Russia expels US diplomats and shuts consulate

Russia is to expel 60 US diplomats and has ordered the closure of the US consulate in St. Petersburg, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Thursday, in retaliation for a similar move by Washington.

Lavrov, making the announcement in Moscow, said the US ambassador Jon Huntsman had been summoned to the Foreign Ministry to be told of the decision.

The US expelled 60 diplomats on Monday as part of a coordinated global response to the poisoning of a former Russian double agent, Sergei Skripal, and his daughter, Yulia Skripal, in Britain.

It’s always interesting how when a conservative talk show host losses advertisers that they all of a sudden find common ground and in some cases Jesus when advertisers bail. Now we can add Laura Ingram’s name to that list after several of her advertisers bailed on her after she attacked David Hogg.

Just because a laugh a day is the best medicine: I passed by a building today (the one that took ages to remove POTUS44 & VPPOTUS44 framed photos from their lobby), they put a huge US flag instead of 45 photos! 😂😂 That made my day. Respect for one of my fav agencies! ❤

      March 30, 2018 at 1:29 pm

Yes sadly that is exactly what it means. Another lifetime appointment to further eff up our judicial system and particularly our 9th Cir which was out in the forefront in terms of beating back Tiny Hands “travel ban” among other things. And in a six degrees of separation connection, Judge Reinhardt is/was a client of our wealth management firm. His wife was for the former director of the So Cal ACLU. They were both strong fighters of the good fight. It is enraging that he will be replaced by some OVERLY UNQUALIFIED RW legal hack.

At Trump’s heart he is a businessman, everything he does is about business and trying to get more of it. The guy wants to build hotels and golf courses and that’s about it. What does he care about an immigrant’s history on social media, I don’t think he does really. At best Trump is a useful idiot, at worst he serves as a mouthpiece for a more sinister element that wants to know the social media history of immigrants. I think something else is going on here, and it is more dangerous than some guy that occasionally enjoys the company of a porn star.

Meet Trump’s New, Homophobic Public Health Quack
The Centers for Disease Control will soon be run by a military doctor with a long history of pushing discriminatory AIDS policies.
    BY LAURIE GARRETT | MARCH 23, 2018, 4:37 PM

The extraordinarily disruptive turnover in the Trump administration’s senior staff has officially reached the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The White House, having already cycled through one CDC director, has named its second: Robert Redfield, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and former University of Maryland opioids and AIDS researcher.

He is exactly the wrong person for the job. Amid an exploding influenza epidemic across the United States, an opioids crisis that has decreased the statistical life expectancy of Americans, and a budget crisis that twice compelled closure of critical laboratory and disease-fighting services, the CDC desperately needs a leader who can promise stability and expertise. Redfield represents the opposite; he is someone whose track record in HIV research and public health policy has been a scientific and moral failure.

Pruitt scandal dwarfs Shulkin’s, giving lie to firing excuse

Rachel Maddow points out that the explanation that David Shulkin was fired over his travel scandal doesn’t make sense in light of the administration’s other travel scandals, particularly that of EPA administrator Scott Pruitt, who not only used more taxpayer money but is literally staying in a lobbyist’s house.

I felt safe back then….no worries that we were going to get blown off the map. It felt like the media went to PBO for every ticky tacky issue that had nothing to do with him as President. For years big cities in NY & CA are allowing corporations to build apartments that no one on minimum wage or middle class working people can afford. When rent takes more than half your salary and NO salary increases, working people live in their cars or in shelters. I personally know people who work but live in their cars because they can’t afford rent in my city which is very close to downtown L.A.
