Good afternoon, TOD! Love that book; it and Chasing Light were the 2017 Christmas gift to my adult family members. This year I’m giving Yes We Did by Lawrence Jackson.
Good afternoon, Terri! Merry Christmas! What are your holiday plans? If you and Shelia are available, would love to have you for lunch between Christmas and New Year’s.
CF: “Honestly it depends who the Democrats put up and I won’t go any further than that. For me character matters…conduct matters…. and some of this conduct like publicly berating a decorated war veteran… is not just unbecoming, I think it’s distructive to our republic.”
Dear Carly, if conduct and character, plus the state of our republic, really matter to you, why not an unequivocal “No, Trump won’t get my vote”? Republicans expressing views like yours while conditioning their vote on ‘ ‘it depends’ are IMHO actually revealing *their* true **character**.
MoscowMassacreMitch: “Everything I do I will be co-ordinating with the White House Counsel. There will be no difference between the president’s position and our position…hopefully in a fairly short time in total coordination with the WH’s office and the people who are representing the president.”
–On the record. Now what?
Cass Sunstein (most cited legal mind in the country – heck – 40 books!) on Maddow:
“The Senate is supposed to be independent.
And supposed to be impartial.
The whole idea is not to be closely coordinated with the person who is accused of committing an impeachable offense. So that’s built into the leading commentary in the Founding document.”
“Ultimately We The People are in charge, and Senator McConnell is a very important senator but he is not the only senator, and there will be a rebellion, I believe, in the country and in the Senate if he holds to that unconstitutional conception of his role. This is something that is not ambiguous in the Constitution – that the senator is supposed to be an intermediary between the representatives of the people, that is the House of Representatives, and the accused – that is the president…”
(“…the Chief Justice’s role is mostly ceremonial…”)
“there are procedures actually laid out by Republicans in connection with the Clinton and the trial that followed, and that’s actually very fortunate. The Republicans are themselves responsible for the best precedent we have, which means that any grievous departure from that precedent, where thing were done basically above board, and if Senator McConnell deviates dramatically from that procedural regularity…”

Michael Moore pithy as hell on Hayes:
(-Still looking for a link.)
Moore also talked about when he went out for a drink with Corbyn in U.K. And even then Cornyn was in two minds over Brexit. My understand is Corbyn is a nice man, but unsurprising that he didn’t take a strong, focused, central position to Remain and push whole heartedly for a 2nd Referendum.
Hence this comment early on by Moore on Friday:
“Democrats need to LEAD not follow.”

Good Afternoon TODVille. Hang in there. One day, one day, “this” will be over. We simply don’t know the expiration date.
The thing where people are pretending that Obama had all the power in the world to do anything he wanted and didn’t face THE MOST OBSTRUCTIVIST CONGRESS IN US HISTORY is lazy, ahistorical and offensive.
The GOP is BROKEN, corrupt and racist, or hadn’t they noticed?
I’ve come down with a bad chest cold and terrible cough and lost my voice so I won’t be able to join tonight’s national protest focused on the impeachment vote expected tomorrow in the House. I’m so bummed.
But please consider going and taking all your friends with you to show our support for the strong Democrats who have stood up for the future of our democracy. It’s important that we demonstrate our commitment to ridding ourselves of the most corrupt administration in our history. I will be there in spirit, for sure.
I hope you feel better soon, Meta.
I’m planning on going to the one that’s going to be held in front of Sen. Booker’s Camden, NJ office. I hope it stops raining by then. It’s suppose to rain and it will be cold.
It was raining and cold. There was around 120 people that showed up. I left early, because I ran into someone I knew and she was cold and offered to drive me home. I got there by train and had about a 15 min. walk from the station.
I may be able to go, but my daughter is coming home for Christmas from Boston and is flying into LAX this afternoon and her flight has already been delayed twice, so I may not make it. I hope to go to the one on Hawthorne Blvd, in front of Del Amo Mall in Torrance, CA, 20 min from my house. Hopefully I can do both.

