Thank you, Nerdy. Thank you, Barack Obama for reminding us of our humanity and kindness. I was going to post something, but I’m just going to savor this for now.

Wlll we let Doom enrich himself and his global enablers by opening up the ineffably precious ANWR?
GOP has a tale about opening up 19 million acres to oil exploration so that snake Murkowski would vote for the Trump tax bill in 2017. Trump is also going after the Tongass, the world’s largest intact temperate rainforest, crown jewel and lungs of the world critically needed as the Amazon is burning. Bent on destroying the Arctic, endangering the planet and trashing the U.S.A. Are ye cod? Are we going to let the Great Pretender on short time do this to our future?

    • September 13, 2019 at 11:17 am

Not news that most wars are tied to oil. Our children are facing mega hurricanes, mega droughts, mega tornadoes, mega floods, happening in a more violent, more extremely, more frequently, famine, drought, millions of people displaced. The fossil fuel industry globally has created this catastrophe, covered up their scientific knowledge of the coming climate crisis for 40 years, stolen $billions in tax payer subsidies, and now have the brass balls to ramp up a battle and competition in the sublime Arctic.

    • September 13, 2019 at 11:22 am

      PLANETARY JUSTICE:
We have the technology to move radically to renewable energy. Sunshine is free for 5 billion years.
We need presidential candidates that will move aggressively for big structural change not “normalcy”.
Hold the fossil fuel industry and their political backers accountable for destroying our planet!
= Jail time to oil corporates and $trillions in damages to the people present and future of this Earth.

Yesterday while out walking I heard a child cry and went back to see a woman slapping someone around in the back of a car. Close up i saw a terrified 18 month-old boy. A younger child was cowering on the other side of the car. I think they were strapped in. Many of us endured being knocked around when young by a frustrated parent who grew up with same But can we do differently? Can we transcend? Can we truly be the grown up? Children are not small adults. They don’t think like us. Everything is new. Being strapped into a car is not fun. May we relinquish delusion and the culture of cruelty.

I was reading the last thread from last night before coming here. I asked a question during the debate last night as to who and what the disturbance in the room was about? I even wondered if it could be a Trump supporter group. It turns out it was a DACA protest group wanting to hear what the Democrats planned to do about the immigrant situation. It was reported since there was no discussion about it they would not be voting for Democrats. I would not have guessed that. However, as I reflect on it they would not be able to vote anyway, maybe they meant support the Dems. Regardless, the choice of topics at the debate was not necessarily controlled by the candidates. Why would the protest group want the GOP who ripped away DACA, jailed and separated families, took away safeguards, encouraged the hateful ways, etc have a better chance at winning?

An email that i received from FairFightAction

    Sheila

Last week, Republican state parties in Arizona, Kansas, Nevada, and South Carolina decided that they will cancel their presidential primary elections and caucuses next year, silencing millions of Republican voters in an effort to undermine any member of the GOP who would dare challenge Trump.

We know the playbook for Trump and his allies. They’ve made voter suppression for political gain a cornerstone of this administration.

And the reality is that these efforts to suppress the vote are entirely legal even though they are wholly wrong. In this case, state parties can pick and choose whether to hold presidential primaries and caucuses, and because the law permits it, the remedies are limited.

But your access to the ballot shouldn’t depend on whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican. Because in a democracy, every eligible American should be able to exercise their right to vote.

We know that canceling elections won’t be the only way Republicans try to block voters from the ballot before 2020. Because those who would silence the will of the people prefer a system that intimidates anyone willing to challenge the status quo.

We’ll continue to step up and demand justice for voters at every turn, but we need your help.
Thank you for all you do,
    Team Fair Fight

    ***************

    Think about this…

the GOP will take the vote away from anyone…even their own voters..as a way to maintain Power

Every fucking day a new blow to our “democracy”. No outrage by the masses, just sitting in our collective “PTSD” with what is going on (T= Trump). I don’t believe the masses even care, or they are so disengaged they don’t even know what is happening.

TUNE IN: Joe Biden Speaks At The 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama

Thank you Jer44 for posting this speech. We have all been spoiled by PBO’s time in office and his excellent style of delivery. It was inspiring. I find myself a little let down with Joe’s delivery and style, but it would be close to impossible for anyone to compare with Obama.
Joe is far superior to the present President. The words of the speech were meaningful and he delivered them in a heartfelt manner. Joe feels in his own being the injustice we are experiencing at present. I was impressed he could read the speech without reading glasses as I would not have been able to.
I hear arguments from others that Joe is too old that we need younger blood in that position. I favor Joe because I know his heart after his being a partner with Obama for eight years. The world knows him too. If we ever can regain the world’s respect Joe would be able to get there faster than someone new after this last President. I am for pairing Joe with someone that can partner with him as he did with Barack. I favor a woman that could step into the role and run after one term. I still think Kamala Harris would be strong and am liking Amy Klobachur (sp?) after the last debate seeing her stance is closer to matching Biden’s than Elizabeth Warren’s. Stacy Abrams has impressed me too. EW might be needed to keep the progressives excited.

Highest integrity is needed for the SC. So of course the NYT investigation found that Kavanaugh lied (duh). FBI witness interviews were blocked by the WH. (Now blocking witnesses and subpoenas, etc.) In the Ramirez case 20 witnesses were NOT interviewed. Twenty!
Plus NYT found the young man Ms. Ford spoke about who worked at the supermarket. He WAS at the party and presumably knows the location of the party.
Kavanaugh bullied and raged like a drunk on that stand…how does have ANY cred at all?
–Mafia Don and GOP want Kavanaugh there to protect their crime organization as needed.
–imo law enforcement and NI must be proactive.
Trump Organization is in the WH and running the USA.

Some will complain because Biden didn’t talk about polices, specially the cable pundits, and Biden haters. To me it was not the time to talk about policies. It was the time to talk about what kind of country do we want to be, do we want to accept hate, racism or fight against it. That we have made progress, but there is lots more to do. We don’t want to go backward, as Trump is taking us, we want to move forward.
