He is. That’s all I’m asking Democrats not to forget. He’s still got to win the nomination like anybody else, it probably isn’t his time, but I’m pretty sure I know one thing. If he doesn’t win, he’ll exit gracefully all on his own and then fight for the nominee, and he’s earned the right to do so.

        If that makes any sense!

        • June 29, 2019 at 8:52 pm

Agree, Jacqueline. He & Dr Jill will give muster all the energy they have to not just defeat Trump but also the GOP – at every level of Federal & State & Local Government.

My biased hope is that he exits soon and goes to work for Senator Harris. My other biased hopes are:

1 that Julian Castro is her VP choice
2 that Elizabeth Warren is her Sec of Treasury
3 that VP Biden is her Sec of State
4 that Stacey Abrams is her Attorney General

          bbl …

          • 30 jacquelineoboomer
            June 29, 2019 at 10:23 pm

I jumped for joy with your #1 – because I’ve seen a Harris-Castro ticket in my head as my second choice, all along, if Joe didn’t run or make the cut!

Stacey Abrams can have any job she wants, IMO, and I like the AG choice.

Joe probably should not take on Secretary of State, because there’s a huge amount of travel involved and Jill wants to keep being a professor! – but he would make a great one, since leaders around the globe already know him.

Elizabeth Warren should be given a newly devised appointment … some type of overarching role to develop the agenda going forward … but my brain doesn’t go where her brain goes, so not sure what to call it.

            We got this.

Y’all know I’ve been saying for months Joe Biden should be the Secretary of State. Leaders (and citizens) around the world know and trust and respect him. Even if he did it for 2-3 years in order to get things settled down.

            June 29, 2019 at 11:37 pm

            I like your choices except I’d like Stacey Abrahams to run for the Senate (if possible) and be Senate Majority leader; I’d pick Sally Yates for AG. I’d like Biden/Harris or Harris/Castro too; I’d also like Warren as Sec of Treasury;

As I said I am still with Joe Biden. But if by some chance he is not the nominee I will support whoever the nominee is. We may disagree on some things, but one thing we do not disagree on, Donald J. Trump must NOT serve four more years.

Extraordinary times require extraordinary measures. America has only had two previous challenges comparable to what we face today – The Civil War and The Great Depression.

I’m trying to find a way to get a letter to VP Biden, as well. If any of you have suggestions, please let me know.

      Goodnight TOD

        June 30, 2019 at 10:00 am

You nailed it, Bob. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.

THIS is the kind of thinking and the kind of proposal I’ve been hoping to see, tell you the truth. I don’t have any of your capacity of thought at this point, if I ever did (my emotions are running over now), or I’d try to suggest something in particular to help you. But this concept deserves a “Tom-Steyer-like” preview and push. In the interim, maybe send your letter to Dr. Jill Biden and his friend Senator Chris Coons of MD (he’s a Truman Scholar)?

Send it quickly, if you can.

        • 52 jacquelineoboomer
          June 30, 2019 at 10:06 am

          (Ignore if of no interest.)

Wiki describes the board of of the HST Scholarship Foundation as (interesting board members, if this is still accurate, to perhaps give you further ideas):

The Truman Scholarship is administered by the Harry S Truman Scholarship Foundation, an independent federal executive branch agency. It is governed by a 13-member Board of Trustees headed by President Madeleine Albright, who says the foundation “serves as a gateway for America’s public service leaders” and “does a remarkable job of identifying future change agents.” The Foundation’s operations are overseen by full-time Executive Secretary Dr. Andrew Rich. Its endowment, which takes the form of a federal trust fund held in the U.S. Department of the Treasury, is $55 million. Current Board members include Senator Roy Blunt, Senator Claire McCaskill, former Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, Congressman Charlie Dent, and Congressman Ted Deutch.

        • June 30, 2019 at 1:56 pm

Really appreciate your input, Jacqueline, as always. Will do exactly as you suggest! Many, many thanks.

I’ve spent weeks reading and reading “The Road to Unfreedom” and “How Democracies Die” and related books.

We need an unprecedented level of creative, comprehensive leadership and citizen participation if we are to avert kleptocracy.

          • June 30, 2019 at 2:06 pm

            I’m starting with this:

            Will send letters, as well.

And, will continue by contacting the members of the HST Board.

            • June 30, 2019 at 2:59 pm

Letters have now been sent to Sec Albright, Tom Steyer and Senator Coons.

If anyone wants to copy the text, below and send you don’t have to worry about attributing it to me.

              FORWARD!

