This could be any of our children, grandchildren, or – in my case – great grandchildren. It must stop NOW, with the children found, returned to their mothers and fathers, and the Border Patrol and others in the chain of command fully investigated and jailed. Next to trump’s cell.

Can you imagine the pain these parents & families are going through, looking for their children. Disappered by ICE. How is that even possible? How is that ever acceptable in US? My soul is bruised & battered.

I can’t imagine – I know every time I think about it, I want to curl up in a ball and not face the cruel world at that moment. We can’t let this story drop – even ONE NIGHT without their parents is incredibly hurtful for these children, as we both know.

Thanks J’OB for sharing these tweets. As a parent who has experience a loss of a child, I just couldn’t hold back the tears thinking about what these children and their parents are going through after they are separated. Why does ICE behave like the Nazi GESTAPO? It’s really sickening to see how the government of a country, which prides itself for being a beacon for freedom and human dignity, condoning the inhumane policy of separating children from their parents, just because they are immigrants. What’s more ironic is that this inhumane policy of separating immigrant children from their parents is promoted by a government headed by a man who married, and had four children with, two immigrant wives.

So sorry for your loss, nath – and obviously you understand fully what’s going on here. Of course, none of us with hearts can really understand how these haters can act like this toward children and toward immigrants … except that they do not understand the term “human dignity” because they are hollow and empty inside. And we all shudder to think that our government is now headed by a monster. I think we can also see in Melania’s eyes how he has treated all three of his wives, even the non-immigrant. He’ll meet his Maker some day and it won’t be pretty.

Hugs to you, sir, and I hope you have a good Memorial Day weekend.

Trump’s psychopathy and contempt for human life of any age is clearly on display.
The “loss” of 1500 children is enough to finish the leader of a democratic nation. 60 Minutes and real media should not run ANYTHING ELSE but the investigation into ICE and Trump’s utter disregard for children and their parents. Imagine if this were happening under any other President! This disgusting outcome of Trump’s policies should end all things Trump and his collaborators. And when his sexploitation of the underage comes out the real journalists will be glad they followed this grisly trail.

      May 26, 2018 at 12:40 pm

Certain losses are hard to explain, the loss of a parent is one of them. My greatest joy in life was my mother and father holding my newborn son. One year after my son was born my mother passed away. Five years later my father passed away, but before he passed away my son and I went to visit him. He was in bad health at the time and he could barely walk. My father mustered up enough strength to take my son for a walk. We were a sight to behold, my father was leaning on me while at the same time holding my son’s hand as all of us walked around his neighborhood. As my son and I were packing up to leave, my father once again found the strength to stand up and walk us to the car. I told my dad to take it easy and he didn’t have to walk us outside. But my dad insisted, as we got in the car to leave for the last my father looked me in the eye and told me how happy he was. He died a couple of months later. I cannot imagine the sense of lost a parent must feel at seeing their children being taken away by strangers. What have we become as a nation when this becomes our policy, as well as our legacy?

      • May 26, 2018 at 12:44 pm

It’s for us to remind each other, as you have just eloquently done, of who most of us are. And then, to do everything we possibly can to ensure our legacy is that we crushed evil rather than acquiescing to it.

        Thank you Don.

        • 57 Don
          May 26, 2018 at 12:48 pm

What hurts the most is that these children are the most vulnerable, they can’t defend themselves. If you have the power to make policy, how does best and deepest thinking lead you to the conclusion that taking a child away from their parents is a sound policy?

      • May 26, 2018 at 12:48 pm

        You just choked me up.

Trump has done many horrific things. This barbarity of separating families, all with a vile sense of deep self-satisfaction, is absolutely horrifying. AND THEN this morning he tries to blame the policy on DEMOCRATS. The gaslighting is another layer of the abuse, the psy opps we are all suffering from.

