Nerdy – I don’t know how so many of us would have gotten through these last several years without TOD. Thank you so very much for keeping it alive!!!! We don’t ever want to forget the Obama years, which – in my mind – will continue as long as we walk the planet. Thank you!

We talk about how the Left is missing the mark at this moment with its troubling silence on Trump’s white nationalism, which is the key to and cornerstone of his continued power.

      • February 22, 2020 at 11:51 am

        The money won’t save us!
In fact Sen. Sanders is offering healthcare for all, fair taxes, education for all, a concerted effort to address climate change for the world’s scientists’ deadline of 2030.
Why be afraid of that? What’s so radical about that?
It’s the corporates who are afraid because it will cost them. Their CEOs won’t make as much. Yeh they’re threatened by him. However the fact is his proposals are exactly what the majority of Americans want.

          February 22, 2020 at 11:59 am

How is he going to PAY for that? He’s never really explained anything to my satisfaction. He is not an island unto himself! I do believe he really wants those things for Americans. I do. But THEY WON’T HAPPEN because we can’t seem to get out shit together for anything. Big or small. Sorry. I have to respectfully disagree

          • February 22, 2020 at 12:20 pm

            I think you know that
If we change the tax structure so the rich pay fair taxes, end shelling out tax payer billion$$ to subside Oil and Gas, and cut the bloated military budget, we could pay for everything!
PBO didn’t know how much the ACA would cost either and it took a year to figure out.
(btw we will get whatever we can pass on healthcare and the candidates know this.)
Yet predictably Warren was unfairly gotcha hounded on the cost question at every turn.
–Right now the candidates’ job is to make proposals and NOT to present legislative quality fait accompli.
–These are Republican talking points designed to scare you.

Totally agree Marley. IMO, everything that Sanders is offering sound great but it is all a pipe dream. I guess I am to realistic. Beware, if something sounds to good to be true.

Morning everyone. I don’t know about you, but I’m officially terrified and furious at the same time. This all needs to be exposed to a greater degree, so ALL of America understands, and good citizens in government need to come forward to Congress to tell what they know. Big the motherfuckers office, house, car and impeach the traitor again. All Republicans are aiding and abetting and are as much responsible for this as he is. It’s not just the idiot squatter.

Please understand, the reason the Rethugs are doing nothing on election protection is that the Russians et al are also meddling in the down ballot races. They know that they can’t hold the WH and senate without assistance, and they are hoping that that same assistance will help take back the house.

      • February 22, 2020 at 11:59 am

Will our IC counter-forces to Russian attack be told by Trump to “stand down”?
Intelligence Committee Jim Himes said that United States “offensive capabilities are the best in the world”.
The last section on RM’s show was about this.

I hope that VP Joe does well in Nevada.

As for the candidate who wants to destroy the Democratic party, …

Danny Eck on Joy’s show last night.
He was weirdly both-sidey about everything for most of the interview and then said this:
“I found him (Sanders) to be extremely authentic.
And while I don’t know him well, I would assert this categorically: You will never see Senator Sanders call a press conference and actively…solicit Russia in our election as we did with president Trump in 2016. Nor will you ever see staff members doing so on his behalf, repeatedly meeting with multiple parties on behalf of the Russian government as did candidate Trump.”

I need to retain my sanity because this election is a matter of life and death for me and many I know and don’t know.

But many voters and candidates seem to be focused on winning a point rather than winning the election aka defeating Individual 1

Not alone! I literally feel sick. And, to make matters worse (if that’s possible) , I am locked inside a car with my Republican husband. Things mighty quiet after we attempted a conversation awhile ago. I asked him in all seriousness if he thinks our democracy will survive. “I think our Constitution will survive. I don’t think one branch of our government can bring down our democracy.” I tried convincing him that we don’t have a DOJ——“That’s the way it’s always been. The DOJ is part of the executive branch.” He would never answer when I asked him if we have ever had a AG who functioned ONLY as the personal attorney/Fixer for the president. Crickets. He says I listen to Democratic PROPAGANDA. I asked if it is propaganda when we hear how this person got fired and someone else got fired and patriots got marched out of the WH, is that propaganda?? I told him: That can ONLY be a yes or no answer. I repeated that two times. He refused, refused to answer yes or no. Started what every right wing caller does on the radio —-try to turn the tables….. I can’t type any,ore

Presidential Memorandum on the Delegation of Certain Authority under the Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute

      Issued on: January 29, 2020

SUBJECT: Delegation of Certain Authority under the Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including section 301 of title 3, United States Code, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Section 1. Policy. The national security interests of the United States require expedient and efficient decisionmaking. When new missions emerge or existing ones evolve, the Department of Defense requires maximum flexibility to respond to threats to carry out its mission of protecting the American people. This flexibility requires that military and civilian leadership manage their organizations to cultivate a lethal, agile force adaptive to new technologies and posture changes. Where collective bargaining is incompatible with these organizations’ missions, the Department of Defense should not be forced to sacrifice its national security mission and, instead, seek relief through third parties and administrative fora.

Sec. 2. Delegation of Authority to the Secretary of Defense. (a) The Secretary of Defense (Secretary) is delegated authority under 5 U.S.C. 7103(b)(1) and 7103(b)(2) to issue orders excluding Department of Defense agencies or subdivisions thereof from Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute coverage. The Secretary is authorized to further delegate this authority to any official of the Department of Defense appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate.

      (b) When making the determination required by 5 U.S.C. 7103(b)(1) or 7103(b)(2), the Secretary or other official delegated this authority pursuant to subsection (a) of this section shall publish this determination in the Federal Register.

      (c) Any official to whom the Secretary of Defense delegates the authority pursuant to subsection (a) of this section may not further delegate this authority.

      (d) For purposes of this memorandum, the term “Department of Defense agencies or subdivisions” includes without limitation the military departments.

Sec. 3. General Provisions. (a) Nothing in this memorandum shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:

      (i) the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or

(ii) the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.

      (b) This memorandum shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

      (c) This memorandum is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

You are authorized and directed to publish this memorandum in the Federal Register.
