I watched that briefing yesterday. Thought to myself, “Oh, yes, this is where we should get all our briefings!” Of course, I worked as a civilian for the Navy for 30 years, so I’m a little jaded! And proud of it.

Watched part of it (forgot it was on – Ha! – like I’m “so busy”) and he did great. He’s no Barack Obama as a speaker, of course (and I do not compare President Obama to anyone because everybody would fail that), but he reminds me that none of us are perfect, either, but if we have good hearts and want to be good people and do our parts to make our world better, that’s all we need to do.

      Can’t wait until Joe’s our 46th.

Keep this in mind… and serious question. If one more Republican has to quarantine, and Mitch no longer has a majority, is Schumer in charge? That could be interesting

  12. March 23, 2020 at 11:40 am

Woke up to sad news. The wife of my retired pastor died last night. Cancer. Stage four when discovered in late January. Pastor died last spring. She moved to Atlanta last summer to be near her kids.

I was nine when they came to our church; he pastored us for about 30 years. They had a four and a two year old. My little brother was their playmate. My girlfriends and I used to hang out at the parsonage to “help” with the kids. As most of the women in my church worked, we were actually company for Mrs Parsons. She taught us how to play pinochle, bid whist, and poker… this was the 60’s. The older ladies of the church were appalled that the young pastor’s wife was teaching us cards… lol. She was a teacher by profession as table talk during the card games centered around African American literature and history; civil rights and current events. Will miss her…

“Dan Rather warns media about hyping Trump pressers:
‘He’s not going to come to anybody’s rescue’”
“Longtime news broadcaster Dan Rather on Sunday advised the media to “pay far less attention” to President Donald Trump.
“It’s disgraceful what he’s doing,” Rather said of Trump’s response to COVID-19.
“He’s continuing to try to divide the country at the very moment when we need to pull together. This is unacceptable and I think most Americans recognize it as such.”

Trump voters wanted to blow things up b/c were convinced that things couldn’t get any worse than they were in 2016. As they shelter in their homes and the economy grinds to a halt, I wonder if perhaps they now realize how good they had it under Obama?

    1) “During a press briefing earlier Sunday,
Vice President Mike Pence said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention would release new guidelines Monday that would allow people who were exposed to the coronavirus to return to work if they wear masks.”
    2) “Just 10 minutes before midnight on Sunday,
President Donald Trump fired off a cryptic all-caps tweet that was interpreted as an alarming signal that—despite warnings from health experts—he could soon lift the federal social distancing guidelines issued by the White House last week to help slow the spread of coronavirus.”

‘A weak man with delusions of competence’:
Trump buried for lying his way through the daily pandemic press conferences”
“In a time of global emergency, we need calm, directness and, above all, hard facts.
Only the opposite is on offer from the Trump White House.
It is therefore time to call the president’s news conferences for what they are: propaganda,” (Jennifer Senior)
“We may as well be watching newsreels approved by the Soviet Politburo.
We’re witnessing the falsification of history in real time.
When Donald Trump, under the guise of social distancing,
told the White House press corps on Thursday that he ought to get rid of 75 to 80 percent of them — reserving the privilege only for those he liked — it may have been chilling, but it wasn’t surprising.
He wants to thin out their ranks until
    there’s
    only
    Pravda
    in the room.”

Reading, cooking, watching stand-up comedy on Netflix, listening to music and donating to local organization that helps the most vulnerable. I am an introvert, so staying home is not a problem for me. Too many Floridians are taking this lightly, but A-A people always know that they are on their own no matter what is going on or who is in office. So far all of my family and friends are doing well.
One rather nice outcome of these uncertain days is that people who have not seen or contacted each other in a long time are doing so now.
Requesting a musical post of upbeat songs appropriate for the times. Thanks.
