If our votes don’t count, this is no longer a democracy. We need to get to the bottom of this anti-democratic misconduct. Outrageous.

Happy Chanukah to those that celebrate.

Didn’t the Obamas also used to attend the gala? Loved seeing them in the audience, relaxing.

I’m going to enjoying watching this one – minus trump – because Cher HATES trump. Ha.

Been watching the Global Citizen Festival to honor Nelson Mandela’s 100th (on MSNBC), and it has been great. So glad I decided to record it, and the music’s phenomenal. Makes us remember how the world could be (how parts of it still are or are becoming, if we don’t give up), when we all work together … and when leaders around the world and at home actually know how to lead, and do so.

(Adding the most shallow comment about the program I could add, but I can’t help myself: co-host Joy Reid looks stunning!)

So happy that she never wore those awful suits that previous First Ladies felt they had to wear in and out of office. Michelle is a true original; determined define who and what she is for herself and to live authentically. Post White House she living out loud with no fucks left to give for other people’s bullshit.

“Continuation of civilization is in your hands.” Sir David Attenborough said today at the U.N. Climate Summit represented by 200 nations.
= We need complete cooperation internationally because we are up against the collapse of civilization.
–Under president Rosneft we’re the only country in the developed world rejecting the fact of climate change in favor of fossil fuels.

    • December 3, 2018 at 9:55 am

Hello we don’t need Democrats to ‘compromise’ with the opposition this time: McConnevill has proudly Not compromised for over a decade. END Dem cow-towing going forward!! We need buy-in from the entire leadership nationwide on Climate Action. If we go along with Trump we are all responsible for massive extinction of species worldwide. Fact: GOP leadership is compromised by Russia, Koch and Big Oil.
-We won’t get another PBO, but we need a president and a congress that understands the imminent threat to all Earth species.

      • December 3, 2018 at 10:43 am

One can only compromise with folks of good faith

      • December 3, 2018 at 11:15 am

-just so. that being absent right now. Maybe compromise will be possible in the wished-for future. But as usual we’ve been dropped in the GOP do-do. So now with confidence Dems can go for the big issues, climate action, pro-science, medicare for all, immigration law, living wage, free education, public education, social protections, gun safety reform, upholding the rule of law, criminal justice, returning stolen children to their families, asylum processes, restoring VA benefits, restoring environmental protections and climate change data, protection of journalists, holding foreign countries accountable, and etc. Bring justice to office holders who are traitors lining their own pockets, and child abusers/killers. New Dems can make a splash by first setting things to rights – and putting their Egos last. thanx.

Time Person of the year poll.
Please vote for our FLOTUS for the Time Person of the Year!
The Time editors will make the final selection but they let the public weigh in. The current poll leaders are the Crown Prince of Saudia Arabia and the newly elected president of Brazil. It would be nice if Time selected a bright light in the world vs darkness and evil.
BECOMING the best selling book of 2018 and the sold out book tours show us how desperate we all all for Hope once again.
I also voted for Planet Earth.. which is suffering from climate change and the indifference by those in power.

    Spread the word TOD family.

Just wondering why Time Magazine placed Mrs. Obama’s photo so far back. Most people are not going to take the time to scroll that far to discover her almost hidden inclusion. In fact, she is not even mentioned in the promotion section. Very disappointed with Time Magazine.

An observation that makes me go hmmm: The Obamas appear to have a better relationship with the Bushes than they do with the Clintons. I will go as far to say that they the two families do not have a relationship at all beyond politics, and even with this, the small connection is with Hillary only. Class, discuss.

    • 87 Jewelz
      December 3, 2018 at 7:32 pm

I don’t think Bill has ever forgiven (or will ever forgive) Obama for having the audacity to ran against his wife in 2008. And I also feel that he partly blames Obama and his administration for failing to take Russia interferences seriously leading up to the election, and thus in his mind indirectly blames them for his wife’s loss in 2016. Not to mention the fact that a republican was appointed by President Obama to oversee the FBI, and in ironic bad karma, that said republican caused serious damage to his wife presidential hopes less than a month before the election. He’s not happy that he will never get a chance to return to the WH.

And to answer your question, no I don’t believe there is any relationship between the Obamas and the Clintons currently. The Clintons (especially Bill) are the type that hold grudges and never really forgive or forget. And worst of all, they never ever admit to making mistakes and would rather blame others for their shortcomings.

Not that I gave the matter too much thought, but Jewelz’s response, IMO, throws the weight for the distance solely to Bill’s feelings. Since every time I hear pundits/republicans using Bill’s lack of self-control (or whatever) against Dems I’m reminded of my disgust and lack of respect for his behaviour, it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s more to the distance. I wonder if the Obamas also contribute to some of the distance between the two couples. I like to think they too have a certain lack of respect for Billy and the fact that he’s tainted the party’s reputation to such an extent that his impeachment is forever a talking point. In addition, Billy-boy is IMO relatively shallow, supercilious even, and the Obamas are people who not only appreciate sincerity, they are also not full of themselves.

OTH, I read the younger Bush as clueless in his simplicity. He was awful as a leader, yet he seemed sincere in his behaviour/beliefs. He was likely an awful president because he was boxing WAY above his mental weight. Michelle made a comment once about sitting at the table with bosses/leaders who’d been promoted beyond their capabilities, and each time I see her with the younger Bush I’m reminded of that viewpoint. To me she treats him like a nice, simple, potentially likeable man – I like to think she has no animosity toward him because people wanted him to have insights and make sensible decisions that he was just not capable of having or doing. In other words, I like to think she has empathy towards him because she and her husband are people who see beyond outward appearances and are very empathetic.

At work when I receive an inner office correspondence that requires me to sign something it usually has the sticky note shaped like an arrow telling me exactly the fuck where to sign so I won’t sign in the wrong place. But damn, this guy’s the President, and he still signed in the wrong place. I remember watching it live and thought to myself that the whole signing looked awkward for some reason, and now we know why.

    Dec 11 – defendant’s memo
Dec 12 – Michael Cohen sentencing
    Dec 14 – govt response
    Dec 18, 11am – Flynn sentencing
Dec 19 – Butina status hearing

Dec 4 – Jeffrey Epstein’s civil trial is expected to begin Dec. 4 in Palm Beach County Circuit Court.
