So attempts to engage in some “both sides” nonsense appear not be holding up. From Senator Feinstein herself:

  31. March 20, 2020 at 12:01 pm

    Governor Pollis (CO):
“I think that quote you just quoted from the president there really shows a bit of this gap.
To say the federal government isn’t a shipping clerk, I mean we’re a mighty and proud nation. We’re the wealthiest nation in the world. We should have, of course, across our 50 states, that’s what we have the CDC for, and yet, really, we’re on our own as governors. Now, we’re scrappy. I’m doing my best in Colorado. We set up the first in the nation drive-through testing facility. We’re getting additional masks in from Home Depot and others. We’ve worked with most of our grocery stores to provide shopping for seniors and vulnerable populations in the morning. And we’re doing everything we can. But you know what, Chuck, we have freedom of movement in this country and until we have a national strategy, people are going to come and go from Washington and California and Colorado and Texas, and until you do this in a cohesive way, you’re going to have a lot more trouble containing the spread of the virus.”
    (c/o Colarossi)

Good morning, I am hanging in there. Up and down when fear overtakes me. Trying to stay positive. The governor of TN is doing nothing! Well, he is “encouraging” or “urging” people to be cautious and he is also telling people to “pray.” Speaking of, here’s a recap of a phone call I got an hour ago. We had arranged by text that she would call this morning. Here’s how the first part went: A ‘sermon’ (or lecture that I’ve heard many times” all about how she’s been reading the Old Testament……how the people disobeyed God and all the ways his punished them for not following the law. How she believes that’s what this is……waking up people and hopefully they will see the error of the ways for not following God, blah, blah, blah. Then, the end was “I truly believe we are in the last days. We are experiencing the story in Revelations. If we don’t see the end times, our kids will or for sure our grandkids. We just have to pray. That’s what we have to do is pray.” I halfway listened, texting with two other people while she went on and one. Please, spare me! Last thing I needed to hear this morning.

The tweet at the end of the last thread from randomfactsgirl about Biden needing to appoint a shadow cabinet and get to work doing what the federal government needs to do. IS THAT POSSIBLE? Story for y’all: When Lamar Alexander was elected governor of TN, he was following a very criminal governor……all kinds of fraud, banking issues…..long story., but it was BAD! This was a Democratic governor. Leading up to the inaguration, a group of Democrats–YES–and Republicans kept having meetings and planning. They didn’t want the outgoing governor to be able to pardon his cronies who were involved, etc. So, they finally convinced Alexander to be sworn in the day before . He was very reluctant to do it, but finally agreed to do it. He cleaned things up and was actually a good governor. Now, fast forward to the kind of senator he is!!!!

I have a dr. appt. at 2:00 for my monthly infusion (Orencia) for my arthritis. Going today, come straight home. May not be able to go next month. I can tell I am needing it so decided to keep appt.

I’m having the same fears tmgril, some days I’m hopeful and some days I’m like what would my family do if one of us got the virus. I know one thing, my wife is the strong one. She took of me and my son when I was in the hospital for two weeks after surgery to remove about ten feet of my intestines due to Crohn’s disease. But this virus is a whole different animal, its like your sitting around waiting for you or someone in your family to catch it. Other that social distancing and washing your hands every five minutes, what else is there left to do.

Feb 27: GOP Senator Burr told his favored group the truth, that the virus would have a fallout “akin to 1918”,
Trump said: “It’s going to disappear. One day, it’s like a miracle. It will disappear.
Feb 13: “Burr sold personal stocks worth between $628,000 and $1.72 million in 33 separate transactions
on a single day, February 13th, according to public disclosures. ”
—People have died and are going to die due to GOP delays and denials.
    —Burr Must Go.

    • March 20, 2020 at 12:29 pm

      Delay, deny…where are the tests?
Why did Trump lie about the W.H.O. test? He said it was a “bad test”.
“Based on a test developed in Berlin, Germany, by the end of February, WHO had purchased and sent materials to over 100 countries for 1.4 million tests.” (politifact)

That’s what I still don’t understand! Why is the press not asking him about the W.H.O. tests…Trump says they are “bad”…based on what evidence? Where is the data that shows they are bad? So we have been left blind with little testing…after telling us millions of kits would be available 2 weeks ago. Where are they?
And ask him every fucking day..Why did his administration fire the Pandemic team in May 2018? Every fucking day ask him that till the country finally hears it!!!

The article says if he vetoes it would likely be overridden. So that means people have to risk virus exposure to get ID. ACLU may sue to block enforcement unless its delayed until after the general election. Given the courts these days, it’s not looking good.

  58. March 20, 2020 at 2:12 pm

    Solutions:
The only way is to TEST EVERYONE including the non-symptomatic.
The virus is in you for around 3 weeks before symptoms show.
Half of those who test positive are non-symptomatic.
Every century or so there is a virus that is not new but is new to humans = No ‘herd immunity’.
STOCHASTIC =. It seems random but there is an underlying logic/structure.

    • March 20, 2020 at 2:15 pm

Eh now we suddenly desperately need science.

You know brigeriverpass…I am so frustrated (like you) . What I would like in this historic time of crisis and misinformation is for our President Obama to have a presser to discuss what his administration did to strengthen The CDC and W.H.O. during his time as president. His rational for forming the Pandemic Response Team, and what the Trump administration has done to cripple our national response to this pandemic. His understanding as to why the Pandemic Team was fired. The misinformation that rump spits out daily about how he “inherited a broken system” needs to have a STRONG response . I understand the current members that are working on this response can’t say anything…but President Obama can….and in my mind should. I want him to defend his record…I want him to call bullshit on rump’s lies and misinformation. Ignorance kills….and everyday we see it in action. I am so fucking mad!

“Growing up on the Apsáalooke (also known as the Crow) reservation in Garryowen, Montana,
    during the 1980s and ’90s,
Nina Sanders felt deeply tied to her culture, absorbing stories about her ancestors and their spirituality and acts of bravery in battle. But the connection frayed when she entered the public school system and was forced to abandon the Apsáalooke language for English. As punishment for speaking in her native tongue, she says, “we would be put in separate rooms or sometimes get spanked by the principal.”
That wasn’t all: “We were not allowed to practice our religion.”

    (

    • March 20, 2020 at 3:39 pm

“And our history was not in the school’s history books.”
“This cultural erasure became a driving force for the writer and scholar. As the curator of Apsáalooke Women and Warriors, opening this month at the Field Museum, Sanders celebrates an egalitarian society where, historically, male warriors protected the community while women served as caretakers of its culture….
For the Field exhibit, in addition to drawing on her own biography, Sanders leaned on 18 Apsáalooke scholars and artists, who contributed family stories as well as music, paintings, photos, beadwork, and clothing.”

    • March 20, 2020 at 3:39 pm

“It’s the museum’s first large-scale exhibit curated by a Native American — and a step toward addressing problematic displays of such material in the past at the Field and elsewhere. (For example, human remains have been taken from Native American tribes and exhibited by institutions without permission.)
Curators, Sanders says, have tended to be “people from New York City who’ve never seen a native person but went to college for anthropology, read about us in books, and saw us in Hollywood movies….”
“Not everyone lives in a tipi,” she says. “Not everyone rides a horse. I’m trying to educate people who really don’t have any experience with Indigenous people. Hopefully, non–Native Americans understand that we are still here. And we are flourishing.””

Italians are extremely sociable community folks who love to cook and share food, and hang out for hours. Just wondering how hard it was for them to self-isolate when others were not at the point of showing symptoms….which can take 3 weeks…and even when positive may not show symptoms…or the symptoms may seems mild…..we tend to think all is well….and then it is too late.
