    Just my opinion but…

Although I am glad that Robert Mueller will be testifying to Congress I still don’t trust him. He may be all the accolades that the press likes to bestow on him but I believe he’s a Republican good ole boy who is a wolf in sheep’s clothing for the Democrats.

I pray I am wrong but when he chose not to prosecute Don Jr and then let Barr write that report where he said there was no obstruction and did nothing to rebut it for weeks I felt then and there that he was part of the cult. I don’t believe he will lie for Trump and Barr when he testifies but he will skirt the truth. He and Barr are good friends and he’s not going to turn on his friend. He’s had so many opportunities to take Barr down and he hasn’t. There is a reason for that and it’s because he can’t be completely trusted to go against this President.

    • June 26, 2019 at 4:17 pm

It’s taken me a while but I’m beginning to feel the same way. I believed that Barr ended the investigation as soon as he took office and very likely told Mueller he would not prosecute Trump or anyone in Trump’s family. He then went on to quash many of Mueller’s referrals. Even so, and despite him being a so-called paragon of the rule of law, I now do not think Mueller would ever reveal any of that for the very reasons you mention. It’s beyond disheartening. We have lost our country.

A good part of me knew that our country was lost on the night that thug was (s)elected. I’ve never been depressed over a Republican winning the WH but trump changed that and that night stayed with me for months. This investigation IMO was going to shed light on the corruption. Trump hired the person he wanted to cover his tail in the justice department and Barr has done his bidding and Mueller and Rosenstein went along with the charade.

And now Congress is afraid to pull the trigger for fear of blowback from the public and Trump being put back in there in 2020 and them losing the House. Meanwhile, he and his corrupt cabinet and advisors break the rules and destroy the norms daily knowing there will be no consequences for their actions.

It’s just all one big MESS!

        • June 26, 2019 at 5:19 pm

Perfectly stated, Donna. I’ll never forget that night and the days that followed. And all the days after that, each week more challenging than the last. It’s been exceedingly tough be positive or optimistic under these circumstance. All I see is failure.

I have similar concerns Donnadem. I’m not really sure about him. I fear there are no “good” Republicans left, or if there even were any at all? How could they let our democracy be destroyed like this and be ok with Mitch McConnell’s tactics of power if they were ever in support of democracy. Why are fairness, justice for all, such threats to people who are rich?

      • June 26, 2019 at 4:43 pm

Stupid questions, candidates only allowed to respond in a minute or two. So they’re all desperate to put out some kind of zinger to make a lasting impression. Hope I’m wrong, but I don’t find these debates serve anyone but the press, who are thirsty for soundbites.

Or for someone to make a mistake. It’s nuts

        • June 26, 2019 at 5:11 pm

I’m hoping the candidates will avoid the personal attacks and creating zingers/soundbites that add no value and does not make them any more relevant. I prefer that they stick to the issues {there are enough legitimate ones to address) and not allow the MSM to draw them into creating drama.

The crazy thing is “A noun, a verb and 9/11” will go down in history as one of the greatest debate zingers of all time and it didn’t do a thing to propel Biden to the Presidency in 2008. The public is not that superficial but the media (especially cable media) is.

Watching video of the debate- Castro surprised me. He came off strong, authentic, and informed. He jumped into my top 5. It was sad for me to see Beto… he looked a bit frightened..and to see the sweat gathering on his face. I like Beto, but he was out gunned by Castro and DeBlasio. Warren was strong, as always. She is so studied and knows her stuff. Her sense of self is intact.
Booker, it must just be me…I don’t care for him. I believe his ego drives so much of what he does. Perhaps its his prior statements about Obama that have turned me off, so I dismiss him. He is a mile wide and an inch deep.

          June 27, 2019 at 3:28 pm

I agree with your synopsis. I have always liked Castro but wasn’t sure about his strength. Last night he showed it. Booker I am just not sure. Warren I like. The rest should just drop out. It’ll be interesting tonight to see who shows up.

  36. June 27, 2019 at 7:30 am

The MSNBC pundits seemed disappointed and critical that the candidates did not bring up 45 any more than they had. (It also seemed that they had expected attacks on Joe Biden.)

I, for one, am happy that they focused on the issues that are important to us. To me, it was an opportunity for those with less name recognition to basically introduce themselves and tell us what they were about. We were given a glimpse at how well the candidates knew the issues and how thoughtful they have been about solutions. We were able to see the substance behind the candidates without the “shiny tarnish” of drama.

There will be plenty of opportunities to go after 45…he opens the door every day.

Didn’t see Booker, but saw Beto, and????? does he actually know anything? He was weak! Everyone I heard said that “We Democrats agree……” on basic principles. Think about it. The SC just said that politicians are free to pick there district boundaries to make them more favorable to them… not the people picking their representatives.
This boggles my mind. It is exactly OPPOSITE of democratic principles! The conservatives on that court have screwed up that court so badly…screwed up the very foundations of democratic principles, that we will need a major infusion of liberal and just plain judges with common sense and no damn agenda, to make it right again.

“A vote was set to occur last week on the (climate) bill. Instead, Oregon Republicans fled the state to avoid passing it, and on Tuesday, Democrats in a shock announcement said that they did not have the votes to pass the bill either way.” Local militias promised the fleeing GOP-ers protection and after they threatened the Oregon Statehouse it shut down. Tillerson is besties with Putin and did the Rosneft/Exxon deal with him during the Sochi Games. Putin wanted him as Secretary of State and got him. As head of Exxon, Tillerson knowingly covered up Exxon’s scientific findings since 1975 about fossil fuels and the tragic outcome of global warming. Exxon scientists made a precise prediction of the devastating outcome, but continued to disinform the globe.