I really commend the freshmen representative such as Elissa Slotkin and the representative from NM whose name I can’t recall now … for being true patriots. For putting country over personal gains.
Unlike every single Republican lawmakers.
I am with Chris Matthews on this letter. Of course this sample is only one page out of six. Some of the same phrases are the same as what Trump says over and over again, but there are too many three or more syllable words in it to be Trump’s own writing. It probably was Stephen Miller’s work. Supposedly according to the WH it was Trump’s own letter written by himself.
Gee. I thought I was going to read that this fringe of a democrat was abandoning her presidential campaign. That said, Epiphany begins early in Hawaii, I see.
Ta Nahesi Coates stated as much in his piece ..The First White President…he stated why the media could not cover Trump. -"he is made more dangerous still by the fact that those charged with analyzing him cannot name his essential nature, because they too are implicated in it". https://t.co/Hys5ejgPaW
I am proud to announce that another red state Democrat, Kendra Horn, 5th district Oklahoma, my representative, came out today saying she will vote for impeachment. Her statement is well reasoned and sound, based on the Constitution. “Dark money” has been running ads against her, telling her to vote no on impeachment for about two months now. She is careful and knowledgeable. I am so happy. She and the rep from Utah, each the only Democrat in their state delegation. She will take a lot of grief from the right here for this vote. She upset a Republican in 2018 and is doing a bangup job.
Pelosi's first reaction to Trump's letter. "I don't have a reaction. It's ridiculous," she told me. I asked her why no reaction: "I mean, I haven't full read it. We've been working. I've seen the essence of it. It's really sick." pic.twitter.com/pPhvsb0axh

Hi, Jaqueline! 👋❤️
Good afternoon, TOD! Love that book; it and Chasing Light were the 2017 Christmas gift to my adult family members. This year I’m giving Yes We Did by Lawrence Jackson.
Yes, I love Souza’s book, too! I did get Yes We Did, but I’m saving it to read it over the holidays.
Good afternoon, Terri! Merry Christmas! What are your holiday plans? If you and Shelia are available, would love to have you for lunch between Christmas and New Year’s.
I would love to..Thursday or Friday After Christmas is good.
Outstanding! Friday works best for me; Grandson and his Mom leave sometime on Thursday.
Btw, if any other TOD’rs will be in the area, you’re welcome to join us.
I would love that! Friday after Christmas will be good for me, too.
Great! Plan to arrive anytime after 11; I’ll pick you up at Morton station.
Shelia, if your Mom is visiting, you are welcome to bring her.
Okay. Thank you. I’ll check the train schedule and plan accordingly. I will let you know what time I should get to the Morton Station.
Good Morning, Good Day, Good Afternoon.
Thank You TODville Community for being a place that creates space for folks like me.
NW, you Rock🙌🤗😍😊
Wow! Good for Carly. The united States needs more Republicans to voice these concerns.

Imagine that.
So why is George Conway still married to one of Trump’s most ardent enablers?
Why isn’t his ass in jail yet?
Thread with good Toons! I especially like the one about doing a favor, though:)

It’s pretty gross, isn’t it? Get well, hermana!
I really is. I suck down lots of Starbucks sick tea… as I call it:) Cozy like a snuggly blanket

Thanks, just got home so couldn’t go to rally :(. Is the impeachment vote tomorrow or Friday? I read it had been postponed?
Aren’t they wonderful!
How is this not an ad on tv?
Criminal POS just like the other one
They both need to be jailed, so the second one can’t assume the presidency.
YIKES
So glad that Congressmen Frank Pallone is doing this. I was hoping it wouldn’t take too long for Van Drew’s staff to find employment.
I was also hoping another member of Congress would pick up the phone and offer them staff jobs! Yay!
What does TOD think of This!?
I think it’s great
Somebody tell trump to close his mouth – a bug might fly in it. (Ugh.)
