The 1978 Presidential Records Act (44 U.S.C. §§ 2201–2207) requires that we see all of Kavanaugh’s written history.
Dianne Feinstein: ““I have been on the Committee for more than twenty years and have been involved in ten prior Supreme Court nominations. This has never happened before, and a biased denial of document requests to one half of the Committee is unsupported by the law and impedes the minority’s ability to discharge its constitutional obligation to provide advice and consent.”

“Although the movie features an impressive number of expert talking heads, Bryan said that they purposely did not reach out to some veterans of the Trump campaign, such as Carter Page and Roger Stone, who have been very visible in telling their views on what happened.

“We wanted to be careful to who we reached out,” Bryan said. “There is sort of a notion that you have to present both sides, but for me I didn’t want to put anything in the film I thought could be fake, I thought could be a lie. I think that Carter Page and Roger Stone say things that don’t make sense when compared to what clearly has happened. So I didn’t want to be spending a lot of time walking things back that people said.””

GOP and Fox News are now the mouthpieces & facilitators for the Russian/American mafia.
We know the US government is in effect a wing of the Russian mafia. And this is now evident at the highest levels of US government. Trump and cohorts are deeply compromised: Their hope is that a Kavanaugh will keep them in power by stopping Trump from getting indicted – and thus prevent the lot of them from being convicted. GOP officials have no business installing an SC justice for life.

Can Republicans be charged with aiding and abetting if they knowingly enable trump via Kavanaugh and block Russia investigation? Wouldn’t the Senators that allowed all this be co conspirators? I’m not a lawyer, but if they aid in this at all, knowing what they know, it would appear to be a no brainer to me

    • 64 desertflower
      September 3, 2018 at 7:00 pm

A criminal charge of aiding and abetting or accessory can usually be brought against anyone who helps in the commission of a crime, though legal distinctions vary by state. A person charged with aiding and abetting or accessory is usually not present when the crime itself is committed, but he or she has knowledge of the crime before or after the fact, and may assist in its commission through advice, actions, or financial support. Depending on the degree of involvement, the offender’s participation in the crime may rise to the level of conspiracy.

Yes, and yes and yass! A lifetime of doing the right thing being honored in so many ways, day after day. Doing the right thing, not taking questionable shortcuts or doing things because “everybody” else is doing it, takes courage, faith and a strong moral confidence. Have been hearing/seeing too many saying “fight fire with fire” or belittling the Obama mantra of going high while others go low. Our side has to show an opposite and honorable way of living and working in the world to provide a real choice, inspiration and hope for a better world. So good to see all of the recognition that PBO is receiving. “He has never let us down, he has never shamed us ” and his example will continue to inspire millions all over the world. Hate really is only for a season while love is everlasting.

Also there will be wider interest in their 30 year anniversary campaign. They get free advertising, more sales, and props for being forward-thinking, inclusive, and cutting edge. If Nike did not think that they would get dollars for including CK they would not have done it. The added value that they will get for this bold move is way more than whatever they may lose from disgruntled racists.

“Yes, it’s possible to indict a sitting U.S. president. Here’s why (written by Corey Brettschneider)

August 29, 2018 The Washington Post

Corey Brettschneider, Professor of Political Science, writes on presidential immunity in the Washington Post. Brettschneider’s forthcoming book,“The Oath and the Office: A Guide to the Constitution for Future Presidents, is released on September 18 and is the subject of this year’s Alexander Meiklejohn Lecture at Brown University on September 21.”

    • September 3, 2018 at 9:16 pm

“At the same time Clinton v. Jones was decided, independent counsel Ken Starr was investigating other alleged misconduct by Clinton. Although his team ultimately decided to issue a report to Congress instead, Starr did consider indicting Clinton, and his office produced a memo arguing that it was constitutionally permissible. Not surprisingly, the Clinton administration disagreed. In 2000, Clinton’s Office of Legal Counsel wrote a memo that essentially reiterated his legal team’s argument from Clinton v. Jones, now in the context of a criminal case. This argument – although it clashes with the Supreme Court’s rulings in U.S. v. Nixon and Clinton v. Jones – has become de facto Justice Department policy.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, the supervising attorney in the special counsel’s investigation, could yet decide to allow Mueller to seek an indictment of Trump – and he would have a sound precedent for doing so in the Nixon and Jones cases. A flawed Clinton-era legal memo should not be used to prevent an indictment in this or other investigations. The urgency of the current moment might require bold action by the Justice Department to defend the rule of law.

The oath of office requires the president to “protect and defend” the Constitution and the country’s laws – not to use them to hide from criminal responsibility. Israel learned the hard way about the harsh consequences of granting immunity to its president. The presidential office does not make its occupant too dignified to be subject to criminal indictment. The real indignity comes from allowing a president – whose office should be used to serve others – to commit self-serving crimes that go unpunished. Thankfully, unlike Israel’s, our Constitution does not explicitly spell out a grant of presidential immunity. The American people don’t have to make the same mistake.”

Yes, I saw that last night – it was horrendous. Reminded me of that awful “commercial” for Kavanaugh which purports to show “a teacher friend” of his, who says he’s empathetic. There was zero empathy for the teen migrant during that hearing, which we heard on the tape. I translate that as ZERO EMPATHY for all the women in this country.
