So many reasons to VOTE and do it early if at all possible. My ballot is in the mail to me, and I pledge to vote the day it comes and put it in the dropbox at my local library the same day. I know all the issues and the candidates. It’s clear who cares about people like us. Vote by mail like Oregon’s system should be nation-wide. Then they couldn’t scam legitimate voters out of a ballot.

Vote vote vote your life depends on it. Ignore the naysayers, go to the polls and take a neighbour or family friend. Vote early, absentee vote, mail vote, stand in line vote, make sure 10 other persons you know vote, vote vote vote, your life and the life of your nearest and dearest depend on it. Thank you for listening to my rant for the day. Back to regular programming.

Agree Anjo. I am going to stop watching the poll news segments. The important thing is to vote like my life depends on it.

Why am I tempted to say, “Donny, we hardly knew ye.”

Glad he’s gone. But typical trump. You get Kavanaugh installed on SCOTUS, walk him through it, we’re all stuck with him, and you’ll be gone in a week or two yourself, because I, donald j trump, have no loyalty whatsoever to anyone. Bye, Donny. You should have taken the other don with you.

Maybe McGahn will go talk frankly to Mueller, now.

Being totally frivolous, but do I see chocolates in tin foil (those that look like coins, popular in the 1970’s) behind iQ45 in his presser about Khashoggi? Said tin foil coins in display “case” to left. To right are 2 framed photos & some kind of dick gold award statue. 😂

    • 38 jacquelineoboomer
      October 18, 2018 at 12:41 am

That made me laugh! I think the 2 photos are of his mother and father. Not that I think he was close to either, and I’ve always felt neither ever gave him any human love, so when he looks at their photos, he probably mentally says to them, “I’m the president, and you weren’t.”

Love your description of those “things” in the display case – chocolates in tin foil. I don’t really want to know what they are, so I never try to find out. I prefer to think they’re several flavors of “chap stick” for his godawful pasty lips (eek – I mentioned his lips – now I have to wash my brain! anybody have any chocolate?).

if you are a serious about politics, you know that as election day/season approaches, the majority of the press has a way of trying their best to demoralize Democrats and their chances.

but man, now many seem to be in over-drive with their usual routine …..

i have to constantly remind myself to ignore the noise and use my time, resources, and energy to push for actual voting …… but it is not the easiest thing given all the negativity and one poll after another.

    smdh

    http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/republican-voters-see-illegal-immigration-the-nations-1-issue

    Racist sheeple.

Among Republican voters, only one issue was of comparable significance: illegal immigration. It was named by 75% of GOP voters as a “very important” national issue.

The gap between partisans raises a unique set of concerns, but Slate’s Leon Krauze explained yesterday that there’s simply no reason for Republicans to see illegal immigration as the #1 most important issue facing the United States.

[T]here is no evidence to support the idea that illegal immigration has become an urgent problem for the United States, much less a national security emergency. As pro-immigration advocates have repeated ad nauseam, various studies suggest that immigrants are considerably less prone to engage in criminal activity than native-born Americans. […]

Immigration is also not the economic scourge nativists claim it is. On the contrary: Various industries would collapse in the United States without the reliable low-skilled workforce long provided by undocumented immigrants.

What’s more, the New York Times reported a few months ago that the number of immigrants caught illegally trying to cross the border in 2017 was the lowest in nearly five decades. In fact, illegal border crossings began to fall years ago – the Obama administration increased border security, a fact the right prefers to ignore – and have since reached generational lows.

All of which leads to an obvious question: why do Republican voters see this as the nation’s top issue.

The answer almost certainly has a lot to do with what their president tells them to believe. Just this morning, for example, Donald Trump described a crisis along the U.S./Mexico border, about which the president is making fresh threats. “I must, in the strongest of terms,” Trump wrote, “ask Mexico to stop this onslaught – and if unable to do so I will call up the U.S. Military and CLOSE OUR SOUTHERN BORDER!”

    • 61 globalcitizenlinda
      October 18, 2018 at 10:53 am

immigration is really being used here the same way as they used “economic anxiety” ….. just a code word for what is really, really, …., really justifying their vote for people they know should not be anywhere near public service

Pompeo arrived in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday = same day the Saudi kingdom sent $100 million to the U.S. government. (Wapo, NYT reporting)
“Trump and Pompeo have continually stressed close ties between the Saudis and the United States, and have also mentioned several times the massive amounts of money that the U.S. receives from the kingdom”. (ThinkProgress)
–Let’s not allow Pompeo to delay the truth with GOP’s “no rush to judgement” game – hoping for media amnesia: Audiotapes.
–Turkey please release the audiotape and whatever else you know.
–WHAT did the Dicktraitor know before the killing of Khashoggi?
How did the murderers and plotters think this would go WITHOUT the Kashoggi audiotapes.

The problem with thieves, liars, and narcissists is that they get comfortable in their own skins … but the good thing is then they start to make mistakes. BIG mistakes. Big, transparent mistakes. Actually, trump’s been doing that since day one, and I cannot wait until he’s behind bars or home in an ankle bracelet, whichever comes first, talking to himself.

Khashoggi’s last Wapo column “perfectly captures his commitment and passion for freedom in the Arab world.” (Opinion editor Karen Attiah)
He wrote: “Arab governments have been given free rein to continue silencing the media at an increasing rate”. “There was a time when journalists believed the Internet would liberate information from the censorship and control associated with print media. But these governments, whose very existence relies on the control of information, have aggressively blocked the Internet,” “As a result, Arabs living in these countries are either uninformed or misinformed. They are unable to adequately address, much less publicly discuss, matters that affect the region and their day-to-day lives.” (https://www.aljazeera.com/…/column-khashoggi-wrote-threats-free-media-181018052.)

“The Middle East ranks alongside North Africa as the region where press freedom is most in peril globally.” (Al Jazeera)
Are we going to let proto-fascist plutocrats terrorize, attack and dismember Journalists; settle for their “mutually acceptable explanation”(Lawrence) of the audio record and big evidence of Khashoggi’s depraved murder; capitulate to their Be Afraid Or Else message?
