    Copied from a FB post…

I interrupt the COVID-19 pandemic to bring you this lil tidbit…
Last night I went to Sam’s Club to buy a bag of food for my dogs.
Already in line, a woman behind me asked me if I had a dog.
I stare at her (those who know me will imagine my gaze 🤔😳) …but then why would I be buying dog food…right? 😝😝
So on impulse I told her no, that I didn’t have a dog, that I was starting the dog food diet again, and that I probably shouldn’t because I ended up in the hospital the last time, but 15 pounds less!
I told her that it was the perfect diet and that all you had to do is carry the kibbles in your pocket and eat one or two every time you feel hungry (I have to mention that practically everyone in line was interested in my story).
Frightened, the woman asks me if I ended up in the hospital because the dog food had poisoned me. I answered…of course not!
I was admitted because I bent down to smell the butt of a bulldog and I was hit by a truck 😂😂😂
I thought the man behind her was going to have a heart attack…he was laughing so hard!

    …Let’s continue promoting reading! 😁
I have to confess…I wrote this to make you smile. It’s your turn to copy/paste it and make someone else laugh.
We need to laugh more! Have a GREAT DAY 😄😄😄

Governor Cuomo is right about getting the Army Corps of Engineering to build hospital tents, bring beds, etc.
He explained how the private insurance business model doesn’t have backup on the possibility of an emergency, because there’s no money in it. (One of the reasons why Trump dismantled the CDC.)
Mentions the real prospect of gurneys in hospital hallways, etc.
(pretty mild when you consider what he doesn’t say = doctors deciding how to save or not due to lack of
ventilators as is happening in Italy.)
Cuomo: Deploy the Army Corps of Engineers to build out more hospital capacity for urgent intensive care,
right now! “The Federal Government must.do.this.”

    • March 17, 2020 at 1:11 pm

Maddow eloquently explained how 13% rise of cases in one day is terrible, but an improvement in Italy = hopeful sign. Italian nationwide quarantine lock down is slowing the collapse of the health system, and that is good. And that is where U.S. is heading: We now have America’s first Shelter in Place order in the SF Bay Area (nearly 7 million people). And that, she says “may be something our state and local officials start to coalesce around in our patchwork, off the cuff, catch as catch can, no-compass, no leadership, here and there American response.”

“The new White House line is that the American people don’t need coronavirus testing.
They just have to close everything down for 15 days….”
The country needs more and lots of testing because that is the only way to determine how bad the epidemic is.
The administration still has not increased the production of needed medical equipment or helped hospitals increase their capacity. The lack of testing is a way for the Trump administration to hold down the number of reported cases. The American people need to get tested, and since most people aren’t going to follow the CDC recommendations, one can expect that the coronavirus will get much worse before it gets better.”

I vividly remember the first time we went to the grocery store together, what was so odd about it was that she would buy two or three of everything. And when it came to cleaning supplies and toilet paper and paper towels she would buy it like it was the end of the world. Now I know!

It’s the psychology behind the thinking, when people are sick and dying and society is in an upheaval. Your first instincts is for you to try and find a way to make money off of the sickness and the dying and the upheaval, avarice is always the default position.

Downside of social distancing, Mom’s art and craft activities are canceled as of today, therefore, she calls every five minutes. On one hand, drives me crazy; on the other hand, I’m Blessed to have her here, in her right mind, to drive me crazy! My phone announces the name of the incoming caller; used to be, I never knew if it was my Mom or my sister-cousin until I looked at the phone. Sadly, since October 4th, I no longer wonder… so if my Mom calls fifty times a day, so be it… 🤣

IRS, Social Security close field offices and restrict services to contain virus spread — weeks before April 15 tax-filing deadline

The Internal Revenue Service on Tuesday began closing field offices in Northern California, Seattle, Puerto Rico and the New York City area and all of its tax counseling sites for the elderly amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Social Security Administration shuttered 2,400 field and hearing offices Monday night.

The closure of offices for these public services is the first sign that the public health crisis is forcing the federal government to slow down, even as the Trump administration urges agencies to send their staffs home to work remotely and keep the government running.
