I just got home getting ready to take a nap and turned on MSNBC and the lady on MTP was talking about how having Obama campaign and now Hillary is out too, will embolden the Repubs because they are the reason Trump won. She said there will be a red wave. I had to turn it off.

truth is that the republicans are afraid of seeing that the specific Dems, who are loved and admired by millions, are coming out and getting into the fight for our future.

why do republicans always try to make decisions for the Dems?

why do media personalities and all kinds of pundits feel a need to immediately and repeatedly take the republican propaganda and then promote it as reality and law???

        September 18, 2018 at 7:13 pm

I think of the “advice” that GOP pundits give as concern trolling, kind of like Tokyo Rose. When they repeat the ethos they want to put on us, weak, disorganized, crooked, or whatever they are insinuating I think of it as gaslighting or false feedback. In my mind I say the words “That’s what you say” and put my fist in the air for emphasis.

That’s the new GOP meme mtmarilyn. I heard the same thing last night on CNN they had all these “Rump voters” on asking them if they are going to vote and if they are still happy with Rump. One millennial said she is not voting in the mid terms and one lady said she is disappointed in his tweets but is glad he’s picking the SC justices. This morning again it was Kornacki talking about maybe there is not this big huge Blue Wave and how there are pockets of Red voters that voted for Hillary and Obama but said they are voting GOP in the mid-terms. I don’t think these pundits know a damn thing. People are lying just like in 2016. We’ll wait and see what happens. Just GOTV!

    • September 18, 2018 at 6:38 pm

I heard her too – no idea who she was but will attempt to find out. Reconfirmed why I normally leave tv off at that hour…

Thank you Judy. I never watch Chuck Todd and those few minutes were enough. She was so sincere and it plays on my fears. What if she is right. Some times it seems too overwhelming.

Then I come to TOD and get reinvigorated. We all have to work at this. There is no taking anything for granted.

    • September 18, 2018 at 7:36 pm

Just remember, in EVERY SINGLE ELECTION, the MSM pundits and the GOP come out with these kinds of stories that purport to show Democratic weakness across the board. Every single time. Their purpose is to suppress the vote.

The only way for us to win is to show up at the polls and bring as many people with you as you can.

A more honorable person would have bowed out by now, but not Kavanaugh, Kavanaugh isn’t bowing out because he’s going to fight to the death to sit on the Supreme Court. Kavanaugh isn’t out in the public proclaiming his innocence as many would, no, he’s hunkered down somewhere plotting his next move.

    • September 18, 2018 at 9:02 pm

Exactly. You’d think as judge and as a legal matter, he’d want a full investigation and then testimony. But that’s not what’s happening. This whole fiasco has been one long protracted cover-up.

    • 41 Susanne
      September 18, 2018 at 9:50 pm

I’m thinking he will have to resign from his current judgeship, too. And then there may well be civil suits, criminal action. He needs to withdraw his nomination, and go crawl under a rock.

      • 42 Don
        September 18, 2018 at 11:01 pm

Yep, Kavanaugh’s position is untenable, he might not even be able to return to his current judgeship. And how long will Trump keep fighting for him? Once the rumors start that Trump is considering dropping him, his nomination will be dead in the water.

    • 44 jacquelineoboomer
      September 18, 2018 at 11:02 pm

Apparently, he’s been hunkered down at the White House with the WH Counsel for two days, eight or so hours at a stretch, planning his next lies – and calling RWNJ senators to gain support.

    Good morning, TODville.

Yesterday there was a Q poll that said Cruz was 9 points ahead. Today there’s this. BOTTOM LINE: do no let up one single minute. Let’s keep making sure people are registered, that they have a ride to the polls and that they commit to bring others with them.

Meta, Morning Joe cited that Q poll this morning, saying that it appears that Texas look like a red state and not a purple state after all. They did not mention this poll. I have relatives in Texas, and they are telling me hat they are seeing Beto signs everywhere, even in unlikely neighborhoods.

Republicans are going to Republican. Even though everyone knows Trump is a complete disaster, they are freaked out at the thought of losing the Senate. I mean, just imagine………we could actually begin the long process of restoring sanity and justice. They can’t have that.

What do you think of this: “Students Don’t Know How to Buy Stamps So They’re Not Voting By Mail”. (Vidal)
“focus group in Fairfax County, Virginia has found that a large number of college students who have received an absentee ballot failed to send it back in because they didn’t know where to buy a U.S. Postal Service stamp.”
    Important. Is it fixable?

    • 124 desertflower
      September 19, 2018 at 11:36 am

I thought that the mail in ballot didn’t require a stamp

    • September 19, 2018 at 12:02 pm

In San Diego: “Mail voter reminder: Due to the weight of the 2-page ballot, 67 cents postage is required to return your ballot.”
“For the third year in a row, Ohio absentee voters are not sure how many stamps to place on the oversized absentee ballot.”
Looks like a helluva righty scam one way or the other as then you’ll hear that the vote will be counted anyway.
“The U.S. Postal Service’s official policy is to deliver all absentee and mail-in ballots, regardless of whether they have proper postage, according to spokeswoman Sue Brennan. … “Technically, sending mail requires postage,”
Brennan told TIME in an email. “Voters should affix a stamp to their ballot”.
How about misinformation and confusion making.

YouTube has become a powerful far-right propaganda organ:
“new (Data And Society Research) report reveals the depths to which the Google-owned online video platform is adept at propagating far-right propaganda, running the gamut from white supremacy to racist alt-right ideologies…Alternative Influence Network (AIN), which, via the report, is defined as a network of 65 political influencers across 81 channels who profit from broadcasting their views. Many of these influencers openly support racism, misogyny, and white nationalism on the platform.”

    small rant thanks for listening:
Trumputin and his mini-me Kavanaugh: Says he “feels really bad for Kavanaugh”.
Well we were DEVASTATED by the way Chief United States Circuit Judge Garland was mistreated for an entire year. Trump has shown serially through his words, deeds and policies that he is a racial authoritarian, white supremacist and a misogynist. Trump’s matter-of-fact fascism will be forwarded by Kavanaugh who may be enamored by his captor (who I’m guessing got him to the WH and bullied him not to withdraw). Trump is a lie factory and Kavanaugh has already lied to Congress. “Kavanaugh’s opinions have demonstrated his vision of workplaces where women cannot enforce their rights against discrimination and where immigrants may not have any rights at all.” (AFSCME). We want to SEE the record that Grassley is sitting on. Forcible sex may only be the beginning. Let’s shatter elite white boy privilege. imo Kavanaugh shouldn’t be excused from the crap that is perpetrated every day upon Womyn across this nation.

If Republicans will not allow the FBI to do its job, maybe we should all encourage the Maryland AG to begin an investigation into the attempted rape of Prof. Ford. I understand that there is no statute of limitations on this….

      • September 19, 2018 at 12:12 pm

Federal Bureau of Investigation’s role here: “would be to re-open the Kavanaugh background investigation.
Additionally, some in the FBI…are annoyed by President Trump’s statements that the FBI doesn’t do this or this “is not really their thing” when there are FBI agents who do NOTHING BUT interview sex crime victims.” (nbc)

I have worked in STATE government most of my life. It is drilled into us to make sure we are cognizant of not wasting taxpayer money, i.e. lowest possible air fares, hotels, etc. We are not required to stay in dumps or take flights with multiple stops but we don’t fly first class unless we pay the difference or stay at expensive hotels. We must stay within a certain $ or explain why we went with the more expense hotel or means of travel.

When you are higher up all those norms go out the window especially these SWAMP Monsters.