Trump signed executive orders Friday making it easier to fire federal workers, cutting union powers. https://abcn.ws/2ILl64l

    • 70 jacquelineoboomer
      May 26, 2018 at 10:04 pm

I worked for the federal government for 30 years (for the Department of the Navy as a civilian), and I can assure you that most proudly work there with great esprit de corps because it is FOR THEIR COUNTRY. (And nobody talked politics, I kid you not, because it was technically forbidden by law!) Federal unions actually have very little power, because they can’t strike and they can’t negotiate pay rates.

Way back in the George H.W. Bush presidency (I detested him then), the Federal Employees Pay Comparability Act (FEPCA) was supposed to address alleviating the fact that the largest percentage of federal workers (people that include scientists, engineers, computer programmers, janitors, secretaries, and a gazillion other occupations) are paid far less for the types of work they do, than in the private sector. That can be waived “for the exigencies of the government” and (at least as I recall), it was always more or less waived. The good thing was that certain locality pay rates were begun for high-cost areas (like the major cities and D.C., etc.). Here’s how they got around the original reason for the act (per Wiki):

“Although FEPCA provides for an automatic formula to determine the annual pay raise, this formula has been ignored due to the cost of implementation. The President has authority under FEPCA to submit an ‘alternative’ pay plan with a lower raise than that called for by the FEPCA formula (or none at all) ‘if because of national emergency or serious economic conditions affecting the general welfare’ [5 U.S.C. §5303(b)(1)]. In reality, the final pay raise has been decided by Congress, which may authorize higher or lower increases than what were originally requested by the President in his annual budget submissions.”

What I’m getting at is that trump and his gang are so INCREDIBLY STUPID that they don’t realize big chunks of qualified, experienced federal workers – especially in today’s world, where employees are much more mobile than in my baby boomer generation, where you tried to get a job that would guarantee a retirement plan and thus stayed for 1,000 years – can just go get a job in private industry MAKING A HIGHER SALARY, if you push them too far. That’s another thing clueless trump doesn’t understand and doesn’t care about, because he’ll be gone once he soaks as much money as he can out of his own “federal pay” (so why actually learn anything about the federal government), OR IS JAILED, the latter of which is my greatest hope.

      Sorry for the rant.

      A Proud Federal Retiree

Thanks, J’OB for your righteous “rant.” You absolutely told the truth. I have a very close friend whose son-in-law works for the federal government. He told me that his son-in-law, who is in his early 40s, is now looking for a job in the private sector because the work atmosphere, under the Trump administration, is so toxic.

        • 72 jacquelineoboomer
          May 27, 2018 at 2:24 pm

So sad. Even these “institutions” are being lost. And the federal government is giving JOBS to gazillions of people, across the country, not all of whom may be able to find new work in the private sector.

      • 73 Beaglemom
        May 27, 2018 at 11:20 am

I don’t think that the Trump administration wants there to be any federal employees. The GOP’s ultimate dream in the twenty-first century is to have a minuscule federal government. Why? I haven’t a clue but they seem to want someone like Pruitt to wander the halls of the EPA all alone while the country he and others like him is finally consumed by the deadly effects of climate change.

        • 74 jacquelineoboomer
          May 27, 2018 at 2:22 pm

Yep. Pretty sure there are around 200,000 civilian employees of the U.S. Navy alone. Multiply that by all the other federal agencies and departments. Their work is augmented by contractors from private companies. If trump and the RWNJs can figure out a way to privatize the federal government workforce (think: prisons), think of how much cash could get into the pockets of his buddies who own private enterprises. Or he could just rename the whole system the trump org. and not pay anybody. Gag.

They’ll fight back and block you on twitter (or before that via return e-mails), if you aren’t giving them attaboys and attagirls every damn day. I recall Jake Tapper and Chuck Todd acted the same way before they got their TV shows. Anyway, ol’ Maggie cannot stand anything other than glory. So, I thought I’d let her know she is the one who’s being unrealistic! If I could have used more characters, I would have added, “Love, Granny.” But then again I don’t love her, either! Ha.
