      Trump is ugly and mean. I am sure Barack Obama hated every minute of that White house meeting. Trump was dishonest from the outset. Every word he said was a lie. I hope Trump does enough things between now and November to make people really wake up to every awful thing he stands for.

    There’s been a whole stack of tweets sent out all day (no doubt many because of Rep. Clyburn’s endorsement and remarks) with the hashtag #WeKnowJoe. Such a relief to see such sweet things being said about a politician. We have missed that part so much for the last 3+ years. Here’s one:

    Dr. Anthony Fauci, for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases,
    who has served 6 presidents: “In order to get a [coronavirus] vaccine that’s practically deployable for people to use, it’s going to be at least a year to a year and a half at best.”
    12 to 18 months.

    • February 27, 2020 at 12:02 pm

      Yet Doom at the same press conference mega-lied:
      “The vaccine is coming along well and I’m speaking with doctors, this is something we can develop fairly rapidly, a vaccine.” He lives in a world of dangerous denial, make-believe, and utter pretense. Will he be permitted to somehow cause millions of deaths if he feels like it = if the mood takes him?

    • February 27, 2020 at 12:05 pm

      ‘The Expertariat’.
      Trump Party’s abuse of scientists and facts has backfired big time here. Today we need Dr. Fauci and other disease experts to save us. imo Pence has a track record of denial + dumbing himself down and cannot be trusted to lead anything. Presumably the plan is to put Trump’s words in his mouth.

    Good Morning, Good MidDay, Good Afternoon, TODbots.
    Great to see that Joe Biden is doing a tad better.
    Now, if he wins big in SC & everyone else hits below 15%, he gets all the delegates. I hope that will make Mike Bloomberg to consider 🤞🤞droop off & back Joe Biden…Bloomberg takes votes from Biden. This will help VP Biden on Tuesday.

  58. February 27, 2020 at 1:20 pm

  59. February 27, 2020 at 1:31 pm

    PBO’s remarkable Ebola response co-ordinator Ron Klain with O’Donnell:
    RON KLAIN:
    “Well you saw the president, as you mention Lawrence, contradict the nation’s leading experts,
    Dr Fauci, Dr Schuchat, who also from the Center for Disease Control was there:
    Contradict them on the likelihood of this disease spreading in the United States;
    contradict them on the pace of vaccine development;
    contradict them on – you know Donald Trump used the past tense to describe the virus, I think our threat really is in the future tense.;
    Contradicted himself on the travel restrictions he put in place, misled the American people about the travel restrictions he put in place.
    So you know I think putting vice-president Pence in charge doesn’t move the needle one way or other.
    If the president is going to continue to reject scientific advice, to contradict scientific advice, and really focus
    – I think singularly – not on the safety and the health of the American people…by trying to talk the stock market
    back up. I think his strategy has been happy tweets to talk up the market, and not really preparing our country to deal with this problem that we are going to face.”

    “Covid-19 & The End of Affluence Politics”:
    “[T]he coronavirus is going to introduce economic conditions with which few people in modern America are familiar: the prospect of shortages.
    After 25 years of offshoring and consolidation, we now rely on overseas production for just about everything.
    Now in the wake of the coronavirus, China has shut down much of its production; South Korea and Italy will shut down as well. Once the final imports from these countries have worked their way through the supply chains and hit our shores, it could be a while before we get more. This coronavirus will reveal, in other words, a crisis of production—and one that’s coming just in time for a presidential election.”
    (https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2020/2/27/1922450/-Covid-19-The-End-of-Affluence-Politics)

    “America
    is about to get a godawful lesson
    in why healthcare should never be a for-profit business”.
    “For four decades, American corporations have been caught up in a whole series of refinements that are intended to improve efficiency and productivity. Our processes are lean. Our efficiency is six-sigma. Our productivity has mysteriously run far ahead of employee compensation in a way that has made CEOs billionaires while leaving workers on food stamps.

    Delusional, empty, transparent, despicable:
    “Donald Trump defended the cuts he had made to the CDC and the experts on pandemics he had dropped from the National Security Council and the epidemiologists he had flushed from his planning team.”
    He didn’t want those people sitting around when they weren’t needed, said Trump.
    Besides, he claimed, you could always go and get them when they were needed.
    Because somewhere, somehow, there is a system that keeps vital specialists waiting in hermetically sealed containers, fresh, ready, and informed to meet the nation’s needs.”

    • February 27, 2020 at 5:13 pm

      “That is, it goes without saying, bullshit. But let me say it again. Bullshit.
      The value of an expert brought in to repair a system after disaster strikes is so much less than the value of having that person on hand to plan that the old ounce of prevention being greater than pound of cure formula doesn’t begin to cover it. You cannot decide to hire some pilots after the plane has crashed.
      The thing about extraordinary events is that they’re extraordinary.
      Planning for them will never improve profits. It will only save lives.”
      …something…called…savinglives…does…not…compute…pls..explain.

    • February 27, 2020 at 5:13 pm

      “By treating health care like a business,
      Americans have already seen one of the first people who dared ask to be tested for COVID-19 get handed a bill for thousands of dollars, the primary result of which will be to dissuade other Americans from asking to be tested. Which is, right there, exactly the result that is best for insurance companies—and worst for the nation.”
