“81% of Republicans say it ‘s wrong to seek electoral help from a foreign government.”
“The large cohort of Americans saying that soliciting foreign interference wasn’t okay with them included a rather eye-popping 81% of Republicans, 85% of evangelicals, and 87% of rural dwellers.”

While we’re looking the other way plus how to stop more Trumps:
“A well-funded, highly coordinated national effort is underway to call a constitutional convention,
under Article V of the U.S. Constitution, for the first time in history. The result of such a convention could be a complete overhaul of the Constitution and supporters of the convention are dangerously close to succeeding.
With special interest groups gaining more momentum, conservative advocates are just six states short of reaching the constitutionally-required 34-state goal. They are targeting Republican-controlled legislatures in 2018
    and are within striking distance.”
“Now other than finding it hypocritical that the very people who demand we stick to the original text of the U.S. Constitution want to rewrite it, this is also a bad idea.”

there is a piece missing from him. Baby and child abductor and torturer risking and taking innocent lives every day. The growing nightmare number of cruelly detained children is unfathomable and inexplicable.
      Release the children.

Nerdy Wonka thank you for posting the Obama Foundation Summit yesterday via obama.org. and for the photos of this gorgeous event. Saw a lot of it live and was left with an image of the O.P.C. emitting light from a beacon.
What PBO actually said yesterday was:
“…This will be the heartbeat. This will be the beacon from which we are sending out a signal that the values we believe in are shared. And that they are strong. And that they can overcome those who would undermine them. And we can make progress.”

A forensic pathologist hired by Jeffrey Epstein’s brother said on Wednesday that evidence suggested that Mr. Epstein did not die by suicide, but may have been strangled.

The New York City medical examiner’s office concluded Mr. Epstein hanged himself in his jail cell while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

But the private pathologist, Dr. Michael Baden, said on the morning TV show “Fox & Friends” that Mr. Epstein, 66, experienced a number of injuries — among them a broken hyoid bone — that “are extremely unusual in suicidal hangings and could occur much more commonly in homicidal strangulation.”

Chile cancels international conference where Trump hoped to sign trade deal with China

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting was scheduled for mid-November in Santiago, but President Sebastián Piñera announced the cancellation Wednesday. His administration has struggled to suppress growing demonstrations in the capital city over issues of inequality.
President Trump was scheduled to attend the forum Nov. 15-17, during which White House officials said he was planning to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in a bid to lock down a “phase one” trade deal with China.

Wow McCarthy and crew told a mega-truckload of lies today. (will find links)
Via C-Span i sat through the Congressional speeches + news conferences of both parties.
Putin Party likes to talk about the “bunker in the basement” that they used ad nauseam for the thoroughly debunked Bengazi-gate. Fact: They set those very rules themselves in 2015. And are now whining about “secrecy” and “closed door meetings”. In 2019 when the WH withholds all documents, claims executive power, and blocks witnesses there must be a legal recourse. (Recently Gowdy stated that ‘closed door’ is the best way to get to the facts.). We’ve seem the long list of Republicans in Congress who had access to the hearings in the SCIF. Fact: Even with reserved seating many chose not to use those privileges. Guessing when the transcripts are released (going forward) and the hearings are on public display and GOP get their fake wish… Trumpsky will be pining for the fjords.

I wish Democrats (and the media) will remind everyone that House is indeed working on issues that are important to the lives of citizens. They have passed/are passing bills that have been buried in Moscow Mitch’s graveyard. And since Democrats can walk and chew gum at the same time, in addition to their legislative duties, they are also carrying out their oversight duties.

It irks me to see Repugs being given a forum to spew their lies…that House Democrats have only been focused on impeaching 45….and the media does nothing to correct that lie.

I remember watching a movie some years ago with Luke Perry and Ashley Judd. Luke was a rookie police officer. And one night after work he meets Judd in a bar, and they start a relationship and soon afterwards they get married. Unbeknownst to Luke, Judd’s character is mentally unstable. After finding out that his wife is mentally unstable Luke goes about trying to make the marriage work. As the bills pile up, Luke decides to start robbing banks at his wife’s urging. Even though it goes against everything that Luke stands for he continues to rob banks, and Judd’s character mental state starts to deteriorate. Finally, it goes all wrong as Judd’s character gets killed in a shoot out in a failed bank robbery. As his wife lay dying beside him, Luke’s character commits suicide after being cornered by the police. I thought of this movie as I was watching the impeachment inquiry vote. I was thinking to myself that some of those Republicans despise Trump, even though in public they agree with everything he does or says. It is a helluva thing to go against everything that you stand for in the misguided belief that your loyalty will be returned, or somehow save you from whatever lurks around the corner.

At the Dem News Conference today,
    Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, Caucus Chair:
“The president yesterday directed his Republican defenders to “focus on substance”.
That’s what House democrats have been doing from the very beginning, and we invite our Republican colleagues pursuant to the direction of the president to do the same.
    What is this all about?
Congress on a bipartisan basis allocated $391 million dollars to Ukraine in military and economic assistance because we deemed it in our national security interest. Ukraine right now is under attack from Russian-backed separatists. Ukraine is a friend, Russia is a foe. Ukraine is a democracy. Russia is a dictatorship.
The United States may very be the only thing standing between Vladimir Putin and Ukraine being completely over-run by Russia, as part of his fantasy to reconstruct what he views as the ‘glory days’ of the Soviet Union.
In that context: Congress allocated the 391 million dollars in a bipartisan fashion.
In February, the Administration wrote to Congress and said. “the aid is on the way”.But it never showed up.
And then in May, the Trump Department of Defense wrote to Congress again and said the “Aid is on the way”.
And in the letter said: “ALL NECESSARY PRECONDITIONS HAVE BEEN MET BY THE NEW UKRAINIAN GOVERNMENT, INCLUDING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ANTI-CORRUPTION PROTOCOLS.”
That was in the letter sent by Trump’s Department of Defense in May, and yet the aid never showed up. Twice during the summer, Mitch McConnell called up the Trump Administration and said “where’s the aid?”. Mitch McConnell couldn’t get a good answer. And then on July 18th at the White House, the office of Management and Budget holds a meeting. Mulvaney is there apparently. Where they say the aid has not been released at the explicit direction of the president of the United States of America.
On July 25th, one week later, we understand why. His own words: “Do us a favor, though.”
Pressuring a foreign government to target an American citizen for political gain, and thereby solicit foreign interference in the 2020 election, while withholding this aid from a vulnerable Ukraine.
Mr. President, that’s the substance of the matter. That’s what we’re going to focus on moving forward.
