Good morning, TODville! Nerdy, as always, thank you!

This aging thing is something else! Friday, I felt like making Eggrolls and Moo Goo Gai Pan. This is a task that used to take max of two hours from prep to plate. Started Friday evening, did a little each day, and have finally finished today. Ran out of Eggroll skins. Phone calls to all of the supermarkets netted negative results. I’ll freeze the mixture and pick them up next time I go to the Asian market in Philly…

    Have a Blessed day, y’all!

For what it is worth: I read a long thread early this morning @TheCounter. Explaining in good detail how this is not true, at least shortages on a large scale. The bottom line from what I read was this is the companies—and the media—creating a shortage.

This is why I buy local. I’ll be picking up our 1/2 cow next week, I get chickens and turkeys from the Hutterites, and pork from my friends who have pigs. Fresh eggs every Thursday. Also a farmers market every Saturday, winter and summer. I am very fortunate to live in a place where this is all available. I feel very lucky.

Watching the press continue to normalize Trump..to help him get re-elected…

    and By The Way…

the reason folks are eager to rescind the “Stay At Home” order is because the majority of folks who are dying from the virus are blk folks…..#NuffSaid

    • April 28, 2020 at 3:15 pm

and i suppose no one wants to believe that Trump and his people want Americans to die…

The press cannot see that Trump needs division in order to win elections…

Trump will order meat plants to stay open, even as many become coronavirus hot spots, source says

The president will use the Defense Production Act to head off growing disruptions in the nation’s food supply chain, a person familiar with the matter said. At least 20 plants nationwide have shuttered after covid-19 outbreaks sickened thousands of workers, forcing steep drops in beef and pork production.

My family and I won’t be visiting any movie theaters or malls or restaurants any time soon, you ‘d have to be a complete dumbass to do so.

I stopped by my local 7-11 to get some provisions, you know, two hotdogs and a big gulp. These two young punks come in the store with no masks on. I was pissed, when I got the counter I told the clerk “these assholes walk in the store without masks on,” I said it loud just so they would hear me, my son was with me. Went we got back in the car, he says to me “dad, everything bothers you, you don’t like nothing.” It finally hit me, I’m one of those dudes that’s always angry. So now when my son gets something to drink in the house he ask me “does it bother you that I’m getting something to drink?” I’m just a fifty-something year old guy to be ridiculed by his sarcastic son.

    • April 28, 2020 at 6:04 pm

Yeah, but it’s not everything that bothers you. It’s people who don’t respect the mandate and the courtesy and respect for life to wear a mask, people who don’t care about your heath and safety. That is not some cranky ass whine, that is dire. People who don’t take this seriously are going to die. It’s like THAT. I think it’s our job to make people understand this but that is now just a ridiculous task when you have a clown government who couldn’t care less.

      Carry on, Don.

      Don,
The name of the game of life is for teenagers to find things to criticize their parents about. Sometimes it is easy to find something. Sometimes they have to work hard to find things. If they don’t find fault they may have no reason to leave the nest when the time comes.
I remember when both my daughters asked me why I had to talk to store clerks? They rolled their eyes like my pleasant short conversations were the most embarrassing thing in the world.

The Impact of COVID-19 on Women Town Hall.
Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton begin their discussion:
    VP Biden:
“Millions of women have lost their jobs, have had their hours slashed, and are facing worries about just making ends meet. And millions more women are on the front lines as healthcare workers, doctors, nurses, sanitation workers, childcare workers, grocery store clerks, workers who are more and more carrying on their back the rest of the nation. Domestic violence survivors are at a heightened risk, forced to shelter in place with their abusers. Women’s access to reproductive health care is increasingly in jeopardy.
This virus can hit anyone, anywhere, regardless of race gender, economic status or level of power. It doesn’t impact every community equally. It hits hardest those who are most vulnerable and have the fewest resources,
including women of color and low income women.
    This pandemic is pulling back the curtain on so many inequities in our society;
the lack of paid sick leave for workers, the need for livable minimum wage, the need for stronger unemployment insurance. We’re going to dig into all of these issues and more in today’s discussion, and I’m really thrilled to have my friend and former Senator, former Secretary of State,
a woman who should be the President of the United States right now, Hillary Clinton.”

