Dudette, thank you for posting article on Mr Barker’s burial last week. I was Blessed to have a pretty good day and was able to make it. Although the article says two hundred were in attendance; I estimate the crowd was between 325 and 360.
When we buried my father, I found it strange that the front of the committal chapel was all glass with no drapes. Found out last week the reason is to accommodate large burials. The chapel is small; seats about 75. The overflow stands outside, looking in; there are speakers so that those outside can hear the service.
Was disappointed that the article didn’t mention the state trooper who performed the well check that found Mr. Barker in medical distress. She visited him at the hospital daily until he died; tracked down and reconnected him with relatives in Georgia and Trinidad; and insisted that Congo Funeral Home handle the arrangements, rather than the government contractor.
Oh, bless you, Dear. I’m so glad you got to go! It’s good to hear that so many others showed up for him too. Our veterans deserve so much more than they get in life after serving. It’s heart-warming to know that he was found in time to reconnect with family before he passed and that so many stepped to honor him. May God bless the trooper who found him and made all of that possible. May Mr. Barker rest in power and peace.
Please use whatever legal mechanisms exist to have @POTUS & @VP charged with #Manslaughter for all #COVID_19 Deaths since mid-Jan 2020 since their willful negligence is the indisputable cause.
Obama made public his support for canceling public events to curb the spread of the coronavirus. And he revealed a chart to show how self-quarantines save lives.https://t.co/i2KlzxxGxM
I haven’t seen a single person say, “But how do we pay for it.” We actually need each other and what this shows is that we could take care of all of our citizens if we chose, if we actually believe our fates are tied to each other. I hope we remember that when this is all over.
Justin Trudeau’s wife has the coronavirus. She was at a speaking engagement in London, I believe, when she was tested. Apparently he does not have any symptoms but is self-quarantining for 14 days. Sad.

Context: Trump fired the CDC Pandemic team in '18 and cut the CDC budget by 80%.
The CDC dismantling is just the most egregious example of Trump's "eliminate the deep state" policy. The others agencies and institutions have also been hollowed out, including EPA.

TODers, please be safe. Do not take any unnecessary risks, be alert, take every precaution. This is deadly serious.
People deciding what size crowds to allow to gather in public – we've seen 500, 100, etc – don't seem to understand that social isolation means ISOLATION. We don't have tests, we don't know who is carrying the virus. The psychology is hard, I know, but heed the advice: ISOLATE.
People must now choose between Trump or the truth, life or death. Republicans have made their decision clear. Now we must make ours clear at the ballot box. BE A VOTER. VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS UP AND DOWN EVERY LAST BALLOT.

So my school district and my school texted us all to tell us that we’re shut down until April 6th and will be teaching from home via computer/PowerPoint and email until Spring Break Mar 27-April 6. We are allowed to go in this morning to make plans, let parents know what we’re doing and then have to leave by 1pm. This will be new for me and I hope I can do a great job for my students. I worry about them and how much they will lose academically through this. Also our 8th graders (who I teach) have lost their disneyland trip already. I feel sad for them and deeply angry with Trump and the voters who put him into office. Wish me luck.
I totally wish you luck, Betsy!! School districts here are beginning the same process , though mine hasn’t pulled the plug yet. We’re on break next week. People have been speculating that we won’t be back after break, and it will be extended, but we’ll see.
I worry about the kids that depend on school, not just for learning, but for safety and meals…. what will happen to them? What additional stress will they suffer? My heart aches for them.
We’ll get through this together in spite of him and his ignorance and arrogance. Keep a positive thought that he’ll be in jail when this is over. Love and hugs to you and your kiddos. Good luck!
Nerdy, it’s been said many times before, by many different people, me included, but I’m so grateful to have this place. Especially if we have to shut ourselves off from the world for awhile . This means so much to so many and I just wanted to let you know how much you, and this entire community, means to me.❤️
A quick reminder to every Republican senator not named @MittRomney that a few weeks ago, each and every one of you voted against removing Donald Trump from office. Every one of you knew he was unfit for office when you did this. Every one of you chose to risk today happening.
Late Wednesday, a doctor asked a group of fellow emergency room physicians on Facebook how they would combat the escalating coronavirus outbreak. “I have direct channel to person now in charge at White House,” Kurt Kloss wrote. (Kloss' daughter is married to Kushner’s brother.) https://t.co/gk2HUbLS2D
Hey folks, I know this may seem obvious but it’s a good reminder: the employees at grocery stores and whatnot have been dealing with panic-shopping and tension all week. They’re exhausted. Please put more than usual consideration into being kind and graceful. They’re helping us.
For Trump, who most obviously refuses to get tested because he’s petrified of any bio sample out there that could be used in any of the many rape cases against him, it seems like it may be a matter of days before it may be unavoidable. Still, he will likely fight it and have some flunky issue a statement that he’s in the best of health.
Brazil's authoritarian president, Jair Bolsonaro, has coronavirus. He previously called the outbreak a "fantasy." He recently met with Donald Trump, a man who called worries over the outbreak a "hoax."
The last argument Republicans have left. Yes, most people want X, but if you negatively apportion vote weight by population density per km^2, then it is clear that that the majority of acreage does not want it.
I'm presenting mild symptoms (headache, mild fever, mild cough) and want to get tested in north Jersey. Primary care tells me to go to ER. ER tells me to call city health dept. Health dept tells me to go to urgent care. Urgent care tells me to go to ER. Everyone says no tests.
If anyone has any elderly or immunocompromised friends/relatives in NYC or Nassau County who want to buy necessities but are afraid to go pick them up for risk of getting sick, I am happy to do so and bring them what they need!
