Yup, a Hot Mess sounds just about right, Don.
I was a tad surprised that the wheelchair was not present. The last couple times…. as Paul Manafort appeared in the courts, the Court Drawing had him always in a wheelchair.

JHC, I find this incredibly disturbing. Durbin and Feinstein did the same thing yesterday. While I’m quite sure she’s very busy, she could have thought through a better response than “I’m not paying attention, it’s somebody else’s problem.”

I know the Supreme Court decision regarding gerrymandering is stunning, but, there are things on our local levels that we MUST do:

“The Supreme Court tried to screw over democracy Thursday morning by giving the green light to partisan gerrymandering, but the fight is most emphatically not over. Here are five things progressives can and must do to combat gerrymandering:”

I was disappointed with Kamala about her attack on Joe concerning bussing. I had envisioned a Biden/Harris ticket. She is shattering my dream team. I still like her though.

      • 44 jacquelineoboomer
        June 27, 2019 at 11:43 pm

I’ve had 3 top contenders in mind since the beginning: Biden, Harris, Castro. Alternate donating to all 3. I’ve “broken up” with Kamala tonight but may be able to get back with her at some point – not sure – because Biden/Harris was my dream team, too. And I know one thing about politics: just suppose Biden wins the nomination; he might very well choose Harris as his VP running mate.

OTOH, I marvel at Kamala’s thinking that bringing up many-decades-old votes of Biden’s is a smart thing … she has forgotten that we still remember he won the trust of President Obama and served as his Vice President for 8 years They were self-identified “brothers,” closer than friends, and their families were and are close. From Kamala’s perspective, does that make President Obama a poor judge of character? I think not. I think she made a big mistake tonight.

      • 45 Betsy
        June 28, 2019 at 12:22 am

My understanding is it was his comments on how he was able to work with segregationalists and mentioned 2 who were pushing segregation that hurt her and made her confront him about that and own that what he said was hurtful. She clearly has a childhood memory of being bussed and I did not feel she was being disrespectful but speaking from a place of pain. It may end up helping Biden watch his words because I was not happy about what he said at that time. That’s how I saw it.

You all know how much I adore Obama, but I think Joe Biden is making a mistake to talk in these terms of “bipartisanship” “I can work with anyone”, when you have Mitch McConnell in Senate. I did think Biden’s push back against Chuck Todd’s assumption that Obama did nothing on Climate change.

        • 46 Hillary Darton
          June 28, 2019 at 12:54 pm

How the hell is him talking about working with two segregation Senators hurt her. Hey the two Senators he was talking about were Democrats, meaning there was a time when most of the party she is in now were racist bigots. It was an opportunity for her to attack the guy who is ahead, he’s ahead with black people and this is her change to try and change that.

I did “enjoy” this debate. Bernie couldn’t go lower in my estimate but he did. Really, really can’t stand that self centered egotistical man. Kamala really stood out. Gillibrand went further down to me. Still like Julian too. Joe is still in the running. Still have lots of time to go after Trump. Those who are on the low I end need to quit.

I am NOT a Gillibrand fan, but wondering what about her performance made her go down for you. Seems like she was inserting herself and getting her talking points in when others were not. Chuck let her talk out of turn. I did not like Kamala going after Biden. I am a Kamala fan too.

This is going to be a very interesting race on the part of the Democrats. I think as time goes by Joe Biden will show why President Obama chose him as his VP, also I think the Kamala Harris will prove that she can become President and I also think that Elizabeth Warren has a good shot. I want my candidate to inspire me, I don’t want to feel like I’m just voting for the last person standing. Interesting times ahead.

    Snuggle bunnies at the G20:
“”When asked whether he’d tell Russia not to meddle in the 2020 election,
Trump smugly responded, “Of course I will.”
He then turned to Putin and said jokingly, “Don’t meddle in the election, please. Don’t meddle in the election.”
He wagged his finger in a scolding manner. Putin responded by grinning.

    • June 28, 2019 at 10:25 am

“10 to 20 journalists are murdered in Russia each year.”
“Putin and Trump also bonded over their mutual hatred of the media on Friday.
“Get rid of them,” Trump said, referring to the press. “Fake news is a great term, isn’t it? You don’t have this problem in Russia, but we do.”
“We also have,” Putin replied. “It’s the same.”
      The two men laughed.”

n.b. MPR reporting just now the majority of MT voters polled think Fox News is the most trustworthy network. Those who responded that way were Republicans.

    • June 28, 2019 at 10:26 am

Sound familiar? After announcing that “liberalism’ is obsolete” Putin said:

Yes it is; a very complex reading on the issue of race. I found it very interesting and informative and thought-provoking.

    • 95 Don
      June 28, 2019 at 11:05 am

You either adapt or you get run over, I like Joe I really do. But he is fighting a battle that he shouldn’t have to fight in terms of trying to explain himself when it comes to issues of race, maybe he might have to go to Philadelphia and give a speech on race like Barack did. Kamala Harris is going to keep coming, maybe not specifically at Joe, but she’s going to keep attacking the issues that Democrats care about. I can vote for Joe just as easily as I can vote for Kamala or Warren or whomever. One thing I’ve noticed about both Harris and Warren is that they will fight anytime and anyplace.

      • June 28, 2019 at 12:03 pm

Kamala showed how she can and will prosecute Trump! Though am not a fan of the plan she executed.
VP Biden’s remarkable career in the Senate started early in life and we all (hopefully) update how we respond and change along the way, so yes he could’ve conceded to that last night. Kamala’s attack may have surprised and disappointed him. Joe has earned a leisurely back seat, so when he rises to lead the fight against proto-fascist Trump, he has my utter esteem. My guess is VP Biden is all praise, and reassured to know that Kamala is such a fearless kickarse woman.

I’ve listen to all the hoopla over Harris last night, few weeks ago it was all about Mayor Pete, next week who will it be? As I said I’m still with old Joe .

    • 101 Hillary Darton
      June 28, 2019 at 11:01 am

Joe Biden is not a racist and anyone trying to imply that, don’t have my vote. I was pissed with Booker last week for doing so.

      • 102 Don
        June 28, 2019 at 11:15 am

I understood what Booker was trying to say, I also don’t believe that Joe is a racist. Joe has been around the block to many times to let himself get caught up in a issue about race, but sometimes with Joe he speaks with his heart instead of his head. And being a good politician, which he is, you have to always measure what comes out of your mouth.

    • June 28, 2019 at 11:06 am

The hoopla is more on MSM. Voters are more “wait & listen”. At least in my neck of woods. Two hours per debate over 2 days & 20 contenders showed the complexity of America. I’m glad to see this, especially since there’s still over half year to primaries. Not a sprint, but a marathon all the way to Nov 2020. May the very best Dem win then. ❤

      • 105 Hillary Darton
        June 28, 2019 at 12:41 pm

I know how the media is, Harris is their darling of the hour right now. Like she was when she first announced. Don’t anyone get me wrong if she is the Democratic nominee you bet I will support her. We can not take four more years of that lying racist moron in the White House now, I just do not like to see our own tearing each other down. We need someone who can put together 270 electoral college votes across this country. So now the Dems thing is not black verses white, it’s old verses young.

        • June 28, 2019 at 1:08 pm

None of them should take anything for granted. I just don’t want them to damage each other in the process so that we end up w/ 45moron again. So far so good.

I too felt disappointed in Eric Swalwell, and Kamala Harris last night in attacking Joe Biden. I want each to say what they stand for and not damage each other for the General Election run. My dream team WAS Biden/Harris which may now not work. My main goal is beat Trump.