              Dear VP @JoeBiden,

If you’ve read #HowDemocraciesDie then you have the context for what I’m going to request.

If not, you only need to read Chapter 1. Finland & Belgium in the 1930’s & Austria in 2016 are lessons in exceptional disregard of ego & political ambitions.

Politicians & others demonstrated great courage to forge coalitions among opposing ideologies & party cultures in order to defeat fascist demagogues.

Today America is at great risk not merely because of the vicious criminal #Trump.

Trump is merely a metastatic nodule.

The collapse of the GOP as a legitimate, democracy-first party is the malignancy.

The GOP malignancy is readily detected by its symptoms: Racist Hate, Insatiable Greed, Misogyny, Intolerance & a passion for autocracy.

Your entire career has uniquely prepared you for a role of much greater, graver urgency than that of a candidate for POTUS.

Without doubt Sen @KamalaHarris , Sen @ewarren or Sec @JulianCastro can defeat Trump and build effective Cabinets and Legislative Agendas.

However, the vast challenge to the Nation’s health that you need to lead extends beyond defeating Trump, restoring dignity and Constitutional legitimacy to the White House.

You also need to lead the development of the most power political coalition in America’s history.

That Coalition’s purpose is to remove the GOP from control of the US Senate, reduce its presence in the US House, as well as, win every contested Governorship and Mayorship, win majorities in State Houses, and win as many local County and City Council positions as possible.

Since Nixon the GOP malignancy has destroyed quality of life for an ever increasing number of Americans.

America, ironically & tragically, is now almost as inequitable as Russia (the current record holder).

So, VP Biden please be the distinguished Statesman you are.

Please step forward to lead a counter offensive no less important than Union victories at Vicksburg & Gettysburg.

In doing so, you will have achieved a comprehensive victory for American & Global Democracy.

You will have illuminated for the citizens of Russia, China, Venezuela, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iran …. that the unalienable rights of every human are an unquestioned priority for vast majority of Americans.

That legacy Sir will far exceed any achieved by a US President.

              Thank you,

Well, it’s from the Pentagon, so you know he pays no attention to it

    https://www.politico.com/story/2019/06/30/pentagon-russia-influence-putin-trump-1535243

The U.S. is ill-equipped to counter the increasingly brazen political warfare Russia is waging to undermine democracies, the Pentagon and independent strategists warn in a detailed assessment that happens to echo much bipartisan criticism of President Donald Trump’s approach to Moscow.

The more than 150-page white paper, prepared for the Joint Chiefs of Staff and shared with POLITICO, says the U.S. is still underestimating the scope of Russia’s aggression, which includes the use of propaganda and disinformation to sway public opinion across Europe, Central Asia, Africa and Latin America. The study also points to the dangers of a growing alignment between Russia and China, which share a fear of the United States’ international alliances and an affinity for “authoritarian stability.”

Its authors contend that disarray at home is hampering U.S. efforts to respond — saying America lacks the kind of compelling “story” it used to win the Cold War.

And I was right! 🙂

Excellent question about TOD . Anyone know specifically? My memory is that Chipsticks was posting on Daily Kos as blackwater dog. If I recall correctly, there were people who had issues with her posts, many of which had lots of pictures of then Senator Obama. So, she started her blog The Only Adult in the Room. Don’t remember when she shut that down and it switched to TOD. Anyone who can correct or add to my memory, please do. 😍💙

      • June 30, 2019 at 9:46 pm

Yes, I think all that’s correct. I also remember her at DU posting as “Jackeens for Obama” or some such, which now shows up as “Not Found”.

Anyway, I’m wondering if the problems we’re have here are related to the site being registered to Chips and not being able to get in touch with her to renew. As Bobfr mentioned, I’d also be glad to contribute to the fee if that would help. In the meantime, MUCH LOVE and gratitude to Nerdy Wonka.

I remember being on an Obama campaign blog run by the campaign to start with. When Obama was given a hard time about his middle name many inserted his middle name into their screen name. I named myself Obama Grandmama previous to the middle name situation when people were using his last name. Being a grandma I liked the poetic ring of Grandmama with Obama.
The site changed after the election, but we were overrun by mean trolls. I remember switching to BWD and it was a haven for us after the trolling due to the excellent management. Then there was a switch to TOD. We seemed to be first to report news in Obama’s terms in office. When his time was over we were afraid our close daily time spent together might end. I am so relieved it did not. I am grateful for all of you. This time of Trump is very scary and hard to understand. Thank you all for helping me remember the good times of Obama’s leadership and I pray we will get back to good times again.