    • April 28, 2020 at 9:49 pm

      Secretary Clinton:
“…I am thrilled to be part of your campaign, to not only endorse you but to help highlight a lot of the issues that are at stake in this presidential election. As you just so rightly said, this terrible pandemic that we’re all going through hits a lot of Americans much harder than others. We’ve seen it firsthand in hospitalizations and unfortunately, fatalities, but we’ve also seen it when we look at the pictures of those people on the front lines. Do you know 80% of all healthcare workers in America are women, and one out of three jobs are held by women in our country has been classified as essential. So this is an issue that effects all of us, young and old, every kind of background, from every walk of life. But it is having a disproportionate impact on the front lines, on women working, on women caring for others, on women holding down the home as we go through this together.”

    • April 28, 2020 at 9:51 pm

“So I want to add my voice to the many who have endorsed you to be our President.
Just think of what a difference it would make right now, if we had a president who not only listened to the science, put facts over fiction, but brought us together, showed the kind of compassion and caring that we need from our President, and which Joe Biden has been exemplifying throughout his entire life. Think of what it would mean if we had a real president, not just somebody who plays one on tv, but somebody who gets up every morning worried about the people he’s responsible for, leading during his crisis. Well I know what a difference it would make because I’ve been there. I’ve seen firsthand what presidents can and should do. And I, like so many Americans, wish that we had that kind of leadership now.
You know Joe Biden has been preparing for this moment his entire life.”

    • April 28, 2020 at 9:53 pm

“I’ve been privileged to work with him over the last 25 plus years as First Lady, then for eight years in the Senate where I watched him build coalitions, and work to bring people together to solve problems.
Then during the Obama Administration when I was privileged to be Secretary of State.
I’ve been in the Situation Room with Joe as we debated. And you know, where we didn’t say what we thought people wanted to hear, we said what we believed. And we had a president then with President Obama who encouraged that – think of it – who wanted to hear from each and everyone of us!
I’ve been in the lobby of the Senate, I’ve been in the cloakroom, and I’ve watched Joe bring people together. So for me this is a moment that we need a leader, a President like Joe Biden.”

    • April 28, 2020 at 9:54 pm

“I also know a lot about Joe the person. I’ve seen him up close and personal now for many years.
We have a lot of the same values in common, the same work ethic, the same belief in America, the same focus on family…(she tells a fun story about them visiting Joe’s boyhood home)…love of family,
that kind of unconditional support that led Joe to be the extraordinary family member and father that he’s been, through all the tragedies that so many of us have followed from afar, and know how deeply he connects with others who have similarly suffered a tragedy.”

    • April 28, 2020 at 9:59 pm

      “…So I’ve been not only a colleague of Joe Biden’s, I’ve been a friend.
And I can tell you that I wish you were President right now. But can’t wait until he is. If all of us do our part to support the kind of person that we want back in the White House, to end the kind of disregard, of not only American values, but American institutions, the rule of law, and so much else that is at stake because of the current occupant. So I’m thrilled to be here with Joe from my home and his home, during the very crazy scary times that we find ourselves in, to support his candidacy and to talk about this really significant issue. About women during this time of COVID-19, and how we need to learn from what is happening.
You know this crisis has stripped bare for everybody to see the Inequities in our healthcare system,
in our economic system, and we have to pull together to be prepared to make the changes that will fix what is wrong in America, so that we truly can live up to be the best versions of ourselves.
And I think Joe Biden can lead us there. Thanks Joe.”

I didn’t watch the entire event, but what I saw I very much liked. Was very pleased that Joe had no problem whatsoever saying that this should have been her re-election campaign, since she won the popular vote … very much liked the warm camaraderie between the two of them. Didn’t seem fake and I don’t think it was. She also looked calm and at peace. Better than I’ve seen her look and act in recent years. Hope the mood lasts!

Lawrence O’Donnell – tonight, basically saying a meat plant in Iowa is being forced to stay working despite the Coronavirus being rampant at the facility. The Republican Gov warning the workers if they quit they wont be eligible for unemployment insurance.

Hey Iowa … keep on electing Republicans. You know, Republicans have your back … even if your back is on a hospital gurney.

Just watch the openings, if you go out and get sick in one of those states that are opening up. An insurance provider might try to find a way to deny you coverage for taking the risk of going out in public without a mask, its not like insurance companies are the most ethical of businesses. Trust me, insurance companies have entire divisions whose sole purpose is to find ways not a pain a claim.
