A danger yes, but also SO PATHETIC. Utterly insecure, he has to constantly bluster and pose to prop up his all-consuming ego.

We’ve witnessed the pain of Meghan Markle. We’ve seen Prince Harry in near tears pleading with the press to leave them alone as he promotes his official campaign on the importance of mental health and bears his soul about the loss of his mother to insatiable snakes. My only hope for them is that they find peace and a beautiful haven within which to raise their beautiful son.

Out of nowhere the impeachment trial starts days from now. But it didn’t start from nowhere, this impeachment started the day Trump was sworn in. And now justice, or karma, or whatever you want to call it, it is at Trump’s door and he cannot escape it.

“The goal of The 1619 Project is to reframe American history by considering what it would mean to regard 1619
as our nation’s birth year. Doing so requires us to place the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very CENTER
of the story we tell ourselves about who we are as a country.”

Fmr CIA Director John Brennan to Chris Hayes:
“In many respects Donald Trump has taken a page out of the authoritarian’s playbook
which I have seen unfold so many times over the course of my career overseas. When you get a dictator
or authoritarian leader who first of all fills the parliament or legislature with political toadies,
a person who then will control the fundraising for those political sycophants, but then also to capture and to co-opt the instruments of power which are: Intelligence, Security, and the Justice system, so that they can prosecute then individuals who have the audacity to challenge them. And so unfortunately I think what we’ve seen so far
with Mr. Barr, it’s clear he is acting as Donald Trump’s own personal defense attorney and not conducting the affairs that an Attorney General is supposed to, which is to protect the interests of the United States.
So I do think that Mr. Parnas makes a good point that what Mr Trump is able to do now, is to intimidate others
the way he has done for many years when he was a businessman in New York.
He would pursue litigation, he would threaten to sue, he would go after them, his opponents with whatever he has.
Now, he has these instruments – again – of government power which are tremendously powerful and can be tremendously intimidating of individuals, which is I think what we have seen over the last several years.”

  41. January 19, 2020 at 12:30 pm

    Fmr CIA Director John Brennan:
“”Look what happened to the Whistle Blower.
The Whistle Blower was following appropriate procedures and raising concerns about what he or she thought was wrong. And now Mr. Trump and others have gone after that whistle blower with a vengeance. So I think a lot of these servants, these public servants, these individuals, the fellow citizens of ours, who are doing their best every day to keep us safe…they really have to be concerned that the President of The United States – or someone who purports to be the President of the United States – will stoop to any level to be able to try and hurt them. And it’s clear that he has a vindictive streak in him and he’ll go after them. So I’m very concerned about it, this corrosive effect that it’s had on our government system in terms of stopping these public servants from carrying out their duties with a responsibility and the dedication they need to without fear of reprisals.”

When we get rid of the ROUNDUP (Monsanto/Bayer) glyphosate
with which farmers, home-owners and local authorities are poisoning our fields, crops, and parks:
the world’s bees and birds and insects will have a chance to return.
ROUNDUP is already banned in many European countries.
Legal outfits in the U.S. are advertising and taking up cancer cases caused by spraying ROUNDUP.

Comme Des Garçons: Row over white fashion models’ cornrow wigs

Japanese fashion brand Comme Des Garçons has been accused of cultural appropriation after white models took to its runway wearing cornrow wigs.

The wigs were part of the company’s men’s autumn and winter collection on show as part of Paris Fashion Week.

Critics on social media called the styling for Friday’s show “offensive”.

Hairstylist Julien d’Ys said he had been inspired by an “Egyptian prince” look, and had not intended to hurt or offend anyone.

The Duke of Sussex’s speech is so moving.
And I thought of the speech made by Charles, Prince of Wales in the Welsh language 50 years ago
in 1969 at his investiture ceremony at Caernarfon Castle in Wales.
This event was portrayed beautifully in “The Crown” and showed the loneliness and humility of Charles. And now Harry, as they strive to meet the pressure and (impossible) demands of their inherited positions.
–Love and best wishes to the Duke and Duchess and Archie, imo Canada will be a welcoming home for them.

“Trump Adviser On Russia Physically Removed From White House”
“A White House adviser on Europe and Russia issues has been placed on administrative leave pending a security-related investigation, two people with knowledge of his exit said Sunday.
Andrew Peek was escorted off the White House compound on Friday, according to one of those familiar with his departure.” (AP)

    • January 19, 2020 at 8:27 pm

“Peek was removed from the White House because for some reason, he was deemed a national security risk, while he is under investigation. The Trump administration has said nothing because their mission is to keep the American people as uninformed as possible about what their own government is doing.”

The charges are serious. Let’s make no mistake about it….
If a president can get a foreign power to interfere in our elections and determine the outcome, that is against the whole ESSENCE of what America is all about. The American people should determine who their president, or senator or congressmen are. Not a foreign power. And if that starts to happen, our democracy is in peril. A fundamental democracy which has blessed this country for over 200 years.
        And second:
Can a president SO stonewall that NO information about serious charges comes out?
Again that’s totally against what the Founder Fathers stated: It was up to CONGRESS to impeach. It was up to CONGRESS to determine documents. There is no executive privilege here!
And in fact, since the President has talked about everything that’s happened – any CLAIM of executive privilege is GONE.

        • January 19, 2020 at 10:21 pm

          Above from Senator Schumer.
          More:
“The President is afraid of the truth. Most Americans, my guess is even Republicans, KNOW what the truth is and know he’s hiding it. We Democrats aim to get the truth. And make no mistake. We will force votes on witnesses and documents. And it will be up to four Republicans to side with the Constitution, to side with our Democracy, to side with Rule of Law. And not side in blind obeisance to President Trump in his desire to suppress the truth, because in my judgement he probably thinks he’s guilty.
Today I read the House Manager’s brief, I was in Washington today, and I read the House Manager’s brief.”
