This is an ominous sign. If neither the blue states nor the House has standing, it would mean that no one has standing to appeal the decision. That would effectively leave the lower court decision unappealable.
Although I am glad that Robert Mueller will be testifying to Congress I still don’t trust him. He may be all the accolades that the press likes to bestow on him but I believe he’s a Republican good ole boy who is a wolf in sheep’s clothing for the Democrats.
I pray I am wrong but when he chose not to prosecute Don Jr and then let Barr write that report where he said there was no obstruction and did nothing to rebut it for weeks I felt then and there that he was part of the cult. I don’t believe he will lie for Trump and Barr when he testifies but he will skirt the truth. He and Barr are good friends and he’s not going to turn on his friend. He’s had so many opportunities to take Barr down and he hasn’t. There is a reason for that and it’s because he can’t be completely trusted to go against this President.
It’s taken me a while but I’m beginning to feel the same way. I believed that Barr ended the investigation as soon as he took office and very likely told Mueller he would not prosecute Trump or anyone in Trump’s family. He then went on to quash many of Mueller’s referrals. Even so, and despite him being a so-called paragon of the rule of law, I now do not think Mueller would ever reveal any of that for the very reasons you mention. It’s beyond disheartening. We have lost our country.
A good part of me knew that our country was lost on the night that thug was (s)elected. I’ve never been depressed over a Republican winning the WH but trump changed that and that night stayed with me for months. This investigation IMO was going to shed light on the corruption. Trump hired the person he wanted to cover his tail in the justice department and Barr has done his bidding and Mueller and Rosenstein went along with the charade.
And now Congress is afraid to pull the trigger for fear of blowback from the public and Trump being put back in there in 2020 and them losing the House. Meanwhile, he and his corrupt cabinet and advisors break the rules and destroy the norms daily knowing there will be no consequences for their actions.
Perfectly stated, Donna. I’ll never forget that night and the days that followed. And all the days after that, each week more challenging than the last. It’s been exceedingly tough be positive or optimistic under these circumstance. All I see is failure.
I have similar concerns Donnadem. I’m not really sure about him. I fear there are no “good” Republicans left, or if there even were any at all? How could they let our democracy be destroyed like this and be ok with Mitch McConnell’s tactics of power if they were ever in support of democracy. Why are fairness, justice for all, such threats to people who are rich?

I want you to see their faces while they were alive.
All of their hopes and dreams of a future are gone.
Stupid questions, candidates only allowed to respond in a minute or two. So they’re all desperate to put out some kind of zinger to make a lasting impression. Hope I’m wrong, but I don’t find these debates serve anyone but the press, who are thirsty for soundbites.
I’m hoping the candidates will avoid the personal attacks and creating zingers/soundbites that add no value and does not make them any more relevant. I prefer that they stick to the issues {there are enough legitimate ones to address) and not allow the MSM to draw them into creating drama.
The crazy thing is “A noun, a verb and 9/11” will go down in history as one of the greatest debate zingers of all time and it didn’t do a thing to propel Biden to the Presidency in 2008. The public is not that superficial but the media (especially cable media) is.
I asked President Trump whether he will ask Putin not to meddle in the 2020 election during their meeting. He said what he speaks to Putin about this week is “none of your business.”

The Iran anti-nuclear accord was not "terrible," not the "worst deal ever," not flawed. It stopped a war, stopped an Iranian bomb. Its major failing was that there are no photos of the massive dismantlement of Iran's former nuclear program. American don't realize what we got. 1/

Or will those of us who cherish every life, honor every aspiration, & constantly pursue the truth be willing to risk our lives to halt the very few who benefit vastly from peddling hate & fear?
If the answer is yes, then be assured the 1st task is by far the most challenging.
The 1st task is to reach out to those, largely poor, struggling, elderly, afraid, gun-totting (in many cases) white folk and help them understand they're suffering not because of a brown child & her dad seeking asylum but because they are enslaved to a myth & by the very rich.
Did anyone else catch that add on MSNBC the women talking about what pro life politicians want. It was an awlful commercial full of lies. I really hate these people.

