      I found her second piece on the mafia and Trump’s attack on Bruce Ohr to be very chilling especially since she’s the only one doing the reporting on this as far as I can see. Scary to see how easily people are being manipulated and how high the stakes are for this November. I’m not sure we’ve been down this kind of road before. I have to be hopeful because I am sure President Obama focuses on that and do what I can.

    GM all.

    The sentiments in this tweet are so on point. Most Dems ran from the Dem President and now seem to be capitulating to Trump and McConnell. That is not inspiring for the mid terms.

    • August 29, 2018 at 10:27 am

      I am VERY disappointed in Schumer. I never thought he’d measure up to the toughness and grit of Harry Reid and I think he’s proven me right. I wish we had someone else in the pipeline who would take no prisoners. The era of bipartisanship is over now that McConnell, Ryan and Trump lead the GOP. ENOUGH.

        Totally agree Meta!!!! I am very disappointed with Schumer. I am also disappointed with everyone who believe that they can push Nancy Pelosi aside. She made keeping the Democratic caucus together look easy. Funny, how some of these Dems can criticize her, while using her fundraising money to get elected, and distancing themselves from her. They are falling right in the Republican’s trap.

    Senate Republicans say they would like Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R) to appoint a successor to late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) who, unlike McCain, would support GOP legislation to repeal ObamaCare.

    GOP lawmakers say they won’t have time to hold another vote to repeal the law in 2018 but vow to try again next year if they manage to keep their Senate and House majorities.

    “If we re-engage in that discussion in some point in the future, it would be nice to have members who enable us to pass it,” Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Thune (S.D.) said when asked about the possibility of ObamaCare repeal legislation coming up for a future vote.
    Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) said he hopes the next senator from Arizona will be a “strong ally” who “recognizes that ObamaCare is not a proper solution.”

    “It hasn’t worked, it’s created a lot of harm and damage to real people,” he added.

  32. August 29, 2018 at 10:54 am

    McCain certainly voted in some cases to undermine Native Americans (especially voting to sell off sacred land to mining interests) but they are stepping forward to honor him.

          I remember when white collar criminals were punished with 30yr sentences back in the 1980’s. Since Raygun these criminals have insulated themselves with short jail sentences or none. They have the money to escape prison and then do it all over again. This has to change. We seriously need a mind change that this is not OK. Starting with the criminal-in-chief sitting in the WH.

    Ah Republicans in Congress busy-busy openly working for Putin to keep Trump in office. Protecting his illicit network$$ from which they benefit.
    Trying to stop the FBI from exposing them. Protecting Trump’s history and business interests. Protecting Putin and the Russian mafia.
    Seems Trump’s only friends are dictators and mafia. Trump was a mafia guy before he became pretend president — and now he has completely corrupted the US government.

    • August 29, 2018 at 2:51 pm

      So they want to bury the Mueller report however they can, e.g. by installing a Trump lackey in Session’s place. Who could’ve imagined congressional Republicans going after the very FBI patriots who brought down Russian gangsters? (Viz. the remarkable Mr. Strzok who brought some viewers (not me) “The Ambassadors”. ) What do you mean – gone? We need him!! And we need Bohr more than ever now. So now the Un-American President is a Russian asset and gangster whose goons will get rid of you but not bump you off (yet). So McConnell’s GOP Senate has gone even further than just being utterly sold out to the KOCH Oil brothers: They now appear to be working openly for Crime organizations, domestic and foreign.

    • August 29, 2018 at 2:53 pm

        • August 29, 2018 at 6:53 pm

          Just looked into the origin of “crying Anthony”. I think it comes from Shakester’s Julius Caeser. Antony: “Thy heart is big. Get thee apart and weep. Passion, I see, is catching, for mine eyes, seeing those beads of sorrow stand in thine, began to water. Is thy master coming?”

    the beltway and some people cannot help themselves – they simply have to go on and on about “divisions” in the Democratic party;

    I suspect that many here have noted how there is this tendency to credit others with things PBO did and implored us to in order to strengthen our role as citizens in a democracy;

    just a few of the things that PBO pushed include:
    – coalition building,

    – organizing,

    – registering new voters (especially young voters and minorities),
    – empowering each one to be creative in the campaign,
    – mobilizing small donations as a way to push for campaign finance reform,
    – campaigning against an unfair income distribution;

    etc …..

    many pretend that these first happened in the 2016 election and are the intellectual property of the non-democrat who uses the party name and resources but then turns around and destroys the party brand name by highlighting mainly shortcomings (real and imaginary);
