Thank you Nerdy for posting the above Actors Roundtable. There is also a series I think is on Turner Movie Channel or PBS where Actors interview each other! They ask each other the most amazing questions and you learn so much. I don’t bother to watch shows like Hollywood Access, Sunday Morning, 60 Minutes, Late Night, etc., because the so called professional interviewers ask the most stupid and ridiculous questions because the interview is about them and not the actor or the movies they are in.

Saw this round table discussion Friday and I came away with a new respect for acting as a craft. Was edpecially impressed with Timothee who is so eloquent and thoughtful for such a young person. All of the men were very open and did not hold anything back, especially in regard to racism. Was also so surprised that Vigo knows about and is such a fan of Zora Neale Hurston.

    Kamala, notes:
We are at an inflection point in history of our world. Who are we as Americans? America we are better than this!
When we have children in jails crying for their mothers…that is not border security – it’s a human rights abuse…and when Americans are barely living….people in power are trying to convince us that the villain in our American story is each other…..but that is not our story…not our America..
It’s about we the people and in this moment we must all speak truth about what is happening, speak truth, speak truth and fight for the truth. so let’s speak some truth…our economy today is not working for working people….paychecks not going up…our people our drowning in debt….when we lift up women we lift up the children…the families…and the whole of society benefits. big Pharma corporations have unleashed a opioid crisis…drug addiction is a national public health emergency…we don’t need another war on drugs…climate change is real and it is happening how…an uncomfortable truth, racism, sexism, anti semitism, homophobia and transphobia is real…and they are age-old forms of hate…too many unarmed black men and women are killed in America…too many locked up, our criminal justice system needs drastic repair…under this administration America’s position in the world has never been weaker…weakened Democratic values…under attack around the world.
Foreign powers are infecting the White House like MALWARE.

  13. January 27, 2019 at 5:34 pm

KH: Lets speak that truth…biggest truth of all in the face of powerful forces trying to sell hate and division among us…we have so much more in common that what separates us….never forget that on the fundamental issues we have so much more in common..
We are already standing on common ground.
I say we rise together or we fall together as one nation indivisible…not talking about the state of unity for the sake of unity…or some facade of unity…I believe that the word ‘unity’ has often been used to shut people up or preserve the status quo. Douglass said it best…”to love the religion of Jesus is to hate the religion of the slave master.”
So I stand before you today clear-eyed about the fight ahead and what has to be done…and with the fighting spirit I got from m y mother, to announce my candidacy for the President of the United States.

  14. January 27, 2019 at 5:44 pm

Notes on KH today: I am running for president because I love my country, I love my country…for the people by the people and for all people.
…where you only have to work one job to pay the bill, where hard work is rewarded and any worker can join a union, declare once and for all the health care is a fundamental right and we will deliver that right with medicare for all. Education is a fundamental right…debt free college…tax cut.. deliver up to $500 to make ends meet, pay for it by reversing this administration’s give-away…protect against all enemies foreign and domestic…defend this nation against all threats to cybersecurity…secure our elections and critical infrastructure to protect OUR democracy…and we will honor our servicemen not have to wait in line to get what they are owed…where no Mother or Father have teach their young son…(he can be chased and killed) because of his race….every parent can send their children to school (without the) horror of another killing spree…Attacks on voting rights, women rights, and immigrant rights…welcome immigrants, bring them out of shadows and provide pathway to citizenship…our daughters, Mothers, Grandmothers respected where they live and work, reproductive rights guaranteed in every state.

