What a beautiful, intimate, modern, warm, lovely, and joyful wedding ceremony. I LOVED how Meghan Markle brought the bountiful glory of black culture and history front and center. Wishing the lovely couple a long and happy marriage.

NW, I loved this wedding. Beautifully done! The music, performances, Rev. Curry! And being a little frivolous, I loved Mama Meghan’s hat, out of hats. She looked absolutely gorgeous, & the extra classy actions given to her. Of note, when they went off to sign register, Charles took her hand. And, Lawdy, those little kids were amazing! ❤

The Black haters are still not satisfied. Lots of hate about there not being any Black relatives there other than her mom. Why they mad; there were no white relatives there at all. No matter what one does, haters are going to hate. I had to tell one of my sisters not to text me negative shit about Meghan that she gets from the awful online gossip sites. People who try to throw shade etc. just need to take a seat.

Thank you so much NW for capturing this fabulous essence of this Royal Wedding, which exposed to the world the dignity, spiritual depth and beauty of Black Culture.

Yep, I loved it, I also remember hearing it when President Obama visited a European country early in his administration. I forget which country it was, it was so loud and beautiful and stirring. It was like an entire continent calling out.

For all of those pundits who talked for days about what Meghan would have to give up or about her bowing to all of the centuries old traditions of the royal family have gotten their answer. She always said that she was proud of who she is and this ceremony showed the world that she meant what she said. Her clothing featured the new world that she is a part of, but also that she is carrying her native one with her . Furthermore, Harry knew who she was, loved her for being so and married her to have everything that she is as part of his life to be instilled in any children that they have.

This wedding is a bight spot in another miserable week of life in this country. We needed a few hours of respite, of positivity and possibilities before turning our attention once again to the daily chaos and tragedy. Some folks on Twitter are so self-righteous and small minded that they are spreading hate about us not dealing in death and misery every minute. Real life is the daily juxtaposition of joy and sorrow.

  17. May 19, 2018 at 1:52 pm

Harry was near tears at various points during the ceremony.

      CNN had some funny moments.

Anderson Cooper was so excited about Harry waving to him during the carriage ride that the rest of the crew teased him, including Don Lemon.

When they came out to that ’68 Jaguar in that picture above, Don joked “I hate them!”

There’s another great picture of them in this TL that shows their kiss at the top of the church steps from behind. They call it an “important photo”, maybe because you can see the family behind them in the bottom of the frame, and Doria is just behind Meghan with her dreadlocks silhouetted.

I’ve watched parts of the Royal Wedding again and again throughout the day (and saw much of it live), and am still watching my second go-around of Bishop Curry’s love message, crying soft tears of joy all the way. Although he wasn’t able to finish it, my son gave my grandson a “message” for him to post for his dad’s friends and other family members after he’d passed away, as part of his goodbye – which he’d prepared himself for, over the last several years (from the time he was first being diagnosed). While that seems sad, my son had more courage and love and joy in him than anybody I’ve ever known, I kid you not! Here’s what he wrote about love, so I’m thinking he’d really appreciate Bishop Curry’s words – which I’ll also cherish, as part of this year of learning:

“I have been preparing for the worst since 2014 so I am good with whatever they find and the prognosis. Since then, I have made my way back to Jesus, spent a lot of time teaching my teenage son everything I could about life and share a father’s wisdom and love. Love, that’s the whole point to this human thing. A true miracle of the universe. All of creation is for one thing. For love! We are all already together in eternity. No matter what your faith is in, this is true. I just want all of you to know that I love you. I try to love everyone. Pass it around. Love. Love. Love loving love. Pass it on!!”

How lucky are we! Just one other small reason why my second-oldest granddaughter bought herself a ring to wear that’s inscribed, “I love my father.” And, not to ruin it for anyone who hasn’t watched the wedding yet, I’m also listening to this song from my generation, all day – and I know we all loved it!

I’m glad you asked, because the precedent was set when Robert Novak and Scotty Libby under the direction of Darth Cheney outed C.I.A. agent Valerie Plame’s identity. So if the outing of a C.I.A. agent wasn’t enough to dissuade someone from leaking that type of ultra sensitive information, well then the leaking of an FBI Informant’s identity being leaked is small bananas. Yes it is treasonous and unlawful and down right dangerous.

You know, I really don’t know what’s the big deal about White Castle burgers. I mean they’re okay, and I guess its cute to sit and eat a dozen of them in one sitting, but truthfully I’m not feeling all the attraction. At best they are a poor man’s slider. And another thing, I’m getting burnt out on Facebook. I could care less if some guy in knew in high school and haven’t seen since high school caught a really big fish. This fucking guy kept sending me a friend request and I friended him back and now I can’t get away from the fucking guy. I don’t fish, it doesn’t appeal to me, and god bless you if it does. I don’t care about you fishing, I don’t care about your boat, I don’t care if you climbed a mountain and I don’t care if you work at the gym.

    • 106 Don
      May 20, 2018 at 11:48 am

And now every time the guy sees me on Facebook he wants to have a conversation, and I’m forced to have a conversation with this guy. So now I have to hide when I’m on Facebook. I’m a grown ass man and I have to hide from some guy that I barely knew in high school that thinks me and him are long lost friends.

Its bad enough that my wife friended me on Facebook and now I have read every thing she sends me, every thing from politics to soup recipes. I’m sure it would be rude of me to unfriend my own wife, but I need peace and quiet when I’m on Facebook.

    • May 20, 2018 at 1:51 pm

The thing that finally convinced me to quit Facebook after two weeks, among many, many, many other things, was reading about this guy’s every single move every day: now I’m going to work, this is my lunch, here I am eating a banana snack, now I’m bike riding, time to go grocery shopping, guess I should go to bed, just got a haircut, this is my morning coffee, blah blah blah blah blah. OMG, SHUT UP.

I wonder one way to change the heats and minds re:guns …. is to set up a fund where every gun owner has to contribute money … which is used to pay the funeral or hospital bills of everyone who is shot and killed or injured. Everytime money gets spent, donors should get a ‘thank you’ card in the mail. So that it is a constant reminder …
    Just my rant.
