I see some reports of how people in NH chose who to vote for.

It is astounding to learn the extent to which some people refuse to take time to learn about the candidates at this crucial time in the nation’s history.

I do not know if I can stomach the nonsensical “political analysis” that is dominating the results of NH primary election.

I am seriously contemplating turning political shows off for the next 48 hours. The is a limit to what my heart can stomach.

WE MUST HANG TOGETHER! Do NOT get tribal, please—- PLEEEEASE! Let’s see how Joe does in SC and Super Tuesday. After that, we must, MUST rally behind whoever it is to get that criminal, scumbag OUT. OUT. That’s all there is my friends. MY favorites were Kamala and Julian. NEVER MIND. My least favorite is Bernie— I’ll vote for that old man in a flash! WE MUST GET RID OF THIS DISEASE so our country can eventually recover…..THAT will take time.

I hope that people can stop and take a breath about the Democratic primary.

I think that many people are having a knee-jerk reaction and voting according to prevailing hysteria the manipulated news cycle.

I have watched the actions of and listened to the Dem candidates. I know who I will vote for and why. I have also ranked the candidates.

No amount of propaganda is going to make me change my mind about the person who has earned my vote over a lifetime of public service.

    Barr’s Obstruction of Justice:
“The preamble to the United States Constitution makes clear what our system of government is supposed to do with its power and authority. In fact, the 16th and 17th words in the document say that the American system should exist in order to “establish justice. The constitutional mandate is under attack in ways without modern precedent…
A Justice Department that overrides its own prosecutors to do favors for the president’s pals is a department that should expect to be seen as corrupt.” (Benen)
“David Laufman, the former counterintelligence chief at the Justice Department, called yesterday’s developments “shocking,” adding, “We are now truly at a break-glass-in-case-of-fire moment” for the DOJ.”

    “HOW TO STOP BILL BARR:
We must remove this cancer on our democracy:”
“THE THREE INDIVIDUALS on whose support the impeached criminal Donald John Trump most depends are
    Rupert Murdoch, owner of News Corp., who heads the president’s popular propaganda media network;
    Mitch McConnell, the obstructionist Senate Majority Leader, who throttled the will of the people in the sham impeachment trial;
    and, above all,
William Barr, the nihilist Attorney General, who has done everything in his considerable power to insulate Trump from the law—and, thus, to lurch our democracy toward despotism.”

    • February 12, 2020 at 11:24 am

“Let me be clear: Barr is not all-powerful.
The DOJ is not a monolith, and it is staffed, in the main, by patriots, not traitors—”
“We must remove Barr from office before he lands a death blow to democracy.
      This is Defcon One, people:”

    • February 12, 2020 at 11:25 am

“…he is the Attorney General, not the President,
and thus does not enjoy the Constitutional protections of his office that Trump relies on.
For legal purposes, he is NO DIFFERENT than you or I.”
“Barr controls the federal Justice Department, but has no truck with state and local authorities.”

    • February 12, 2020 at 11:25 am

“He’s left a lot of breadcrumbs, which I covered at length a few weeks ago—
      he’s connected to Jeffrey Epstein,
to his creepy father Donald Barr,
to Opus Dei, to shady bank dealings dating to the Bush I years.
Investigative reporters need to follow these crumbs.”

    • February 12, 2020 at 11:26 am

“But the secret weapon here is contempt of Congress…”
“Barr should be subpoenaed to testify immediately, and if he refuses, he needs to be punished. Period.
      Lock him up.
      Fine him brutally.
      Take away his fucking money.
Whatever the law allows, or might allow, must be put to the test.”

    • February 12, 2020 at 11:27 am

“One of the reasons Trump has been winning these little process battles is that the Democrats have been reluctant to upset the apple cart of tradition and decorum. The time has come to kick over that cart and start pelting the bad guys with apples. If need be, the House needs to vote to de-fund the Justice Department until subpoenas are adhered to. (In other words: Pelosi should do to Barr what Trump did to Ukraine!) We need to go on the offensive. Our republic depends on it.”

On a different note from politics … does anyone have a pound cake recipe they would like to share? My baking is a hit and miss often, *sigh* … was thinking of baking this weekend. I found one online but if anyone would like to share a recipe that’s not a family secret ☺, please do.

    Senator Schumer to the Senate:
“The president ran against the “swamp” in Washington—a place where the game is rigged by the powerful to benefit them personally.
I ask my fellow Americans: what is more swampy, what is more fetid, what is more stinking, than the most powerful person in our country literally changing the rules to benefit a crony guilty of breaking the law?
As a result, I have formally requested that the inspector general of the Justice Department investigate this matter immediately.”

    • February 12, 2020 at 3:22 pm

      Senator Schumer:
“And this morning, I call on Judiciary Committee Chairman Graham to convene an emergency hearing of the Judiciary Committee to do the same—to conduct oversight and hold hearings.
That’s the job of the Judiciary Committee, no matter who is president, whether the president is from your party or not. Something egregious like this demands that the inspector general investigate and demands that the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee hold a hearing, now.”

    • February 12, 2020 at 3:22 pm

      Senator Schumer:
“The president is claiming that rigging the rules is perfectly legitimate—he claims an “absolute right” to order the Justice Department to do anything he wants! And the president has as his Attorney General an enabler—and that’s a kind word—who actually supports this view.”

Okay friends, Have to share my experience from an hour ago of calling Lamar Alexander’s office (local). Will try my best to keep it short, but that may be impossible.

I called about the DOJ issue from the past two days. Had to hold for a couple minutes. Keith came on (Yes, we are on first name basis!). I gave him my initial message though do not remember specifically what was said, but ended it with the prediction that as of February 12, 4:35, I predict we will not have an election. (I meant a general election in November.) He smarted off with “Well, we are having elections today……..” It went downhill from there. I cursed and he yelled and cursed back at me. He said he would give the Senator my message. In 5 or 6 minutes, my phone rang and it was Keith calling me back to apologize. I “sort of” apologized too, then we had a fairly long conversation. I had Twitter open in front of me so able to quickly take things from there to make my points. Two different times after I hit him hard with truth and facts and then said, “You know that everything I have said to you is true and you can’t sit in your office in downtown Knoxville and deny ONE thing I have said.” Crickets, Crickets two different times. At one point he said he couldn’t give his personal opinion. I pointed out that everything that happens and the further we headlong into living in a full blown fascist and authoritarian country, it is going to affect you and your loved ones just like it does me and everyone else. You think because you are a Republican and who you work for will make things “okay” for you…….that you won’t be affected?! I am leaving out a lot of things, but this gives you the gist of how the call went.
