Happy New Year everyone. I just finished reading “Becoming” by Michelle Obama. What a fantastic book. It made me laugh, it made me cry (a lot) and it made me hopeful for the future of our country despite what we’re going through right now under our current leadership. This hope and the values she reinforces throughout her book, is a wonderful way to start the new year. I wish you all a fantastic 2019.

I am almost done with Becoming. Saw Vice on Christmas Day night. Even if you knew most of what was going on at that time you still will learn more appalling things. It gives you even more perspective on how we got here today.

Its something more, its like giving away our country. I can almost understand giving away secrets, but to give away your own country is a very different animal all together.

I worry that we have put too much faith in one person, Mueller. That we assume he can overturn this mess when it touches the Administration, the Senate, Many in the GOP, and even some GOP appointed Supreme Court Judges. So many in power not wanting the truth to come out. I feel the Citizen United decision started many of today’s campaign problems that led to the temptation of accepting money from foreign countries.

  9. January 1, 2019 at 3:09 pm

The great irony is that the U.S. itself drafted much of the original text under the Obama administration, aiming to ensure that Washington, not Beijing, writes the rules of global trade and commerce in the 21st century.

Of all the things that really got me upset during the Obama Administration was the TPP, we could have wrote the rules for trade going forward far far into the future. But no, a bunch of republicans and Democrats, specifically Warren and Sanders were against it. Its called having a vision, which President Obama had an abundance of.

Exactly, wonder what Bernie and Thom Hartmann have to say about the USA being left out? They were loud-mouths against TPP. Oh and so was Elizabeth Warren!!!

      • 25 Betsy
        January 2, 2019 at 2:28 pm

I agree with you Don. It was very upsetting. Sherwood Brown was really against it, and I was upset about his lack of trust in Obama.

      January 1, 2019 at 4:13 pm

I blame folks like Bernie Sanders and the far left (including the far left talk show hosts) for blowing up the TPP. Even Sherrod Brown and Elizabeth Warren share some of the blame.

I think you are right Bobfr. When RMoney said Russia was our “greatest political foe” it sounded like a left field statement. Now with all we know about Russia, I think Putin approached RMoney back in 2012 to help him beat Obama and he said NO Thanks. Youre right, RMoney is just as narcissistic, greedy, and a host of adjectives that descript WH occupant except Traitor.

I respect every Democrat who has and will throw their hat into the presidential race but there’s only one person who can win every demographic for us and increase our down ballot wins at the federal, state and local level.

I hate any of the comparisons like this that are made for ANYONE! Honestly, lazy media and lazy pundits compare people this way! She is unique and has her own story to tell and her own qualifications to share. I really am offended by anyone that dares to throw out this slop and try to pass it off as legit or thoughtful. Makes me want to pull out my hair

It’s also interesting that Romney waited until AFTER his victory in Utah. He’s been silent on the evils of Trump and his administration until now. I think he’s just trying to position himself with the mainstream media (i.e. Sunday talk shows) to be their new star, now that John McCain is no longer available every single week. What I expect to happen is, after a few nasty tweets from Trump, Romney will start simpering close behind him. I don’t trust Romney in the same way that I do not trust any other Republican: they are always out for themselves first (and only).

I am so tired of reporters not reacting to Trump’s lies immediately and correcting him. They’re afraid of not being invited back but I would wear that as a badge of honor if I were a Washington reporter. It’s the same thing in the newspapers. How many words and expressions can be used to say that someone is lying without saying that the person is lying? The nuances used are astounding. Trump lies. Every sentence that comes out of his brain and mouth is full of lies. That’s the reality of it. I wish the media would report it as such.
