    Thanks, Nerdy darlin’!

Hi, JOB! Sending you hugs. BTW, how are the grands doing?

Nerdy, I, too add my thanks. Don’t know what we would do without this safe harbor…

With you on the safe harbor that Nerdy gives us!

And thanks for asking – the grands and great grands are all doing very well! My two great grandsons are in 3rd grade and Kindergarten now, and I’m loving the stories. Apparently, this is the year the 3rd grader develops his love for Science (a family trait that skipped me) – and the Kindergartener develops his love for little girls in his class. Too sweet.

I’m more concerned about all the people that actually heard the phone call and DIDN’T do anything about it than I am about the whistleblower. We are in a constitutional crisis, it is beyond time for Pelosi to act.

      • 72 marleysperson
        September 20, 2019 at 9:26 am

It’s getting scary now. We can’t depend on people to do the right thing for their country…. to my mind, Pelosi has no choice but to act. People voted for Democratic candidates in part, to hold these crooks and liars accountable. If that doesn’t happen, her calculations will be all off!! She will not only NOT hold the House, but all will be lost to a criminal tyrant

Do you think Professor Tribe speaks to the Democratic leaders on a regular basis? He should.

    • 74 jacquelineoboomer
      September 20, 2019 at 10:00 am

I often wonder that, myself. So sick of these constitutional and law experts with huge reputations harping against Democrats all day long, when they could ask to meet directly with the congressional caucus and/or presidential candidates and offer their advice first-hand. People like Tribe would be welcomed. Sick of all those real experts who point fingers from afar, when their counsel should be what they’re freely willing to give directly without the damn name calling. The latter is making them feel high and mighty, but they need to refocus and come down off their comfortable and lofty perches and get their hands dirty.

      • September 20, 2019 at 3:46 pm

        Amennnnnnnnnnn to the 5th power….

Bette Midler is being freaking ridiculous. Between this and her previous tweet on race, she is line-stepping and needs to get back in her lane.

This constant demand and expectation for Black women and hyper-visible Black women to continually labor to save this ungrateful country from itself is tiring. Where is Taylor Swift? She was mum all through the 2016 elections and afterward. Then she suddenly woke from her “coma” and realized Trump is evil. No shit, Taylor. Why isn’t Bette calling on her own fans and other white people to get their shit together.

You create a mess and then Black women are supposed to swoop in and fix it over and over again. We’re tired. Fix your own crap. Bette is rightfully getting dragged on Twitter.

    • September 20, 2019 at 9:45 pm

Am right there w/u, NW. So, when there’s a movement, Black Women’s voices are ignored. Until … (Oh, reality sucks, right to the core, eh?), then it’s, please, Black Women, get us out of out of our self-inflicted wounds. We promise, pretty please, to treat you as our equals. Riiight! 😏 Let’s take a side-eye journey thru our history. Ahem! Once again: Riiight! 😏 Midler is a celebrity, why not use her voice to address/redress all these Becky’s proliferating everywhere? Uggh, I can go on. Gonna stop now & find my corner chair & be still! 😇

Bunches of thanks, NW, for all you do to have this space for us. I think I would be a permanent resident of my corner chair otherwise! 😂

““Multiple, independent lines of evidence show a massive reduction in the abundance of birds,” said Ken Rosenberg, the study’s lead author and a senior scientist at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and American Bird Conservancy…for the first time, the results also showed pervasive losses among common birds across all habitats, including backyard birds.”
Almost 90% of the birds lost came from 12 common songbird families like sparrow, blackbirds, warblers, finches and swallows. Shorebirds have also lost one-third of their population, and grassland birds lost more than 720 million, resulting in a 53% population reduction. Forests across North America lost more than 1 billion birds.
The extreme loss matches a similar picture emerging around the globe. The loss of grassland birds in North America is similar to a decline in farmland birds across Europe, according to the study. The study did not analyze causes of the declines. But widespread population decline is usually due to a LOSS OF HABITAT and factors that interfere with breeding and increase mortality.””

“New research shows that surveyed animal populations have declined by more than 50 percent on average in the last two generations….
The average Living Planet Index score for freshwater populations has plummeted by 83 percent, meaning that populations of water-dwelling animals has declined by this amount on average.”

    • September 20, 2019 at 12:00 pm

“Stemming the tide of extinction will require cooperation on a global scale,
so scientists have been alarmed by an international backsliding on environmental regulations.

E.O. Wilson in ‘The Future of Life’ :
“Perhaps the time has come to cease calling it the ‘environmentalist’ view, as though it were a lobbying effort outside the mainstream of human activity, and to start calling it the real-world view.”
Animal conservation isn’t a special interest anymore. It’s a human interest.”

    Documentary: “Where’s My Roy Cohn?”
“It’s an occasion to once again look at Cohn and ask how much of him and his “savage,” “abrasive” and “amoral” behavior is visible in the behavior of the current president.”
Trump’s mentor Roy Cohn “got away with it until he didn’t.”
“Cohn did not, in the end, elude the consequences of his actions. He could not, it turned out, get away with everything forever.
“an intimidator and a bluffer,” attorney Arthur Liman would write, “famous among lawyers for winning cases by delays, evasions, and lies.”
“He will stop at nothing,” a law school classmate once told Esquire.
“He didn’t pay his taxes, either, racking up millions of dollars in liens.”
“Roy,” according to an attorney in his office, “couldn’t have given less of a shit about rules.”
“At a most formative moment for Trump, there was no more formative figure than Cohn.”

“What’s happened is exactly as if someone went to the police to report a crime, and the police
responded by asking the criminal if it should be investigated and turning all the documents over to him.
    1) A whistleblower filed a confidential report over a matter that, by definition, isn’t an issue of policy, but a serious breach of law or threat to national security.
    2) That report was supposed to go to Congress. It did not.
    3) Rather than notify Congress of the existence of the report, acting DNI Joseph Maguire shared the report with the subject of the report, asking if it should be withheld.
    4) Congress found out about the report only because it was notified by the inspector general.
    5) Maguire ordered the inspector general not to assist the whistleblower in meeting with Congress, as the law requires.
    6) The White House and the Department of Justice moved to smother the report, claiming that it is not in the scope of an intelligence report—but the law does not allow them to make this judgment.
    7) The report now appears to have been shared broadly across the White House, meaning that the identity of the whistleblower is deeply endangered, and Trump’s team is at this very minute getting a chance to remove evidence of wrongdoing without anyone being aware.”
    (https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2019/9/20/1886749/–Everyone-at-the-White-House-has-read-the-whistleblower-report-in-another-blatant-violation-of-law#view-story)

How can anyone be proud of that man in the White House? For so long all we heard from Trump and his supporters was LOCK HER UP, if anyone ought to be lockup it is DONALD J. TRUMP. So we now know that Sleepy Joe scares Trump to death.

  72. September 20, 2019 at 6:02 pm

Fmr DOJ chief spokesperson Miller tweeted:
“If [Trump] was promising U.S. government action in exchange for a foreign government targeting a political [opponent], that is about as high a crime and misdemeanor as one can imagine.”
