Speak quietly, with authority is of great benefit to these hearings.

I love the Obamas so much. Still humble, still appreciating and maintaining roots. Still caring about others. Can’t see that ever changing.

    Part 2:

Watch the event from SC State University: Starts today at 6pm.
“Black residents and communities of color have faced disproportionate air and water pollution and exposure to environmental hazards, but South Carolina is also home to some of the most successful responses to environmental racism.”

Brava to this hero for our times,
      Greta Thunberg:
“Hi thank you all so much for showing up today. and I’m so grateful to be here with you today, to be here with these inspiring, incredible organizers – I think they are worthy of applause!
So I am very happy to be here in Charlotte in North Carolina. And we recognize that we are standing on colonized indigenous lands, the ones belonging to proud Cherokee, Supone, Catawba and Lumbee peoples. In acknowledging the enormous injustices inflicted upon these people, we must also mention the many enslaved and indentured servants whose labor the world still profits from today. And today is a Friday among many other Fridays, and for well over a year young people from all across the globe have been striking from school every Friday, demanding our leaders to take responsibility and to unite behind the science. But the people in power have not yet done that. They continue to ignore us and to ignore the current best available science. So we have no choice but to go on for as long as it takes. And the last couple of months I’ve had to privilege to travel around in North America. I visited so many incredible places and met so many inspiring people. And it can be hard in times like these to find hope. And I can tell you I have not found much hope in politicians and corporations. It is the People who now are our biggest source of hope. The People are the hope right now. And humanity is now standing at a crossroads, and when we look back at this crucial time we want to be able to say that we did everything we possibly could to push the world in the right direction. And while we young people may not be able to vote or make decisions today in this society, we have something just as powerful – and that is our voices. And we need to use them, whether it is by making the adults surrounding us to vote, or put pressure on the people in power and the politicians who are supposed to serve us. Or whether it is spreading awareness among people our own age to urge them to do the same. (Interruption: Greta says “I think if you want to speak with me personally maybe you can do it later.”) It is we young people who are the future, but there is not enough time to wait for us to grow up and become the ones in charge, because we need to tackle the climate and ecological emergency Right Now! And if the adults and the people in power are too immature to realize that, then we need to let them know and we need to do it Now. Because this is our future and we will not let it be taken away from us. I think the tipping point we are all waiting for is when we the People will truly realize what we can accomplish together. And we know that tipping point will come. The question is just when? No matter how bad the odds may be we will never give, because it is simply not an option. The People are the hope. And as long as we stay united there are no limits to what we can do. Because we are the change and change is coming whether you like it or not! Thank you so much for showing up today and I am so honored to be here.”

Stunning leadership qualities shown by the president* – yet republicans berate people to “respect the office”. There can be no respect while this ignorant rude buffoon is in the White House.

Typically, I have to listen to Chris Hayes (with my earpiece in) because my husband is usually home. This is the first time I have been able to WATCH his live show. OMG! I knew he was good in these live shows, but watching him, he is more than good. He is amazing. As I have said before here, I had a very hard time watching or listening to him the first few years he was on MSNBC. He has grown and developed SOOO much.

Have anyone seen Jeff Sessions video of him announcing that he is running for the Senate, are you sure Session is a man? Session look like a little whimp who has lost his balls, why didn’t his family tell him that he need to stand up and act like a real man, not someone who is following on his knees willing and eagerly ready to kiss Trump ass. I was never a fan of that racist Session, maybe he is getting just what he deserve.

Good day, TODvillagers! Hope you’re having a blessed Saturday.

ps: If you haven’t already, you simply have to go to the link in the AD tweet above and watch the 10 minute video tour (via golf cart) that Tyler gives. I absolutely loved it! It made me, for the first time in my life wish I could visit “a” studio lot – i.e. this one.

      • 62 Dudette
        November 9, 2019 at 11:45 am

Hiya VC! I definitely wanna go when they open up tours to the public. From what I’ve seen of videos and photos the whole complex is jaw-dropping.

        • 63 vcprezofan2
          November 9, 2019 at 12:56 pm

Isn’t it though, D-ette? Happy sigh! I was captivated by the sights along with the narration AND I am NOT a movie person. Don’t tell anyone, but I have never watched any of his sitcoms/shows/movies other than seeing a snippet here and there along the way, but that studio would be an enjoyable visit. On the other hand, there is no way that I’m visiting the US while the criminal is still at the helm, so if you get to get enjoy it for both of us.

