Ah, that tweet brought back so many wonderful memories. The hosts for our Easter friend brunch put a sign on the front door: Yay! Trump resigned! We all had our hopes up for a second until it dawned on us this was a cruel April Fool’s joke..

Yep they are pretty hard to swallow. I go between- trying to see they’re on the right side now and recognizing they have some sense & decency AND not being able to forget how they did not support a good and fine President Obama & pushing the rightwing bs along for years. I’m thinking of Steve Schmidt in particular who brought us the likes of Palin- but now has a soul. It’s hard some days.

I hope it’s not the Doctor Jekyll, Mr Hyde thing. I think Jennifer Rubin, Bill Kristol, David Frum, Steve Schmidt, Nicole Wallace and Richard Painter are well spoken and definitely able to clearly characterize Trump in all his indecency and treason, but I am not sure if they are woke. I just don’t think so. I guess we have to take what help we can get to get back on the right track but I personally only trust someone’s conversion when they can honestly own up to the harm they have done in the past. Their inability to admit the treatment of PBO and to acknowledge the incredible work our president (Barack) did for our country and for each of us leaves me with grave doubts.

So I love April Fool’s, today I texted my whole family that Trump resigned… couldn’t fool my youngest as he’s upstairs and he figured I’d be screaming and running through my house if it were true. Did get my middle son, woohoo. Although this is a rather unkind April Fool’s trick, I admit. We’ll see if I fooled the rest of them 🙂

Watching Jesus Christ Super star on NBC. I remember how US “Christians” los their minds even before it hit the stage in this country. 40 years later after and it is part of our pop culture and produced everywhere. Strangest thing so far: Norm Jewison as Caiaphas wearing corn rows.

I saw something on Morning Joe that turned my stomach. I went on Twitter and responded to Deadspin that showed us how Sinclair group made their news outlets say the exact same thing. Frightening! Here is my post to my local station (WJLA)

If anyone else wants to let their local station know that you don’t like them parroting this claim, I will like and retweet. We need to let our local media know that we don’t want to lose our democracy to state media. We are not Russia, China etc. I think we need to stand up like the kids around the country. Or we may be looking at a very trumpian future. 😦

Lou Dobbs has been on speaker phone during White House meetings on issue like trade and taxes.
Per @swin24, Trump has even cut off WH officials so Dobbs can get a word in.

Dobbs, these sources all independently recounted, has been patched in to senior-level meetings on issues such as trade and tax policy—meetings that featured officials such as senior policy adviser Stephen Miller, former top economic adviser Gary Cohn, former chief strategist Steve Bannon, trade adviser Peter Navarro, and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin.

Oh, oh. I thought we elected a savvy business president, one who knew how the economy and market worked, the best DEALER with STRONG financial opinion about tariffs and trades.
Fresh shock waves hit U.S. markets after Trump tweets criticize Amazon, China steps up trade war

The Dow Jones industrial average plunged more than 500 points Monday as technology companies came under fire and fears grew about a trade war with China. The Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index was down 2.4 percent, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite was down 2.9 percent as volatility continues to rock markets.

Trump’s promise of tariffs on products including steel, aluminum, tech goods and fruit have infused the financial markets with fresh volatility.
All three indexes are now negative for the year and are in correction territory. A correction is generally considered a 10 percent drop from its peak.

Zinke’s Interior Dept Disproportionately Reassigned Native American Workers
    By Alice Ollstein | April 2, 2018 6:00 am

Nearly a third of the senior Interior Department (DOI) career officials reassigned under Secretary Ryan Zinke in a major agency reshuffling are Native American, even though Native Americans make up less than 10 percent of the Department’s workforce, a review by TPM has found.

The finding comes days after Democratic lawmakers demanded an investigation into whether Zinke discriminated when he reassigned 33 career officials last summer, and follows on reports that Zinke has repeatedly told DOI officials he doesn’t care about diversity — which prompted one member of Congress to accuse Zinke of working to create a “lily-white department.”

Former government officials tell TPM that they see the reassignment of top Native American staffers as part of an effort to remove internal opposition to Zinke’s plan to open up more tribal and public lands to the fossil fuel industry.

If we as a country don’t go full on in March, strike and activism mode when/ if Putin gets welcomed to our White House, then I don’t know what’s next for us.

Also- how long will it take for these tariffs to have an effect at the grocery store, or will it? I keep imaging Russia’s food lines & if that’s whats in store for many of us, should these people continue to run our govt.

Of course I have many, many more concerns- but that’s my two for this morning.

A former Sinclair journalist sent me a screenshot of their contract. “I couldn’t leave because of this part of my contract.”

Sinclair gets money damages from the employee if the employee quits rather than read propaganda. 40% of annual salary plus a multiplier in certain situations.

Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lebanon, and York, PA
Sinclair currently owns and operates the Harrisburg station WHP (CBS 21) and is set to acquire the York station WPMT (Fox 43) in its pending purchase of Tribune Media. In a recent filing with the FCC, Sinclair identified the Harrisburg local media market as one of 10 markets in which the Tribune merger would push Sinclair above the current FCC ownership caps — meaning it may have to sell one of the two largest stations. If Sinclair were to sell WHP or WPMT in order to comply with the FCC rules — at least as they are currently written — it could still theoretically enter into an agreement with the new owner to continue operating both stations. That means there’s a good chance a Harrisburg-area viewer tuning into a top local news station would find a Sinclair-controlled newscast, just as the state of Pennsylvania gears up for competitive gubernatorial, Senate, and congressional races in 2018

If my memory serves me correctly, I think Al Franken was also at the forefront of the pushback AGAINST this merger even happening as well last year before he was pushed out. Both aggravating and enraging to put it mildly if this merger could have been stopped in its tracks. Now it’s like trying to get the cat back in the bag. Yet another piece of our democracy under assault by the GOP thugs.