  15. January 27, 2019 at 5:50 pm

KH: America is where we keep our work and honor our promises..that’s the America I believe in, I know we believe in. I am not perfect but I will always speak with decency and moral clarity and treat all people with dignity and respect. I will lead with integrity and I will speak the truth…Not going to be easy. we know what the doubters will say: Not your time..wait your turn, the odds are long…can’t be done.
But America’s story has always been written by people who can see what can be unburdened by what has been. That is our story.
Only those who dare to fail greaty can ever achieve greatly.
Quote from President Kennedy: “I do not lightly dismiss the dangers and the difficulties of challenging an incumbent President. But these are not ordinary times and this is not an ordinary election.”
Today I say to you my friends these are not ordinary times and these are not ordinary elections but this is our time. it’s up to us, each and every one of us…the power of the people…achieve dreams of parents and grandparents…restore America’s leadership on this planet. so let’s do this!! And let’s do it togethers and let’s start now.

It was a great speech. I don’t see how Trump is competitive against her or any of the other Democratic candidates in a general election.

Great start; hope she keeps the moving forward telling us what she stands for and how she will help to get it done. I think she is too smart to get derailed by the crap that is already being flung her way. One advantage to being Black or brown is that most of us are used to dealing with the naysayers and the haters. she will not be blind-sided by the virulent racism and sexism that colors everything POC women do.

I’m not in for comparisons in numbers of onlookers, but I will say that our new candidate reminds me of President Obama in her presentation and how anybody with an open heart feels after hearing her! I sorta kinda got chills. Loved it.

And when Individual 1 announced his candidacy, there were about 50 people there– because he paid them to show up.

    • January 28, 2019 at 11:13 am

Dicktraitor has undermined our Government, our economy and our National Security. Begged, sided with and thanked Russia. Leaked “confidential information about classified intelligence to Russian envoys; undermined his own U.N. ambassador by telling the Kremlin not to worry about any punishment she promised would be meted out for heinous acts; begged for Russia to be allowed back in the G7 after it was kicked out for invading another European country; and literally sided with Vladimir Putin over U.S. intelligence agencies on the matter of election meddling. This pattern of servile behavior…comes in stark contrast to the treatment actual U.S. allies receive.” (Vanity Fair)
Now his Treasury stooge movie financier/fantasy maker Mnuchin (just “trust” Trump) has lifted sanctions on Putin’s $$$ bff Deripaska.

Would the fireplace opening qualify as a “hole”? Just asking? Comrade Minus wouldn’t know a hole in the wall to the big empty hole between his two ears.

And he no doubt can’t hold a basketball with those little tiny hands. Only paper towels will fit ’em, because you can drop them on somebody’s head and nobody keeps score.

Orange jerk continues to be so jealous of President Obama, it’s a true derangement.

It wasn’t so much that we had a government shutdown, we had a shutdown because we elect politicians that will use a government shutdown as a weapon. In my nineteen years as a government employee I’ve been through a shutdown or two, I suspect if I continue to work for the Feds I’ll probably go through another shutdown at some point. The only sure-fire way to avoid a government shutdown is to not elect politicians that see citizens as bargaining chips.

Poor Tom Brokaw, he held out as long as he could. The demographics of his neighborhood seemingly changed overnight. Why just last week a white woman and a black man were seen kissing right in front of Tom’s brownstone.

      January 28, 2019 at 11:40 am

Besieged, Tom jumped on the horn to MSNBC looking for a way to talk about race mixing, and what better host to carry his message than Chuck Todd, a man a mile wide and an inch deep.

Those two rapscallions would spend the better part of thirty minutes waxing poetically about “Brown Grandbabies,” Chuck, giddy with delight that someone of Brokaw’s stature would come on his show to push his theories on immigration and assimilation.

    Take McConnell. Please.
McConnell was busy obstructing America’s progress and dismantling the Senate well before Putin handed us Trump. Then the two of them forwarded Putin’s agenda. ‘Apprentice’ softened us up for the spectacle distraction show by Trump. McConnell softened us up for a Koch-Trump take down of the United States. McConnell is facilitating Putin’s wish to pulverize our government, manufacture ’emergencies’, using shock tactics to threaten protocols and rule of law. And btw the plan was always to lift russian oil sanctions…we’re being prepped.
-Is the head fake that russia-funded McConnell is somehow immune?
    Common sense = Investigate McConnell.
