and not open too soon or this new virus will “come back with a vengeance”. Every successful country did vast testing. If we did the same we could better identify who has been infected. Schumer saying if Congress must re-convene in person, let it be for action on COVI-19,
such as small businesses, unemployment checks…but No. Get this.
McConnell is bringing back members of Congress in person (and risking infection) to get his protegé and friend (rated unqualified by the Bar Association) on to “the second highest court in the land”.
(Why don’t they just say No?)
On the allocation of the next 2 Trillion care package Schumer prioritizes
    1) making elections fair safe and free, vote by mail and in-person voting.
    2) hazard pay for our heroic front line workers who are often paid very little.
    3) taking care of state and local governments, now going broke due to the virus, we must prevent layoffs of police, firefighters, hospital workers, etc. (We need them more than ever.)

Will we stop him or just let meat packers keep dying? Instead of using the DPA to insist on the manufacture of desperately needed testing materials, Trump is using the DPA to force meat packing plants to stay open.

The last paragraph from Ta NaHesi Coates’ piece ..The First White President-
pay attention to the last line

…. It has long been an axiom among certain black writers and thinkers that while whiteness endangers the bodies of black people in the immediate sense, the larger threat is to white people themselves, the shared country, and even the whole world. There is an impulse to blanch at this sort of grandiosity. When W. E. B. Du Bois claims that slavery was “singularly disastrous for modern civilization” or James Baldwin claims that whites “have brought humanity to the edge of oblivion: because they think they are white,” the instinct is to cry exaggeration. But there really is no other way to read the presidency of Donald Trump. The first white president in American history is also the most dangerous president—and he is made more dangerous still by the fact that those charged with analyzing him cannot name his essential nature, because they too are implicated in it.

      worth reading again