I would repeal Section 1325 of the Immigration and Nationality Act — the only way to ensure that another administration like Trump's could not separate little children from their mothers. They use that law to justify their cruel policy of family separation. It must end. pic.twitter.com/bl9NcdjWsK
2/ Their suffering is beyond anything I can comprehend, and each individual is suffering in a way that is unique. I don't know how long their suffering will continue or how much worse it will get. I only know that we have a moral duty to fight this evil.
I watched the debate and agree any of the ten would be better than Trump. I thought Castro looked strong along with Warren. I actually like Amy Klobucher too. Booker was strong.
I could not watch the debate tonight. What is the consensus (if any) of any stand out candidates? Nerdy seems to like Castro’s performance. Yes any of them would be better than Cheeto in Chief.
Great graphics. US Democrats have gone from being a center-right to a center-left party; the GOP from a right-wing party to an extreme right-wing party, closer to Germany's neo-Nazis than to the global center. https://t.co/srI5taGFCS
Booker & Castro both impressed a lot of folks I’ve spoken to, but impressed them in a “I’d like to see Elizabeth Warren consider him for VP” kind of way.
Watching video of the debate- Castro surprised me. He came off strong, authentic, and informed. He jumped into my top 5. It was sad for me to see Beto… he looked a bit frightened..and to see the sweat gathering on his face. I like Beto, but he was out gunned by Castro and DeBlasio. Warren was strong, as always. She is so studied and knows her stuff. Her sense of self is intact.
Booker, it must just be me…I don’t care for him. I believe his ego drives so much of what he does. Perhaps its his prior statements about Obama that have turned me off, so I dismiss him. He is a mile wide and an inch deep.
I agree with your synopsis. I have always liked Castro but wasn’t sure about his strength. Last night he showed it. Booker I am just not sure. Warren I like. The rest should just drop out. It’ll be interesting tonight to see who shows up.
The MSNBC pundits seemed disappointed and critical that the candidates did not bring up 45 any more than they had. (It also seemed that they had expected attacks on Joe Biden.)
I, for one, am happy that they focused on the issues that are important to us. To me, it was an opportunity for those with less name recognition to basically introduce themselves and tell us what they were about. We were given a glimpse at how well the candidates knew the issues and how thoughtful they have been about solutions. We were able to see the substance behind the candidates without the “shiny tarnish” of drama.

BREAKING: Supreme Court's conservative rule 5–4 that the federal judiciary cannot rein in partisan gerrymanders. This is the nightmare scenario for voting rights advocates. https://t.co/uFY4W07b6d
Voting rights advocates spent years laying the groundwork for SCOTUS to put constitutional limits on partisan gerrymanders. But they were relying on Justice Kennedy's vote. Now he's gone, replaced by Kavanaugh, and the conservative bloc shut them out of federal court forever.
2.5 of the 3 pillars of democracy have fallen. The safety guards put in place by our founding fathers have been run over. I never thought Americans (Republicans) would join to destroy our country.
I watched some of the debate last night. Was impressed again by Julian Castro. I agree with the consensus that Castro and Warren were strongest. Didn’t see Booker, but saw Beto, and????? does he actually know anything? He was weak! Everyone I heard said that “We Democrats agree……” on basic principles. They were not attacking each other., which is what cheesy chuck was salivating for. Of course Cheesy Chuck talked the most. He thinks it’s all about him.
I didn’t watch any of the debate last night and it seems as though I’m better off for it, oh and as marleysperson said “Democracy died” in the Supreme Court.
Whoever gets to be the Democratic nominee, needs to increase the size of the SC. Full stop. We need to make so many things right again. In a hurry.
Extreme gerrymandering may be "unjust," Chief Justice Roberts writes for the 5-4 majority, but the solutions will have to come from legislators or voters, not the courts, he says. @DavidGSavage explains. https://t.co/qxcr1RQVns
Think about it. The SC just said that politicians are free to pick there district boundaries to make them more favorable to them… not the people picking their representatives.
This boggles my mind. It is exactly OPPOSITE of democratic principles! The conservatives on that court have screwed up that court so badly…screwed up the very foundations of democratic principles, that we will need a major infusion of liberal and just plain judges with common sense and no damn agenda, to make it right again.
Kagan's dissent on partisan gerrymandering ends: "Of all times to abandon the Court’s duty to declare the law, this was not the one. The practices challenged in these cases imperil our system of government … With respect but deep sadness, I dissent." https://t.co/NACtz6odhE
The upshot of the census decision is that Roberts votes with the left to remand to the Commerce Department to provide a non-pretextual explanation for the question. For now, the question is out. It is unclear if there is enough time left to add it back in.
“Republicans AWOL and Democrats surrendering: the latest on Oregon’s climate chaos.”
“A vote was set to occur last week on the (climate) bill. Instead, Oregon Republicans fled the state to avoid passing it, and on Tuesday, Democrats in a shock announcement said that they did not have the votes to pass the bill either way.” Local militias promised the fleeing GOP-ers protection and after they threatened the Oregon Statehouse it shut down. Fleeing GOP Boquist said “Send bachelors and come heavily armed”.
And so it was.
It is Here: Gun toting militias shutting down legislatures and controlling the vote.
SCOTUS ruling on citizenship question is not so much a victory for fairness as it is an inability to get around the most obvious and egregious lies coming out of Wilbur Ross, who pwnd himself real good.
4 justices said, essentially, that the administration can do whatever it wants on the citizenship question. 4 said no. Roberts, with the deciding vote, said "not this way." @DavidGSavage with the story. https://t.co/9CcA1Kmgu5

