Aloha desertflower! Hope you’re having a wonderful holiday!

This post is so important– we’ve been lax in allowing the GOPigs to language public discourse. They use sneaky semantics to make their point, so it seems natural. Perjury trap is a perfect example.

We have to be alert and counter these brainwashing tactics with clarity.

Mercel and Macron both demanded that Putin release the sailors, but they are just two lone voices. I would have thought that the U.N. would have stepped in by now and put a halt to this madness.

Day nine of going to work and not getting a paycheck, well to be honest, once the shutdown is over I’ll receive back pay. I’m more concerned about the folks out there that are living paycheck to paycheck. And yes, there are government workers that live paycheck to paycheck, I even work with some of them. These are some to the same people that voted for trump and continue to support trump, even after he recently signed an executive order taking away our pay raise.

And there is no end to this shutdown in sight. We’re just going to have to find a way to make it. I don’t want the Democrats to cave in and give one penny to this stupid wall.

Then may I suggest you telephone, email AND send a postcard to your 2 Senators and your Congressperson telling them your thoughts. Keep it simple and to the point. They need to hear from their constituents regularly on these issues.

And be sure you send your postcard to a district office as all mail sent to Washington DC still goes thru Anthrax clearance and delays your letters for 1-2 wks.

            Happy New Year everyone!

When the federal government is shut down like this, then those most responsible for it should be the first to feel the negative effects: members of Congress, president, vice president and other members of the administration, and federal judges. I also think that Air Force One and helicopters and other vehicles used to transport government leaders (and their spouses) should be grounded. If the leadership felt any of the ill effects then the whole thing would end quickly or, more likely, would never have begun.

Why should the first to be punished by such willful misbehavior always be those in the most ordinary positions who are also least responsible for the morass that led to the shutdown?

The current shutdown is caused entirely by the White House occupier’s incessant temper tantrum about a wall that no border or immigration experts think is worth the time or money. He and his supporters should be the first to feel the brunt.

SOoooo, as usual, the WH IDIOT hasn’t done research into possible impacts to, or the feasibility of, *his* wall. Pity federal servants can’t sue him personally for the financial harm he’s causing them with an issue that has no immediate resolution.

Over the last several months, opponents of President Donald Trump’s plan for the expansion of a border wall with Mexico have listed innumerable reasons why they believe it’s a bad idea. And now there’s one new reason. Construction as planned may violate a 47-year-old boundary treaty between the two countries – an issue that could end up in an international court.

Texas-based NPR reporter John Burnett says Antonio Rascón, chief Mexican engineer on the International Boundary and Water Commission, came to NPR with the story.

The commission is both in Juarez, Mexico and El Paso, Texas, and is normally a quiet job about diplomacy and allocation of water, Burnett says. But Rascón told Burnett he was gravely concerned about what a concrete wall would do to the river, especially in the Rio Grande Valley.

“Mexico has been growing more and more alarmed as they see plans for Trump’s wall progress,” Burnett says. “In the west desert on the Arizona-Mexico border we have proven examples that border security fencing has clogged with debris and has caused very serious flooding in places. … These walls, when they get clogged with debris, act like a dam.”

A 1970 treaty signed by both countries says neither side can put an obstruction in the floodplain, unless both countries sign off.

Plus, I got a Scrabble game for my Nintendo DS so that won’t be far away either. I’ve already clocked over 17 hours on *that* since Christmas! There won’t be a dull moment here … after I get back from that trip to the store that I’ve been putting off for hours now,

Kummba-Creativity….This principle shows us that we have a responsiblity to our community as well as to ourselves.Being a block captain and a member of an organized block gave me and my neighbors a chance to practice the principle of Kuumba… we were our brother’s keeper, our sister’s keeper, We need our elected reps to practice a bit of Kuumba…and with our encouragement…they can..

.I listened to a podcast from the PA ACLU…called “Speaking Freely”, regarding the PA social justice victories…it gave me hope for our struggles…the Executive director of the PA ACLU is a black man…Reggie Shuford…i want to quote a few of his remarks…(Bob..he talked about #TruthandReconciliation)

He said that we will continue to make slow incremental progress until we begin the process of Truth and Reconciliation…he said that we have never come to terms with the fact that we were a slave owning country or deal with the current manifestations of that past..he said without this reckoning, meaningful Sustained progress and advancement is not possible…we will continue that one step forward / 2 steps back syndrome

I would add…that there is one party today that uses racism…etc to keep power..and that there is a whole RW entertainment network…whose main purpose is to stroke and solidify racism in white folks… that is why we are always moving forward…but then moving backwards because of backlash…

I must say this answers the question that young folks have posed to me…Why do we keep fighting thse battles…
      My question for 2019….
How do we move toward Truth and Reconciliation…even as we keep fighting the powers that seek to enslave us…

Wishing everyone a Healthy New Year…that we continue to sustain each other as we continue to fight for Justice and move towards Truth and Reconciliation….

I’m sort of thinking along those same lines, but I don’t want to deny Warren the opportunity to run. But I know one thing, making sausages is never clean. Running for President is a vicious game, I’m going to vote for whomever can carry out my interest. Me personally I would love to see Harris or Booker or Beto or Biden run, those four interest me. I’m certainly not feeling Che Sanders.

        • December 31, 2018 at 12:06 pm

            December 31, 2018 at 2:21 pm

Somewhere along the way Sanders became more of a “brand” in that whatever he tried to do gave way to his persona. Eventually you have to stop railing against the “oligarchs” and actually come up with a plan.

Stayed on the channel long enough to hear Hayes say that he wants the Democratic House investigations and the Mueller report because there are still questions that he has that he wants answers to….and doesn’t Moore want to know too?

    • 108 Don

Moore can afford not to know the depths of this administration’s corruption. Susan Sarandon and Bernie Sanders both can afford not to know. Their financial status inoculates them from what you and I need, and must know about this administration. What pisses me off is that both Moore and Sarandon can afford to tell the public not to vote, and sometimes the public will listen and not vote. When it comes to Moore and his ilk, I make it my business not to listen to a damn thing that they have to say, because usually whatever they are saying is not in my best interest.
