She already squirreled away $25 million of the inaugural money through a friend. Plus the millions that she could get by rating him out. She would have to watch her back and the fact that her son is a minor and only turned 12yrs old this past week. She can’t do anything until he is 18yrs old. Putin is not above killing ex-wives and kids of his enemies.
I don’t find Howard Fineman particularly insightful or trustworthy, so take this with a huge grain of salt. I think Daniels can do lots of damage.
While the news about Bolton is of grave concern, I do not think that we should go into the doomsday thinking and commentary that I have seen all over social media for several reasons: many knew this was coming and there are still things that can be done to keep the worst scenario from coming about, the international community can still be allies in preventing the worst, #45’s very nature and overall incompetence have kept him from being able to get away with the worst of what he wants to do and there is a multi-pronged battle line that is harrying this administration from various positions and stopping or slowing down even more egregious actions. I also feel that most of what is going on is to permit the underlying decay that has plagued this nation to come to the surface and in to the light so that more people are aware of what has stopped us from being a truly great nation. Now that we know, we can fight and we can reset our country. We have long be in a war with few combatants, but the numbers are growing and becoming louder and willing to do more than we ever imagined to cure our nation’s ills and to make it one that lives up to its highest ideals.
Thank you CEB for being a voice of reason & hopefulness – I admit I have been feeling very doomsdayish today. So I appreciate all that you said and see the sense & truth of it.

Happy ACA anniversary! I was one of the lucky ones who was healthy and had a job that paid for all health costs throughout my 30 year employment. I retired before 65 and had to pay directly for my healthcare for the first time, but the good news is that my cost have remained the same in these years prior to reaching Medicare age. Last year, I had extensive and expensive testing, but my overall out-of-pocket expenses were under 1,000$. The cost control (so far) have allowed me to have a good quality of life.

I still can not believe that giving the very, very, very wealthy huge tax cuts is OK with conservative people rather than allowing many people who could never afford to see a doctor, healthcare for sick children, pregnant women, and NO more caps or pre-existing insurance which applies to EVERYONE whether you pay for your own insurance or through your employer.
You have to understand that they hate poor people and anyone else who has need at any time in their lives. In their minds none of us, even those of us who pay taxes, do not deserve the help that we paid for. Only they and those that they deem desirable should have a affordable healthcare and other benefits of a wealthy country that they enjoy. Black and Brown people, liberals/progressives, non-Christians and those who do not express Christianity they way that they do, single women, the working poor, etc. are not worthy in their eyes and so should not have more than the very basic of everything or nothing. Those that they consider “other” should just shut up, suffer in silence, and be thankful for the crumbs they have.