Exactly. Exactly this. "Two, to counter the effects of the stolen seat." should be, again, seen as being the reasonable compromise position we can fall back to. That's where we meet in the middle.https://t.co/m7ShO82x5W

Great @ThePlumLineGS piece. This plan might not have everything I want, in it, but it overall plants a bold flag – Dems are for the US welcoming in more refugees, and being a humane country, while addressing the causes of migration.https://t.co/Hg8xmdH93X
After today’s anti-democracy, white supremacist, gerrymandering ruling, Dems need to get serious about taking back the Senate and packing the Supreme Court.
We don’t need 20+ people running for the presidency.
In state after state, GOP getting minority of votes but huge majority of seats. This is fundamentally undemocratic. Extreme partisan gerrymandering is election rigging & SCOTUS just gave it a huge green light https://t.co/hJRU8hvv7vpic.twitter.com/iqU6cEmjaf
Just as in 2018…#WeThePeople had to win an OVERWHELMINGGGGGGG amount of seats to take the HOUSE…..so too we must have this strategy in the states…Register NEW voters…bring out DEM voters and carry any other voter who wants to come along for the ride….
Well, it looks like the citizenship question will be kicked back down for consideration as a violation of the Administrative Procedures Act, which given the new evidence about intentional partisan and racial discrimination may doom it

Thank goodness!
Could be just me, but I think it’s a BFD that Mueller will publicly testify. I really, really do. Even he he only states what they found, and nothing else.
The two women Ms. Carroll confided in about the rape have stepped up.
The New York Times said they were at first “overly cautious” in their coverage, but now have a 29 minute podcast of the two women corroborating Ms. Carroll’s account:
Mitt Romney described Ms Carroll’s rape allegation as “very serious” and hoped it would be “fully evaluated”. “In similar remarks, Ernst told CNN that both Trump and Carroll should face questions about the alleged rape.” (Salon)
The serial sexual assaulter in the White House must be held to account.
And some of us of the whiter hue will be right there with you. This makes me so mad. It’s so hard to get through the day any more without my heart breaking.
We need them to be legal and safe.

EXACTLY THIS!
But my answer would be more than 2….but the question is spot on
Without time spent researching the adding SCOTUS seats idea recalling my questionable memory I think FDR got in trouble trying to increase the number of justices during his time in office.
Thread. Because I need to hear better news:)
Exactly. but they’ll keep saying it to scare the racist sheeple. PS. I like you Julian Castro!
“The fate of coal has been sealed, the market has spoken…
The trend is irreversible now, the decline of coal is unstoppable despite Donald Trump’s rhetoric.”
In April: “Clean energy such as solar and wind provided 23% of US electricity generation during the month, compared with coal’s 20%,”
-The United States generated more electricity from renewables than coal for the first time.
“
Prevalence of Black Lung Continues to Increase among U.S. Coal Miners.”
“Coal miners in central Appalachia are disproportionately affected with as many as 1 in 5 having evidence of black lung–the highest level recorded in 25 years.”
We want to live. Leave the coal in the ground.

“A 2018 study by the Pentagon found that climate change is threatening almost half of all U.S. military sites globally, something military experts have repeatedly underscored as a national security threat.”

Let’s stay focused. 40 years of cover up!
Tillerson is besties with Putin and did the Rosneft/Exxon deal with him during the Sochi Games. Putin wanted him as Secretary of State and got him. As head of Exxon, Tillerson knowingly covered up Exxon’s scientific findings since 1975 about fossil fuels and the tragic outcome of global warming. Exxon scientists made a precise prediction of the devastating outcome, but continued to disinform the globe.
