“America at present is already a surreal nightmare.”
“A mentally unwell ignorant violent racist sexist greedy and cruel reality TV show host is president.
He leads a political cult. Christian Nationalists and Christian Dominionists want to transform the United States into a “biblically correct” society in violation of the United States Constitution and its guiding principle that church and the state should be separate. And Donald Trump, a proud and resplendent sinner, is viewed by right-wing Christians as god’s prophet and their savior. And the so-called resistance and other people of conscience are still struggling to create a cohesive and coordinated movement to oppose American fascism as birthed by Donald Trump’s adminstration.

    • July 25, 2019 at 11:14 am

PENCE: “Michael Pence — Trump’s vice president — is a Christian Fascist who does his movement’s bidding as he and the Republican Party work to overturn women’s reproductive rights and freedoms as part of an overall assault on human rights and human dignity in America and around the world. Pence and the Christian Right’s obsessions with supposedly “protecting the unborn” and
“living the principles of Jesus Christ” (their distorted version of him) DOES NOT EXTEND to having any empathy for the brown and black babies, children, and adults being held in Trump’s concentration camps and otherwise terrorized by Trump’s regime.”

“The Constitution is starkly godless. Its only religious references are to prevent intermixing church and state.”

Yesterday while his minions were disrespecting Mr. Mueller,
“A judge ruled that Trump and his three children must face a class-action lawsuit that accuses the Trumps of engaging in multilevel marketing fraud.” (https://www.politicususa.com/2019/07/24/trump-sued-fraud.html)

  9. July 25, 2019 at 11:42 am

“Wednesday was a disaster. The Russia scandal is back front and center in the news, and more importantly, the nation is once again focused on the potential criminal activity of Donald J. Trump.” (Easley)

    • July 25, 2019 at 11:43 am

Meanwhile NPR focused on Mr. Mueller himself rather than the Trump calamities at stake for the country.
However they kindly interviewed one democrat – in the interests of “fair and balanced”.

So…can America get a Jon Stewart type personality to force the public to see how GOP senators are blocking election security ? Who has the voice that can shame these creeps? Again I ask…is Condoleezza Rice still alive? Former National Security adviser and Secretary of State …why has she not stepped up and added her voice. I really don’t understand why the GOP leaders are silent. She would have the power to call out this shame.

McConnell-sky just blocked 2 election security bills.
He said it was because Democrats are trying to get “political benefit” (and because GOP is not voting for it…!)
Yesterday SC Mueller warned that Russia is preparing to mess with our 2020 election, again, again.
McConnevil has had a very nice run on behalf of Oil, Koch brothers and the Kremlin.

      Beautiful babeling.
None of my beeswax…totally…and most of us long haired know this of course.
But after years of managing very long curly hair,
I understood that you brush gently by increments,
starting at the end of the hair
and moving up towards the roots.
(When I mentioned this to 2 little girls in India who were screeching while detangling each other’s hair, their Mom all but kissed me. Magic!!)

      • July 27, 2019 at 2:23 am

That did happen while visiting India. But now see this all springs from when I was little and every morning big sister would have me agonizing while she put my hair up, complete with chocolate box bow ready for school. If I squealed she’d say “Offer it up to purgatory!”. We laughed about it later – she was great – but this part of being a kid was not! Hence the thing about hair brushing…apologies.

    Chairman Nadler:
““We will win the court fight because the legal excuses the White House has been using are extraordinarily weak from a legal point of view…It will open up the floodgates to all, to enforce all the subpoenas and get all the testimonies because they’re all the same nonsense legal argument,” he said.””
“McGahn, a star witness in the 448-page Mueller report released in April, told federal investigators that Trump directed him to seek Mueller’s removal and then to deny that he had been instructed to do so. Democrats view the alleged episode as an act of obstruction of justice that could lead to impeachment proceedings against Trump.”

September: “In a historic first, two climate forums announced for 2020 Democratic candidates.”
According to Youth Sunrise Movement tweet, CNN will have a town hall with 8 candidates:
MSNBC will have a multi-day climate forum in partnership with Georgetown.
“The MSNBC event will notably coincide with a planned week-long “global climate strike” across at least 150 countries.” (Thinkprogress)

    • July 26, 2019 at 12:29 pm

Notably after pressing for this event,
Governor Inslee has said he will not attend the forums!
See his plan “Freedom from Fossil Fuels: End Corporate Welfare, Hold Polluters Accountable, and Transition the U.S. Economy off Fossil Fuels.”
–Come on Gov Inslee!! We need your dedication, passion, and devotion for climate action.

    • July 26, 2019 at 12:33 pm

“We don’t have 12 years to save the climate. We have 14 months.
The deadline for protecting our children from a ruined climate is close at hand.”
Until Trump, we were making steady progress under President Obama.
NOW: “if we don’t make “very deep cuts (in carbon emission) by 2030, we have no possible chance of keeping below 1.5 degrees — and if we don’t make deep cuts by 2030 we are going to blow past 2 degrees.”
—Yes climate denier$ are willing to end the planet! Investigate their ties to Big Oil, Putin.

    • July 26, 2019 at 12:34 pm

“If the world is to have any plausible chance of saving the climate, we need the strongest possible action by 2030, and that means we need to elect a president in 2020 who understands the urgency, and who understands that deadlines matter in the face of irreversible catastrophe.”
      —Deadlines matter.

Bill Weld on O’Donnell last night:
Weld (Mueller’s former boss and mentor) said he would have indicted Trump.
He explained the Office of Legal Council only have 2 clients, the president and the attorney general. And the OLC decision not to indict a sitting president is not a judicial one. (It’s more like a brief.)
-Was emphatic that he would have indicted Trump.

    • July 26, 2019 at 1:57 pm

Neal Katyal who co-wrote the rules on the Supreme Counsel:
With Chris Hayes on July 24th:
Katyal: “Barr himself after the report was turned in said hey actually, Mueller could have reached a conclusion about – could have exonerated or could have indicted, you know said this person committed a crime. And so I was a little surprised the Democrats didn`t push on that.”

    • July 26, 2019 at 1:59 pm

      Yesterday with O’Donnell,
Katyal said indictment of Trump while in office is possible. (have roughly transcribed)
“On January 21 202, assuming he loses, president Trump he will not have immunity from prosecution at the federal level. The second route…is that state prosecutors could still indict.
Now on the OLC opinion, that is a federal opinion. And in our Constitutional system…we have a separate set of prosecutors – state prosecutors – and they aren’t bound by any way, shape or form by the Office of Legal Council opinion.”

    • July 26, 2019 at 2:01 pm

(Seems obvious Trump wants second term to his extend get out of jail free card):
Katyal: “But OLC has language that say the statute of limitations will be held in abeyance and can still indict him even if he were to win….This administration is “totally lawless, the president is thumbing his nose at the Congress and the Courts, saying “I don’t need to show up to be interviewed by Mueller…McGahn doesn’t need to show up even though there’s a subpoena against him…this is the culmination of that kind of thinking, “I am effectively the king, you can’t indict me, and I have such immunity that I can outrun the statute of limitations.” I cannot think what our Founders would have thought about a President making such ridiculous, anti-Constitutional assertions.”

    • July 26, 2019 at 2:02 pm

      Also previously:
Katyal: “And I think the fundamental question is do we let the Democrats continue with seeing this as a political thing. That`s a mistake. This is a rule of law and this is about the heart and soul of our country. When you have a president, who like yesterday said Article Two of the Constitution allows me to do anything and he acts this way cozying up to the Russians, doing all of this stuff, I mean, this is precisely what the whole tradition is country rebels against.”
