Some additional candor and wisdom that I hope all of you will find of value.

His “Road to Unfreedom” is the context all Americans need to understand how close we are to being subsumed by an oligarchy. In fact, as of today the US is very, very close to being as inequitable a State as Russia.

I would not put it past DT thinking starting a war could boost his poll numbers and guarantees his re-election. Also, it could just be to change the topic off the Mueller report or to prove how tough he is. Putting in a war monger Bolton in charge is a sure way to go to war.

    • May 15, 2019 at 10:31 am

      1) From Scandinavia to Scotland women use an abortion pill.
      2) Most women terminate their pregnancy early.
Sweden: “In 2017, 93 percent of abortions were medical and only seven a surgical procedure.”
Introduced in the 1990s this is “a non-surgical procedure for which the woman takes what’s often referred to as “the abortion pill” to bring about the abortion…more and more abortions are also completed at home rather than hospital. The woman then has the option of taking the first dose of the medication in hospital and the second dose at home, rather than returning to hospital for the second dose.
In 2017, 75 percent of all early abortions were carried out at home, compared to 62 percent in 2014.”
-The abortion pill is a combination of mifepristone and misoprostol.
      -Is it Alabama/America’s best-kept secret?

    Systematic Plan….

    attack Immigrants rights…
    attack civil rights
    attack Women’s rights
    attack LGBTQ rights…

there was a post that talked about how many of the policies put forth by the extreme right…are not polices favored by the majority of Americans…this is the reason why they must restrict access to the ballot…because the majority of Americans are not on board with the extreme right…If only we could get the majority to become engaged and to vote…because the despite the tremendous engagement of citizens in 2018…there still are many citizens that are not engaged and did not vote…..

this has to be our mission…to expand the electorate even further…to stop the march of the extreme RW to end democracy ..

    • May 15, 2019 at 11:07 am

Yes for the Trumputins democracy is in the way.
And the far right thinks oligarchy is cool.

= I guess they’ll go with an Autocrat.

Fact: Trump has seen the evidence that Iran is still in compliance with the nuclear deal.
“The 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran, the US, European powers, and China put tight restrictions on Tehran’s nuclear efforts in exchange for sanctions relief. The Obama administration’s goal was to block Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon diplomatically, instead of by force. But President Donald Trump withdrew America from the deal on May 8, 2018, reimposed financial penalties on Iran, and asked European countries to cease their business with the country.
“There’s no evidence to show Iran has ever produced materials for a nuke, but it’s possible it may want to have that option available due to the Trump administration’s hardline stance.”

It was Mother’s Day last weekend.
Yesterday Representatives Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), John Katko (R-NY), Lucy McBath (D-GA), Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA), and Bobby Scott (D-VA) reintroduced the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, legislation that would protect pregnant workers from workplace discrimination.
“The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act would address legal ambiguities and help ensure that pregnant women are treated fairly on the job. The legislation, which is closely modeled after the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), would require employers to make reasonable accommodations—such as a minor job modification—that would allow pregnant workers to continue working and prevent them from being forced out on leave or out of their jobs. The bill also prohibits employers from denying employment opportunities to women based on their need for reasonable accommodations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions.”

  34. May 15, 2019 at 12:03 pm

    Snippets from 3 hours ago:
Jerry Nadler: He’s making it increasingly difficult. Our major goal has to be to vindicate the rule of law. No questions are being answered about any subject. And then, when subpoenas are being issued, there’s a blanket command, disobey all subpoenas. Nobody should testify, and nobody should give documents to Congress. Well, that’s a way of neutering Congress, of making sure that Congress can’t do its job, of turning the country into a dictatorship of a monarchical president. You can’t function if you don’t have information.
John Harwood: That’s why you call it a constitutional crisis?
    Jerry Nadler: Yes.
    (More: https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/15/jerry-nadler-probably-not-headed-for-impeachment-but-trump-makes-it-difficult-to-avoid.html)

    • May 15, 2019 at 12:04 pm

John Harwood: Do you believe, in fact, that the president is compromised by Russia?
Jerry Nadler: Trump was saying throughout the campaign, “I have no dealings in Russia. I have no dealings of whatever kind.”
We now know that in fact, they were negotiating for Trump Tower Moscow right to the end of the campaign.
They were lying and lying about it.

    • May 15, 2019 at 12:05 pm

Jerry Nadler: The president can be impeached only if two things, only for misuse of presidential power while president or for cheating in the election that gave him the presidency. Other than that, if he did something terrible before he was president, he robbed the bank, that’s not impeachable. It’s a crime, but it’s not impeachable.
John Harwood: Do you believe he’s committed crimes while in office?
Jerry Nadler: Yes I do. Mueller lays out very strong evidence of a number of obstructions of justice. Those are crimes. Yes, of course he did.

It is hard to Imagine but since Mueller played by the book and did not indict…or say that the President had committed crimes or engaged in unethical behavior…he has opened a wide wash of unethical if not criminal behavior…It has led to Trump say that the President cannot be investigated…it has led to alot of unethical behavior…like Lindsey Graham…telling Trump Jr to defy the House…this trickle down of unethical…criminal…or u ndemocratic behavior…has left alot of folks flummoxed…

A significant question that Rachel Maddow asked last evening…is what happened to the copunter intelligence investigation that was opened on TRUMP.. and the Trump Campaign…it seems to all have vanished……

It is because in some respects the Democratic Party has a tendency to take the Black vote for granted. By and large Black people will vote Democrat because as a people we believe in voting for our own best interest, and this little thing called common sense. I’ve listened to the candidates, the ones that have talked about tending to our own garden first are the ones that will get my attention. But if the first thing out of a candidates mouth is how can I better “understand” my friend across the isle, I must look at the candidate side-eye. It isn’t that I’m not taking that candidate serious, Its that I’m sorta kinda into self-preservation.

I was advised by my doctor and wife to stay off the internet and take it easy, but how many episodes of Law & Order can a person watch. Anyway I’m doing better and hopefully my doctor will release me soon so I can go back to work, I hate sitting at home and telling the neighborhood kids to get off my lawn.

Luckily, I’ve been a federal employee going on twenty years and the insurance I have is very good. Yes, I’m going to be able to pay whatever it is I have to pay out of pocket. But my GOD, thank GOD for OBAMACARE. I had to be rushed to the hospital from home, when the paramedics were checking my vitals my wife was handing over our insurance card. Can you imagine laying on the floor of your living room because it feels like you’ve been shot in the stomach and some guy is asking your wife if you’ve got insurance? As soon as we got to the emergency room again my wife had to hand over our insurance card. It is no joke out there if you don’t have insurance, I pray that OBAMACARE endures.

So glad that it all turned out well…

there is this philosophy…that folks are poor because of their own fault…that not only should the government not help them,…but they do not deserve the government help..

these people should never be in charge of policy….

Sheila I grew up on every type of government-assistance known to man, so I will always have a soft spot for the less fortunate. I don’t begrudge anyone that can go out there and make themselves a billion dollars, god bless them. But you are so right, public policy should not be left in the hands of those that can acknowledge the humanity in those that are less fortunate.
