People are taking care of each other and innovating solutions in the absence of leadership from #IQ 45, but we shouldn’t be in such desperate straits. Distance socializing is key. Keep asking the questions, reporters, and don’t repeat his BS!

I would add a HUGE THANK YOU to those working in grocery stores and gas stations and every where else, staying open so that we can still get basic necessities. Truly.

Has someone like Bezos offered any help? Am I wrong in thinking that folks like him could free up a few billions to assist ppl.
Subsidize ppl’s rent, pay for their food etc … for the next 6 months?

Just saw a FB article by TPL saying Moody’s has Trump winning by a landslide due to his current daily news broadcasts about the Corona virus. I looked up TPL and it is listed as a Liberal news outlet.

I have worried that Trump is using the Virus to gain stature as a Wartime President and use the virus as an excuse to create fear with a new scapegoat, the Chinese. He seems to be restocking his journalists to his own liking as in evidence the last two days with the woman who thought that we say Chinese food so it is ok and not racist to say Chinese flu which opened up Trump’s rant against journalists. He even suggested maybe they were sitting too close together and he might need to replace them with more friendly reporters. Then today instead of answering a question he didn’t like he disparaged the journalist. Next he called on Sean Spicer as if he didn’t know him. I also think he is using the virus as another excuse to get his way about the immigration changes he wants and scare people about others. He got a question about Senators profiting off of the virus information and selling stock. He mentioned Senator Feinstein’s name. A reporter mentioned Senator Burr and the woman from GA. Trump immediately said several times why are you not mentioning Dianne Feinstein? Say something enough and people believe it. Unobservant people and his fans may think he is showing good leadership.

“The Trump administration has held up $40 million in emergency aid Congress approved earlier this month to help American Indians combat the coronavirus — a delay that’s left tribal leaders across the nation frustrated and ill-equipped to respond to the fast-growing outbreak.
The funding has languished in bureaucratic limbo for weeks, despite increasingly urgent pleas from tribal organizations desperate to stockpile essential supplies and keep health clinics operational. Federally run American Indian health facilities are well short on hospital beds and ventilators, some frontline clinics received fewer than a dozen coronavirus tests, and federal officials have already signaled there will be little in the way of reinforcements — telling tribal leaders that all they can send right now are expired respirators.”

Good to know. Our household is not now showing signs of the virus. 12 days ago the clinic told us by phone to quarantine on account of shortness of breath, cough, fever. We imagined if anything, that it was a mild reaction. The medical outfit just now said they’d seen 100 people today, and none required COVID-19 testing, including us. I just feel very tired, but my friend was having chest problems so we went to find out more. It’s possible there are other viruses going around. Now for a nice cup of tay…

Now that he can’t do his rallies, this is his only outlet. I predict he will get more and more deranged as this goes on. This applies to his lack of urgency and lies about the coronavirus as well as all the other criminal acts that he has committed since squatting in the Oval. Meta … I have been saying this to my friends and colleagues too.

We have to think this is not forever … life will return to a normal, eventually. I don’t know any of this for sure , but I can hope.

      • March 21, 2020 at 8:47 am

We MUST have hope. But we must also recognize this urgent danger before us. No more life as usual for a while. Maybe weeks, maybe months. It will take a long time for our communities to rebuild. Many of the businesses in my own neighborhood are on the brink and some are now gone. This is catastrophic.

But YES, we must have HOPE, even in this very dark hour. We must all pull together to realize that hope.

Good Morning Meta, TodJey, and TODVille.

Your words ring so true. If we were to endure the pain of the entire continent in LOCKDOWN for 3 weeks, we would have saved time and lives.

Nothing will be as they were. It will be a new day once we passed the heart of the crisis, be it in 1 month, 2 or 4. I hurt thinking of the layoffs forthcoming, losses of 401k for some…

Gone is the day when I could get up on a Saturday and decide which movie I was going to see!

          • March 21, 2020 at 9:39 am

Yes, thank you NCLB. The sooner we face this, the sooner we can move on to acceptance and healing.

My heart breaks for everyone who is working through this, those who have lost their jobs and livelihoods, their money, their sense of safety. Like you, I would love to go to the movies this afternoon. Would love to see all the lovely grocery clerks who chat with me as they ring up my tab, learning about how their families are doing, how they’re planning their next day off. Especially the one who’s always singing and smiling as he works. I imagine they’re worked to the bone right now. I can only hope they’ll still be there when I can screw up the courage to go grocery shopping again.

I did kick myself for a moment when I took my money out of the stock market at the beginning of Trump’s term. I just thought there’s no way we’ll survive this nutcase. Of course the stock market has thrived a ton since then. But now I’m retired and I thank my luck stars that I met my targets and pulled my money out way back then because I would be royally screwed right now. I don’t know how everyone else will manage this because it will get worse before it gets better.

Let’s be hopeful and being to brainstorm ways to help our community get back on its feet, much like the clearing of debris after a storm. When we all pitch in to help our neighbors and jumpstart our renewal.

I thank everyone in this community for showing up and bolstering one another. Let’s stay strong. We will have moments of ugly cry, but we have each other and we must have HOPE.

    Congress:
Democratic Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Ron Wyden
have introduced a bill with the support of around half of the Democratic caucus that would provide funding for every state to take the following steps to ensure elections can continue to take place:
-Remove any excuse requirement to vote absentee by mail.
-Offer at least 20 days of in-person early voting.
-Begin counting of early votes 14 days before Election Day to lessen delays.
-Ensure that voters can register at least until 21 days before Election Day.
-Create an emergency voting plan to keep voters and poll workers safe.
-Allow online absentee ballot requests until at least five days before Election Day.
-Ensure absentee ballots count if they’re postmarked by Election Day and received no more than 10 days afterward.
-Require prepaid postage and self-sealing envelopes on mail ballots and ballot request forms.
-Require states to let voters download a printable absentee ballot they can fill out and mail in if they don’t receive a requested absentee ballot or are unable to use other voting methods.
-Guarantee that voters can track the status of their mail ballots.
-Require that voters be notified of and given a chance to correct any problem with their signatures on mail ballots.
-Ensure that Native American tribes have access to voting in places where mail service is not adequate.

      Memories.
      ‘Apocalypse Now’ (Brando):
Somewhere in the middle, blunt Dad leaned over and said “See thee…I’m off for a pint.”

Listen up, ladies and gentlemen. Our fugitive has been on the run for 90 minutes. Average foot speed over uneven ground, barring injuries, is 4 miles-an-hour. That gives us a radius of six miles. What I want out of each and every one of you is a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse in that area. Checkpoints go up at fifteen miles. Your fugitive’s name is Dr. Richard Kimble. Go get him.

I know it has nothing to do with anything, but it’s one of my favorites!!

I had been asking the same question…why do we need to reinvent the wheel when there are already kits/procedures out there? I agree, Bob, that GREED comes into play; not just with this administration/family and friends/GOP legislators, but also with US corporations. Why does the Defense Production Act need to be invoked before many companies will step up and manufacture the supplies necessary to fight this pandemic? [Oh yeah. That GREED word again.]

I also wonder whether we (tRump) has burned so many bridges that other countries have no desire to reach out to us…or is it the arrogance (and the greed) of the decision makers that rejects any outreach we may have received.
