I went into HEB this afternoon and for a moment I thought I was in a health food store. The only things that were left on the shelves were diet soda, wheat bread, and low fat products. Yeah, all you health nuts aren’t fooling me at all.

Ronna Romney McDaniel has just been tested.

It’s pretty odd that all the conspiracy theorist lunatics who called Coronavirus a hoax would be the first allowed to jump to the front of the line to get tested.

We need drive-through testing sites all over the country to get a handle on the epidemiology of this novel virus.

    Pod Save America.
    (Favreau, Lovett, Pfeiffer, Vietor):
“Donald Trump’s disastrous Oval Office address fails to calm Americans, Republicans fight Democratic proposals to provide economic relief, Joe Biden inches closer to an insurmountable pledged delegate lead, and Bernie Sanders vows to debate on Sunday. Then Governor Gavin Newsom talks to Dan about what the state of California is doing to battle the coronavirus pandemic.”

I’d like to see Bernie walk into the debate, tell Joe one-on-one that he realizes he won’t win the nomination, and then ask Joe to sit with him and calmly discuss the issues he’s been bringing up for several years. They could have a discussion that would not only be helpful to bringing the party together, but be informative to the nation.

That would be so healing for our country indeed. These are trying times and our country needs some TLC. Bernie could do this…these 2 men could vow to work together in getting our country out of the chaos and bring back our democratic norms. The person in the WH must go!

At such a critical moment be good if Bash and Tapper don’t foment conflict, do give adequate time, totally avoid gotchas, and encourage real discussion of details, plans, ideas.
All the candidates brought good ideas.

First he says he didn’t take the test, then he said he might take the test. And when he did take the test he said he’ll get the results back in a few days. And now on the same day that he took the test, he test negative. Nothing this guy says can be taking as the truth.

S#i+ just really got real. Six cases in my county; one a mile from my house… Had I known it was so close, I would not have been in ShopeRite on Wednesday, nor Costco yesterday morning…

Yesterday Swarthmore College confirmed a suspected case of COVID-19 in a family member of an employee of the college. The family member and the employee are self-quarantining. Here is the message from the college’s COVID-19 Planning Group:

Dear Students, Faculty, Staff, Parents, and Family,

Earlier today, we learned that a family member of an employee is assumed to have COVID-19; both individuals are self-quarantining upon the recommendation of their doctor. Due to the nature of their symptoms, the individual was not offered or provided a test for COVID-19. Earlier this week, after exhibiting mild symptoms, the individual tested negative for a number of other possible viruses, such as the flu, which led their doctor to assume a COVID-19 diagnosis.

We share this information with you in the interest of transparency and providing the campus community with as much information on this ongoing situation as possible, and we will continue to provide you with regular updates. We also want to be mindful of how rapidly this situation continues to develop. Given that we anticipate the number of suspected cases of COVID-19 to increase on campus, moving forward, we may not communicate each time a suspected case is identified. But our regular communications will provide as thorough an update as possible.

If you or someone you are in contact with exhibits cold or flu-like symptoms, you should contact your health care provider immediately to seek further guidance. Employees with such symptoms must not come to work. For more information on Swarthmore College’s response to COVID-19, please visit swarthmore.edu/COVID19.

If any member of the community, after consultation with their health care provider, understands that they are suspected of having COVID-19, please contact the Office of Public Safety 24/7 at 610-328-8333 so that the College is aware of the situation and can respond appropriately.

    Sincerely,

Members of Swarthmore College’s COVID-19 Planning Group

Casey Anderson, Interim Director, Worth Health and Wellness Center
Greg Brown, Vice President for Finance and Administration
    Mike Hill, Director, Public Safety
Andy Hirsch, Vice President for Communications
    Sharmaine LaMar, General Counsel
Paula MacDonald, Associate Director, Organizational Development and Workplace Relations
Patricia Martin, Director of Off-Campus Study
Ed Rowe, Chief of Staff and Secretary of the College
    Valerie Smith, President
Jim Terhune, Vice President and Dean of Students

Spain’s government announced Saturday that the wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez tested positive for the novel coronavirus, according to a government statement.

“The tests carried out in the last hours in Moncloa [the prime minister’s residence] on the people closest to the prime minister have tested positive in the case of his wife, Doña Begoña Gómez,” the statement read. “Both Mrs. Gómez and the president are well, both remain in La Moncloa and follow the preventive measures established by the health authorities at all times.”

      • 100 Dudette
        March 15, 2020 at 12:27 pm

You can request (“apply for “) an absentee ballot online and have it mailed to you.

        • March 15, 2020 at 1:05 pm

          I had already early voted.

Whereas it may have been too late for the March 24th date for people to request a mail-in absentee ballot, I wondered if the new election date will allow distribution and return in time to be counted. I suspect though that there will be many who will now want to get a mail-in absentee ballot rather than voting in person. Hopefully the SoS and the county BoE’s will prepare for that possibility.

How COVID-19 is spread, symptoms, what to do if you think you have it, am I at risk?, how to reduce risk, about face masks, how long it survives on surfaces, mail, how severe, how diagnosed, how treated, resources.
–Have been reading that we’re contagious before symptoms show, spread person-to-person when an infected person speaks, coughs, or sneezes within 6 feet, or by touching contaminated surfaces. Symptoms can appear
    2-14 days after exposure.
