Alas I was not living in the real world momentarily, at least. I was hoping that we could turn the corner again by electing a black woman to the presidency. But that is not the case. Although for different reasons, both black and whites put their eggs in the white man’s basket.
So although I supported Kamala Harris for President. I will now support Joe Biden. I’m making my first contribution today..

Do you think a centrist, corporate-indebted, lightweight republican candidate increases the probability
that our young voters will turn out? Because what we are hearing is No. President Obama wasn’t the ‘safe’ candidate, but what he did was inspire and generate tons of excitement.

    • January 14, 2020 at 11:30 am

Isn’t it time the corporations quit killing people. The super-wealthy are killing us.
Reich has been explaining that to get out of our predicament, we need to pursue an agenda not dictated by corporates. How will we get the turnout needed if we elect a corporate apologist “trolling for millionaires”?

      • 58 Don
        January 14, 2020 at 12:15 pm

To some extent we can blame the corporations and the super-wealthy, but on the other hand we can also blame those voters that have no goddamn reason to be out here voting for the corporations and super-wealthy over their own best interest. I’m a hard working citizen that has never voted againts my own best interest, but I work with a bunch of people that will vote againts their own best interest at the drop of a hat and won’t look back. So how do we go about changing the mind-set of those people, how do we go about changing years and years of conditioning?

        • January 14, 2020 at 1:48 pm

          Hi Don well for starters:
we vote in people who recognize the global corporate oligarchy, and the rise of Neo-fascism,
who e.g. are unafraid and prepared to BOOT OUT FOSSIL FUELS and save the planet,
who don’t take cash from big pharma (or the others who are killing us),
are not beholden to them and thus free to work for US.

I know I’ve been very critical of Joe in the past, it was just my way of kicking the tires. I remember Joe giving an interview once about Barack. Joe said he went to Michelle to get a deeper insight into Barack, which I didn’t really understand at the time. But in retrospect it made perfect sense, I think Joe ran his offer to Kamala by Barack. I like the idea of saying he would give Kamala any job that she wanted, I hope she takes it. And I think it would be a great move on Kamala’s part.

      • January 14, 2020 at 12:28 pm

Honestly, I don’t know what to think. I know Joe’s being sincere but I don’t know if he’d actually offer her the VP and I don’t know what Kamala wants. I think she loves the Senate but it’s obvious she has much higher ambitions. I think they’d make a really great team if POC can get behind her whole heartedly without any of that Kamala Is A Cop BS manufactured by the Bernie Bros and the Kremlin.

        • 68 Don
          January 14, 2020 at 12:41 pm

I’m more concerned about the “53%” than I am about the Kamala is a cop crowd or the Bernie Bros. The POC will come out in full force if Joe puts Kamala on the ticket, this does not mean that the POC won’t come out if kamala insn’t on the ticket.

        • January 14, 2020 at 12:43 pm

I believe that black folks need Hope…we know that we have to struggle and that things do not come easy or fast…but we need hope to believe that our efforts will bear fruit and that our children will have a better way then we did…”The Struggle Continues”

          • 71 Don
            January 14, 2020 at 1:03 pm

I think about this everytime I pick my son up from school. What will his world be like, how will he deal with the world as a black man and how will it deal with him. Black parents have to for the most part raise thier children with a defensive mind-set, as in how to act if you are pulled over by the police. Or how to act if you are confronted in a department store or some similar situation. Please don’t get me started, but you are correct, the struggle is ever present.

            • January 14, 2020 at 1:14 pm

This is why we fight …although there are blk folk who give into the meme that their vote does not count…i KNOW that we do not have the luxury of sitting out an election or of indulging in a protest vote…because it Is our children who will be harmed …

Hard to say and a hard truth:
VP Biden’s voting group is 49+ years.
The young people say they will Not vote if Biden is elected.
Have heard my own young offspring say this emphatically and I wasn’t ready for it.
—Not sure what VP Biden can do about the above but this is the situation.

        • January 14, 2020 at 12:59 pm

that is ..SOME young people…those who may not be in the Bernie camp…drinking the Bernie kool aid…..may be open to a Biden/Harris ticket

          • January 14, 2020 at 1:07 pm

Bernie voters are more than willing to burn the place down, just like the last time.

              January 14, 2020 at 1:32 pm

The thing about the Bernie Bros is that history does not concern them if that history does not include Bernie as being the savior. Bernie has built in their mind a utopia that can only be achieved if he is elected President. And so in their mind it is perfectly reasonable to burn down the Democratic Party if he isn’t the nominee.

          • January 14, 2020 at 1:08 pm

No. My kids and their friends are not for Joe. They’re not for Bernie either.

        • January 14, 2020 at 1:55 pm

If your son said he wouldn’t vote if Joe Biden were the nominee then ask him how he feels about little brown babies in cages or women being forced into deadly back alley abortions or YOU not being able to afford healthcare because you have a pre-existing condition. My young nephew is a registered voter and will vote a straight BLUE ticket because his mother has explained to him #TraitorTrump represents an existential threat to the very existence of black and brown people. We MUST WIN all three branches of govt. to protect the lives of black and brown people which are under EXTREME threat. How anyone PERSONALLY feels about the eventual nominee is irrelevant when we consider what #TraitorTrump would unleash if re-elected. It would be Armageddon against black and brown people HERE and all over the world.

          • January 14, 2020 at 5:32 pm

Joe and Bernie aren’t the only Democrat running!
Corey, Julian, and Kamala are still available for VP.
Good to hear about your nephew.
Yes young people get it that Trump is an extremely dangerous racist and must go.

          • January 14, 2020 at 5:41 pm

And if you’re referring to my children specifically? Yes they will vote for whoever is nominated. My daughter was the main organizer for Obama when she was at University and somehow did 50 things at once.
—But sorry i cannot account for other young people.

My Dream Team has been Joe Biden with Kamala either VP or AG from the start. My thinking is that Joe has the experience and the world recognition to possibly turn around the world disrespect we are currently seeing. Kamala could run after Joe’s turn is over. Whether that is after one or two terms should depend on Joe’s mental or physical health.

Bernie2020: Hi Alycee! It’s Mohamed with Bernie 2020. Bernie has spent his entire life standing up to the greed and corruption of the corporate elite and fighting for ordinary working people. Are you in for Bernie?

    Me: NO!

Bernie2020: Ok, I understand. Do you mind telling me who you plan on supporting?

Me: That is none of your business. Meanwhile, as I have never visited Bernie’s website, nor expressed interest in his campaign, remove my name and contact information from your list. Have a good day.

My view on Bernie Sanders is ya he has not changed his views. He has been in the Senate and House most of his adult life. He believes what he believes and doesn’t waiver. However he does not compromise or build coalitions either. He is more of a loner than a team player. It is his way or the highway. He had not even sponsored bills of importance until he started running for Prez. The only person I want for Prez less than Bernie on our side is Tulsi Gabbard. Oh, our side, ya Bernie meets with the Dems, but he is only using the party. He said an independent could not get enough support to win. Last time he ran and lost he immediately switched back to the Independent party. As I have said I will support our nominee regardless as I tend to be an any Dem over Trump voter.