            November 9, 2019 at 2:13 pm

Hopefully Krusty45 will be outta there “soon”. Would love to join you on the tour.

I really liked some of his movies: Both “Why Did I Get Married” movies, Daddy’s Little Girls, For Colored Girls and Good Deeds in particular. Saw a couple of the Madea movies – they were ok. I actually like seeing him act when he’s not Madea, because he has such an extraordinary onscreen presence, you just wanna watch what he’s doing. One day I hope to gird myself well enough to stomach watching “Vice” – he got big props for his performance as Colin Powell.

            • 65 vcprezofan2
              November 9, 2019 at 2:59 pm

The only snippets I’ve ever seen were from his Madea persona which I did not at all like and did not even watch to the end. Offspring used to get exasperated with me re movies, telling me often I needed (to activate my) ‘suspension of disbelief’. Prolly why he mostly goes to movies with friends.

We’ll see about the joint tour. 😉 The other tour that interests me will be the Obama Foundation one, which hopefully will be ready when The Criminal Idiot is removed. Til then ….

          November 9, 2019 at 1:14 pm

I remember when Joy’s shows use to be the anti/Biden show. They may cover Biden, but it is mostly in a negative way. They have pretty much written his campaign off with the phrase ” I am hearing a lot of concern from Democrats and donors”.

          • November 9, 2019 at 2:20 pm

I wish they would just let the people vote! Let the candidates run their campaigns and then let the people listen for themselves and vote. Instead, we get their endless gossip and horserace nonsense and promotion of one over the other to sway opinion and create ratings for a circus Let the people cast a vote, my God.

          • 75 jacquelineoboomer
            November 9, 2019 at 9:41 pm

I’ve noticed that, too, COS. So annoying.

    • November 9, 2019 at 11:47 am

No matter who you are rooting for as your candidate, I think people have to admit that the MSM has been selectively and aggressively promoting certain candidates over others, giving excessive exposure to some and completely ignoring others, which ultimately gets reflected in the polling. I’m saying this not just to whine about it but because I think it’s so glaringly obvious who the MSM has chosen to win and everything they do is to reinforce the battle lines that render that result. That alone makes me furious.

      • November 9, 2019 at 11:59 am

Yes! Strategy wise, MSN seems to be for Biden and against all other, Their headlines cite negative towards the more liberal candidates and insidiously prop up Trump = keep saying he will win and falsely claim Americans are not so interested in impeachment. Once again it is corporate America protecting their interests.

      • 79 jacquelineoboomer
        November 9, 2019 at 7:04 pm

Understand your agita about all this, meta! And I agree with what you wrote. It’s so unfair, no matter who our candidate is. Even after I posted this note about Sen. Harris’ appearance tomorrow on AM Joy, I found that other tweet where Joy was chastised for so clearly being about somebody else for the nomination but then giving a “few minutes” to Kamala Harris tomorrow, more or less pro forma. (I don’t mean to imply she’s the only one … of course, she isn’t.) With everything we’re all dealing with, we do not need distractions-as-usual, because these are anything but usual times. Hang in there.

      • November 10, 2019 at 8:12 am

Yes Bob. We are in extraordinary times. I suspect, given the history of our country it will take extraordinary efforts to beat back the darkness that is threatening to overwhelm us. So long ago you mentioned that #TruthAndReconciliation had to be led by white folks. I never believed that it was possible that many could see thru their own racism and privilege to do so. My daughter does not believe it either. But she holds out hope.

The victories in VA and in the midwest are like kool clean water to a thirsty person.

As you know we are in race to win the presidency. To get rid of Trump. But i do not hear much about how we must tackle Trumpism- white nationalism, racism, white privilege. Biden opened his campaign with taking on Trump and Trumpism. Harris speaks on Trump and Trumpism and uses that as a backdrop for policies that will help to negate Trumpism. Castro by far uses his platform to address the wrongness of Trumpism.

However the media gives scant attention to Harris and Castro. And what they give to Biden is bad press using Trumps talking points.

Will end here. Just a bit long winded this morning.

    • November 10, 2019 at 10:37 am

shows to go you about different perspectives: When I lived in a certain state in the west I LOVED the dirt roads and didn’t want to see them paved. As long as they got bladed in the winter snow nobody had any issue. Also it meant the developers hadn’t moved in. Paving means infrastructure and excuses to start packing houses in. So this guy was talking about a lot more than that.
