Sandler is one of those far left pundits with a talk show; I will never listen to her. She is one who will never be satisfied. They are willing to excuse the fact that Russia was helping Bernie and Jill Stein.

Most Black people are not sitting around listening to the pundits and following intra party fights on Twitter. We know all to well the realities of political life in US and it is always about choosing the lesser evil. We know that we will be sacrificed, our needs ignored for compromises that do not benefit us and that so-called leaders are all too human and prey to the pitfalls that are there for those who seek power for whatever reason. We know what it means to be Black in America and know that no politician will save us .No matter who is in office, we will be persecuted and our lives hindered. Yet with all of this, we vote and teach our children to do the same. We are realistic, with a small dash of hope that there will be a little forward movement during our lifetimes or that of our children. We are not up in the air about Bernie or looking to Beto. We were realistic about PBO’s presidency as we were about all of them and were not looking for unicorns and rainbows. We were too busy praying that he would not be killed and that he would not shame us; anything else we took with gratitude but did not fool ourselves into believing that it could not be taken away. Most of us know our history in these states in our very bones and we are not ones to be bamboozled. Not worried about the Bernies, nor impressed by opportunists like Avanetti; nor do we think the new congress will come in and cure all problems .Some of them have already shown themselves to be more concerned about upping their public profiles than doing anything that will make a real difference in our lives. Anyone, especially in public life, who has not had the privilege to be around Black folk, especially the women of a certain age, know nothing about what Black people think and feel. White people that we see everyday and who socialize with us know very little about what is going on below the surface. As long as they feel comfortable (a survival tactic that we learn early), they will never think to search deeper.
