“If any other public figure regularly stumbled onto the stage clearly drugged to the gills,
it would be a major scandal. But somehow Donald Trump can appear over and over, sniffling at the end of each sentence and slurring his words as if he’s downed a fifth of Wild Turkey, and not one news network will mention not only that Trump’s speech was full of white supremacist rhetoric and an endless stream of lies, but that he was having such trouble simply reading that his words often had to be interpreted from context.
Not that it rally mattered. A Republican Congress, still nervous that it hadn’t licked his boots sufficiently,
stood to applaud with even more frequency than Trump snorted. Game show stunts. Huzzah! Failing government schools. Huzzah! Medal of freedom sullied forever. Double huzzah!”

Heard a couple of excellent tidbits already today.

First, Sen. Doug Jones will vote to convict, no matter what he has at stake in the next election. #Hero

Second, Rep. Eric Swalwell stood up righteously this morning on MSNBC. When questioned about Nancy Pelosi’s ripping up her copy of the SOTU speech last night, he mentioned something about it was a good thing he wasn’t there “with a box of matches.” Then when reminded that First Lady Michele Obama had said “When they go low, we go high,” he said something like he had the utmost respect for Michele Obama and a few other things saying (I’m paraphrasing) he thought his decision to stand high on impeachment would be in line with her fine example. #RoleModel

    And, now: COFFEE. Mornin’.

Proud of Doug Jones putting principal over reelection. Hope his coalition doubles in force at the polls.

Will be interesting to see what Sinema and Manchin, neither of whom are up for reelection, do…

Hope Doug Jones wins! He already won today, in my book. Others could just cut and paste from his remarks, and vote to convict. Shame on Sinema and Manchin, if they don’t go along.

GOP likes to dangle the rest of us a bone to chew on, a ray of hope, a Collins or a Murkowski.
And some of us will dither again until the obvious = both women are dyed in the wool Putin party-ers.
So that line in ‘Gattica” came to me, when Ethan Hawke (the one with the heart defect) explains to his gene-perfect brother how it was that he, not him, swam so far out in the ocean and did not flounder like his brother.
He said “Because I never saved anything for the way back.”
That ‘s how I see Trump’s Republican Party.
They’re going all the way for authoritarianism, for criiminality, for Putin, for the Mob, for the dirty fuel corporations, no matter what it costs planet Earth or future generations. They’re deep in the mire now and we better believe they have not saved anything for the way back.

Getting Trump into the WH was a global Mob dream come true.
And now they’ve got him into high office there’s no plan to let him go. imo after the phony acquittal, the message will be “You see? We can RIG ANYTHING. Leave the future to us. Just let go.”
We know Trump is a greedy little man of little brain with a talent for reality TV and abuse in all its forms.
So let’s not be distracted…expose who is behind the curtain doing all the rigging, and why.
