Good Morning Dudette! Watching #AMJoy (and yes, #IStandWithJoy) and amazed that some people are more upset about last night’s comedy routine by Michelle Wolf (that I though AMAZING) than are by last night’s crazy and divisive speech by #Trump in Michigan.

President Barack Obama in Japan March 25, 2018:

I enjoy now the ability to spend much more time with Michelle who is extraordinary. And when I was President, we were often both so busy that we didn’t always have time to enjoy each other’s company and have quiet moments. And we do now, and that is very precious.

Yes indeed, DF! Michelle Wolf used comedy to expose the lies of the Trumpists and the complicit of the so called mainstream media in allowing Trump and his sycophants to get away with lying without consequences. For example, why are they always booking Kellyanne Conway to appear on their shows to lie with impunity?

But as I told folks after 9/11, people the world over are subject to torture and mayhem everyday. Why a “fake” Democrat when we had a REAL progressive in Al Franken. I would rather have a lifelong Democrat than a lifelong Republican take that seat. When Trump is impeached does he flip and become a Republican? No thanks.

          • 62 jacquelineoboomer
            April 30, 2018 at 11:04 pm

Totally get that. And he’s running against the Dem woman who took Al Franken’s place (sorry – forget her name), so she may get it. But he’s given up being a Republican because of trump, and is now a more national figure than “only” being a Bush ethics lawyer, with a prominent anti-trump voice. He also absolutely did not want Franken to resign without a full investigation – on principle not because he feels he isn’t guilty, but because he feels he got railroaded out while many others like trump did not, and that irks him immensely. But, again, although your take is totally valid and I’d be 100% with you in a normal environment, if he gets it over a current trump-loving Republican, I’m in.

This is probably a mean remark, but I am sure trump was not thrilled with Macron’s gift of a tree. First, he doesn’t care about trees, second, he had to look foolish using a shovel to help with the planting, and third this was a way to get back at Macron for his speech to Congress.

Remarkable Indeed, J’OB; especially for people in our age group. But then again, this what this country has been all about. Each generation has contributed and enriched its history. As a student of history, I was reflecting on the historical changes that have taken place that we now take for granted. For Example: in the 1850’s the anti-immigrant people formed a new party, which became known as the “Know Nothing Party.” The central goal of the “Know Nothing Party” (which the members called the American Party) was to stop the immigration of Catholics to the United States because it wanted to preserve the White Anglo-Saxon Protestant heritage of the United States. The “Know Nothing Party” was absolutely convinced that Catholic immigrants would destroy the United States because they owed their allegiance to the Pope in Rome. In the 1920s, the resurgent KKK added Jews and Catholics to Blacks, as the groups out to destroy America. Today, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, third in line in presidential succession, is Catholic. Six members of the U.S. Supreme Court are Catholic, and the the other three are Jewish. And, we just had a remarkable Black President for 8 years. You would think that by now religious and racial bigots would have learned a lesson about demonizing people who don’t look like them or share identical religious beliefs and practices, but who, nevertheless, have contributed to building this country.

I´m old enough to remember in 1961 getting a pamphlet at church which said not to vote for JFK because he would answer to the Pope. It was printed by the publishing arm of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Yes Indeed, Sara. And JFK, the first, and the only Catholic President will go down in history is one the best presidents. It’s so sad that his life was cut short by an assassin.

It was a stupid idea anyway. Why do they need the President of the United States to entertain them and get roasted? The only thing that the GOP will accept is roasting Democrats or a church choir (of THEIR choice) to attend in the future. Why don’t they just roast each other and be done with it. It was only funny when PBO was the invited guest and roasted because it made them seem cool.

When the Obama Administration was working on the details of the Iran Agreement Nut-n-Yahoo was saying Iran was 99% in getting a nuclear weapon which now we know they were not. Now the Trump Treasonous Administration wants Iran to stop destabilizing the region by joining up with Assad and Putin or we will scrap the agreement and impose sanctions so we can bomb you and destabilize the whole region ourselves. I hope the DEMs will run on iQ45 and the GOP allowing Iran to get a nuclear weapon while taking credit for NK while they already HAVE a nuclear weapon. I don’t see NK getting rid of their nukes.

The moment we drop a nuclear bomb on Iran, every country that isn’t run by homicidal manic will team up against the United States of America. You had best believe that other countries have war rooms and are planning for every contingency if we decide to go nuclear.
