I hope all enjoy the weekend and celebrate those having lost their lives in service to our nation. Simplistic wish that is hard to write in this divided scary time. In order to remain sane I spent all of yesterday working in my garden alongside my peonies that are just starting to bloom, my snowball bush still in bloom and my beautiful fragrant roses.
My hope comes and goes in waves. The on again Korean Summit worries me that Trump will gain legitimacy regardless of his crimes. My wish is that besides being taken out of office all of his executive orders will be rescinded once it is judicially revealed his presidency was stolen.
In case you’re in need of a palate cleanser, Headliners on MSNBC has cast of Black Panther! Show is @ 9:00 pm ET tonight, Sunday.

Back and reading the posts. Lawrence Tribe’s fears worry me too. Seven more years of Trump at my age is a very discouraging thought. Besides promoting hate and fear they would be taking over the judicial branch in perpetuity. America would not be able to survive Trump let alone be the America we love. I keep hoping for a sea change at election time.

If a President commutes a sentence…how can it be overturned and how often has this happened..
Pardons forgive the defendant for the crime, while commutation only reduces the sentence.
But still, they are going out of there way to send this brother back to prison to finish his sentence after he has his sentence commuted by President Obama. There seems to be a lot of legal maneuvering going on just to send this guy back to prison.
In normal times when a President pardons or commutes a sentence it stands, but since these are not normal times anything goes I guess.
I am thinking that because his sentence was commuted by Pres Obama…that is just part of undoing the good that Pres Obama did….TRAGIC
My understanding of the story is that President Obama changed the sentencing guidelines in general for that type of offense, not that this particular man’s sentence was commuted or that he was pardoned. STILL a cruel and horrific turn of events for this man and his family, though. It’s a sick system when he’s turned his life around and was hoping to contribute to society. Unimaginable cruelty.
Also, PBO had the expertise and support of Eric Holder, who knew and clearly understood the inequities of sentencing and criminal justice. JEFF SESSIONS does not.

Had no idea of her family connections. I do know she’s not helping the NYT with readership efforts. I “took her down” in the last day or so on twitter about not using the lie word, which was really starting to bug me (she had herself so contorted so she wouldn’t use it, she could have joined the circus). I think I understand why people sometimes get out of a fight, and it was everything to do with mental preservation. Sometimes people need to quiet themselves for a moment so they can regroup and recharge, but still carry on the fight but from a different position. Getting into the fight is not for everyone, sometimes I’ve questioned those around me about why they didn’t get into a particular fight we were engaged in. I can no longer question people about why they don’t get into a fight. Fighting is mentally tough and it can consume you, it can have you seeing enemies where none exist. I’m just thinking out loud, and I might not be making any sort of sense so just bear with me while I mentally work some things out.

Good Morning All!
This morning my Mom is in the hospital after her blood pressure shot up like crazy and she experienced a lot of chest and abdominal pain. She’s stable now, thankfully, and undergoing tests. I know she’s in good hands though. She’s being treated by the same wonderful nurses and doctors who saved and cared for me last year. Lots of extra tight hugs going on today.

IMO on the Culture of Cruelty (consumed w/tongues hanging out):
Before leaving again may I say something about the You’re Fired! culture we’ve embraced via ‘American Idol’, ‘Voice’, ‘Dancing with the Stars’,
‘Bachelor’, ‘Lost’ survivor (or whatever it is) etc. The most terrible I’ve seen is the ‘Top Chef for Kids’. The sight of 2 little sisters clinging to each
other and sobbing as the Judge chooses which one will survive, and the other kicked off the show, will stay with me for a long time.
The American people spectate from their armchairs fears and anxieties of participants & then watch how they react when they get the chop.
Compete…then get cut in front of millions. I see this as a precursor to something even more sinister.
Today Trump’s thuggery is making children’s lives expendable via SS-style ICE who watch Moms and babies scream with terror as they are forcibly separated, futures unknown. We know young mammals rely on their parents to survive and are too young to tell what happens when they’re left alone with others.
Here’s what I think: One day when we’re deemed fully compromised it will be “Who Will Live And Who Will Die –VOTE.”
The wealthy will take most of the limited resources and make the rest of us compete to live. Yes more Hunger games. I also see people warehoused wearing virtual reality gizmos for most of their lives. Almost wrote a play decades ago about such concepts. imho:
