Hoping that in his closing remarks:
Mr. Mueller will say what GOP would not allow him to say when they aggressively and disrespectfully talked at him and over him, making serial assertions that were untrue, falsely saying it had finally “been put to bed”.
For example, I hope he clarifies the “collusion” issue that Ratcliffe tried to finagle.
—Let’s hear Mr. Muelller clarify and reinforce that issue 100% loud and CLEAR before this is over.

It’s really sad that the Republicans on this committee are interested in conspiracy and sliming a man that did hard honest work just to prop up a fraudulent criminal that cheated to win. Everyone needs to see this and keep that in mind.

EXPLAINER: WHAT IT WOULD TAKE FOR CONGRESS TO IMPEACH TRUMP

…The Senate is controlled by Trump’s fellow Republicans, meaning that any impeachment proceedings that might begin in the House would likely die in the Republican-controlled Senate, unless public sentiment were to shift dramatically in favor of removing the president. …

Impeachment begins in the House, which debates and votes on whether to bring charges against the president via approval of an impeachment resolution, or “articles of impeachment,” by a simple majority of the House’s 435 members.

If the House approves such a resolution, a trial is then held in the Senate. House members act as the prosecutors; the senators as jurors; the chief justice presides. A two-thirds majority vote is required in the 100-member Senate to convict and remove a president. This has never happened. …

The Senate now has 53 Republicans, 45 Democrats and two independents who usually vote with the Democrats. Conviction and removal of a president would require 67 votes. So, for Trump to be impeached, at least 20 Republicans and all the Democrats and independents would have to vote against him. …

Just found out that Rutger Hauer has died. (stunning replicant in ‘Bladerunner’).
HOW he fired my imagination with his last words (which he wrote) in the movie:
“I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.”
–Somehow I remembered it as “these eyes have seen Orion” and man I wanted to see whatever that was. It drove me on in an important way…and I did see it. My tears and thanks Mr. Hauer and godspeed.

    Rachel Maddow nailed the moment:
“Robert Mueller went way beyond what anyone was expecting at the hearings. Mueller revealed that Trump and his associates are still under investigation for vulnerability to Russian blackmail.
There is no way that anyone could look at this hearing and find that Robert Mueller is anything less than a patriot who was hamstrung by the special counsel law that he was working under.
Mueller clearly is disgusted by Trump’s behavior to the point where he went beyond Adam Schiff’s characterization and labeled Trump’s activities a crime.”

  67. July 24, 2019 at 7:11 pm

    wow.
Chairman Nadler’s press conference remarks (have transcribed):
    “Chairman Nadler:
    “Thank you Madam Speaker.
Today the American people heard directly about what the Special Counsel Investigation uncovered.
As to Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, and the president’s cooperation with it, and obstruction of justice. Mueller made clear that the president is not exonerated.
Mueller found evidence of obstruction of justice and abuses of power by the president.
The report said the president could be indicted for obstruction of justice after he leaves office.
Mueller found that Trump would and did benefit from Russia’s help. And that the campaign welcomed that help. Mueller found multiple instances where all 3 elements for charging criminal obstruction of justice were met:
Trying to fire the Special Counsel in order to stop the investigation.
Trying to have people lying and cover up for him, for the same purpose.
Trying to ilimit or mpede or restrict the Special Counsel’s investigation.
Trying to tamper with witnesses – tamper with witness cooperating with investigators.
All of these were found with great evidence. President Trump went to great lengths to obstruct the Special Counsel’s investigation. Anyone else who acted in this way, if they were not the sitting president, would face criminal prosecution, would face indictments. Only the Office of Legal Council’s opinion that you cannot indict a sitting president has saved, or is saving, the president from indictment. Because all the elements of these crime were found with substantial evidence. The people have now heard this.
The president’s chant of “no obstruction” is nonsense.
His chant that he has been totally exonerated is a simple lie.”
