      Good Morning TODVille!

I’m very curious to hear what type of questions the GOP will use to refute the statements from Mr. Kent and Mr. Taylor.

When I first heard this story, the commentator said not only did it jeopardize an important exercise, one that’s done in many parts of the world to ensure travel through international waters, but it “decreased the morale of the Navy personnel on board.” This is all not only dangerous, but so damn sickening I can barely stand it.

The GOP lawyer’s questions focuses on the Bidens and Mr Kent and Taylor are holding their own very well. It’s disgusting how the GOP are trying to turn the focus away from the phone call on to the Bidens.

It seems like the GOP lawyer is just taking up Trump’s plan to smear the Bidens. Trying to muddy the waters so their followers think both sides do it and stay with them.

Want to interject a post about the stunning Maya Rockeymoore Cummings:
She announced her candidacy in the race for 7th congressional district yesterday morning.
Maya said to Maddow on Monday:
“The fact of the matter is I’ve been fighting all along. You know I have a track record of working on issues like Social Security and Medicare, healthcare, and economic security and certainly technology even. And so you know I was in the forefront of the battle when George W. Bush tried to privatize the system. I’ve been working hard in the trenches at every level of government to advance policies that help working families and so I’m prepared and ready to roll up my sleeves and address what Baltimore needs. Baltimore is a city of great potential but it has lopsided economic outcomes, lopsided healthcare outcomes, lopsided educational outcomes and the poorest people, the black and brown population of the city and surrounding areas are in need of somebody who is willing to launch what I call “and inclusion revolution”, someone who is really ready to challenge to the structural challenges that are in the city and surrounding areas. I believe that a better future is possible for Baltimore, and so I’m looking forward to bringing everything that I’ve got to make sure that we have a better future for this city and the region.”

This Friday Ms. Rockeymoore Cummings will have a preventative double mastectomy. Her Mom died recently from stage 4 breast cancer, and her younger sister recently underwent a double mastectomy. Ms. RC said “I’m going to run this race and I’m going to run it hard as if (Chairman Cummings) is still here right by my side.” Wow, wow! Her strength and determination is truly remarkable. My love and best wishes go to Maya, for her campaign, and peace of mind after the loss of her beloved husband.

THE NINE LIES of Nunes in his opening statement.
    Marcy Wheeler….
“Nunes starts with a lie, that Democrats accused Trump of being an ‘Agent.”
Note: Nunes claims Dems didn’t have more than circumstantial evidence of collusion. Evidence in the Stone trial more than meets Mark Meadows’ definition of collusion.”
“In fact, Mueller said there was evidence of conspiracy, which is stronger than collusion. So far, Two lies in the first seconds of Nunes’ speech.”
“Nunes claims there were 1-sided leaks. Lie number 3.”
“Nunes claims ‘most’ GOP witnesses denied. They got 3 witnesses. Lie number 4.”
”Nunes false says Mark Zaid called for a coup. Lie number 5.”
”Nunes now complaining about projection. Claiming Steele dossier = collusion with Russia, claims Dems defend Hunter Biden having a job. Lies 6 and 7.”
”Note, Nunes claims witnesses don’t know the answers on Hunter Biden. Except a number of witnesses did testify to it. Lie 8.”

NINE LIES of Nunes in his opening statement.
Marcy Wheeler…has for nearly two decades closely followed national security and civil liberties issues:
Points out: “Nunes starts with a lie, that Democrats accused Trump of being an ‘Agent.’”
”Note: Nunes claims Dems didn’t have more than circumstantial evidence of collusion.
Lie 8.”

(DK) “That’s quite the introduction. It isn’t mere lying. There is a scheme here.
As the conservative political activist and former chess champion Garry Kasparov has noted, “The point of modern propaganda isn’t only to misinform or push an agenda. It is to exhaust your critical thinking, to annihilate truth.”

        Ambassador Taylor:
“Even as we sit here today, the russians are attacking Ukrainian soldiers in their own country and have been for the last 4 years. I saw this on the front line last week. The day I was there a Ukrainian soldier was killed and four were wounded. The security assistance we provide is crucial to Ukraine’s defense and to the protection of the soldiers I met on the front line last week. It demonstrates to Ukrainians and russians that we are Ukraine’s reliable and strategic partner. It is clearly in our national interest to deter further russian aggression.”

It seems as though everyone wants to jump in the race to become the next Democratic nominee for President. Though I respect all that are now entering the race, this type of decision should have been made long ago. You just don’t wake up one morning and say “I think I’ll run for President.” It isn’t fair to all the nominees that have participated in all the debates, and have done all the barnstorming and all the groundwork for someone to pop in now and say “Look at me, I’m running.”

    • 83 marleysperson
      November 14, 2019 at 8:57 am

Well, and after all this time, it makes it look like the others aren’t good enough. Bad message. As in, he should have controlled his vanity and stayed out or jumped in earlier when everyone else did. He would make a good President, I’m sure. That’s not the point.

    • November 14, 2019 at 4:33 pm

Agreed, Don. Comes across as an ego thing.

To me, it also sends a message that none of the candidates currently running are good enough. I’m not sure what new entries bring that’s not already out there in some form. And I think it has the potential to dilute the support for the individuals who are currently in the race.

If it’s about sending a message, that can be done without jumping in the race.

Is NPR ok with the U.S. presidency being Trump’s piggy bank. Like, do they want to end the Dark Lord miniseries?
We have criminal action and intent,
the endangerment of United States national security,
    in cooperation with Russia.
    –that all?

      • November 14, 2019 at 11:16 am

As Congressman Castro pointed out at the hearing:
If there are No consequences to Benito’s criminality and jeopardizing U.S. national security, does it mean he can go after anyone in the world, and act on whatever pops into his criminal, compromised mind?
e.g. imo he knew about Kashoggi ahead of time…one more thing being held over him.

I felt like you did about the NPR take using so many conservative voices, not just yesterday, but today too. Hard to see them as a liberal voice as the GOP touts them to be. I think it is all about the funding. After Congress took money away the fundraising time increased and I noticed far Right organizations being mentioned more as sponsors. I also noticed more GOP views being featured during heavy viewership times. They seem to subscribe to the both sides equal time theory.

“On the litigation front yesterday Congress and the rule of law had an important victory as the courts once again resoundingly re-affirmed Congress’s authority to conduct oversight of the Executive Branch on behalf of the American people. Sadly we have a president who does not believe in the separation of powers, says that Article II says he can do whatever he wants. It does not. And he cannot without oversight from Congress and respect legislation passed by the Congress. And so as the court stated, contrary to the president’s argument, the Committee possesses authority under both the House rules and the Constitution to issue the subpoena, and Mazars must comply. Mazars is the accounting firm that has the president’s records.”
