It is very hard to believe that we have an understanding of the bulk of the mess in the current WH …. eventually we will learn that it is worse than what is in the news … maybe a mole will reveal all

Folks, I’ve just gotta say this….DONALD TRUMP is the white folks embarrassment…I am a black woman 60yrs plus, and in the 8 yrs BARACK OBAMA lead this nation, I was never ever once embarrassed.I know there are white americans in total meltdown over this disgrace in the whitehouse…I work with many of them!!!! How much longer must we endure this farce….continue to just go along with this incompetent ,ignorant ,moron pretending to be THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES….this is truly truly sickening!!!!

ALL of THIS! White folks need to come and get their people. Black people showed up and showed out, battling voters suppression of all kinds in 2016, knowing no one is perfect, but carrying our hopes and fears into the voting booth. We are not showing up in meetings and marching and some of the other activities of the Resistance because much of this mess could have been avoided if people had just gotten up off their asses and voted. When I saw the statistics and how various groups voted and the stats on those who did not or voted for people like Stine, my disgust turned my stomach and had a hold on me for almost a year. We have marched, cried, begged and voted as we buried our family members killed by the state, not allowed our grief and told that our children have less value than those of others. We have fought in every war, built our country’s monuments, made this country rich with our very bodies and through it all held on to the belief that if we worked and studied hard, if we behaved in an acceptable manner and if we cherished that hard won right to vote, then someday we would be seen as equals, Americans who finally and truly have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. But that election day showed us that all of this was a dream that was farther away than some of us thought. So ya’ll resist, while we just try to stay alive.

I hear you and feel your frustration. But don’t let any of that kill your hope for a better day. Remember: PBO used to say that progress in this country is two steps forward, one step backward. Justice and common sense will prevail.

I am white and a committed supporter of Barack Obama. This is the first time I’ve read something that spoke to my condition on this front. I too feel what you’ve described. While I support the resistance I also feel down deep how unnecessary all this would have been had people voted for sanity in 2016. Fecklessness has become a big issue for me and I have become much more aware of how that can change outcomes. Not having Barack Obama’s back was a white thing too and it never ceased to amaze me how that worked during his terms in office.

So now my heart seems to be drawn toward maintaining the respect, empower, include perspective in everything I do civically and also gearing up for when we take up our work where we left off. I feel like reviewing all the work of the Obama administration like the Jobs Bill and the immigration reform bills and starting on them again as soon as possible. Same with health care. Taking the next steps in the valuable work we had started in all issue areas is what’e been on my mind.

White House adviser and First Daughter Ivanka Trump is reportedly under investigation by FBI counterintelligence officials for her role in a brokering a deal for a Trump hotel in Canada.

Former and current US officials told CNN that the FBI is probing the Trump International Hotel and Tower Vancouver “to determine whether any of those deals could leave them vulnerable to pressure from foreign agents, including China.”

    Hi Lynn 🙂

I thought that after so many states who elected “celebrity” governors who fucked up the states and embarrassed the entire state, i.e. Minnesota & California….that people would see that putting someone that inexperienced should NOT run state government and should NOT run our entire country. That put a stupid inexperienced part-time Texan governor in the WH and saw how fucked up that was so like someone said up thread, this is NOT the fault of African Americans. We knew he was going to fuck up badly and we would pay dearly.

Oh and face it, she’ll probably cash in: book deal, interviews, maybe a nice plea bargain in there somewhere (that would be great, actually!). But the best part is prez clownstick treated her like crap when he wasn’t faux loving her. You KNOW HE DID. That’s what he does to everyone. It is reported that he berated her and told her “How could you be SO STUPID” after her testimony.

This seems hopeful. I still believe in Hope ❤

"It is hard to focus on this trend at a moment when Republicans have full control of government, and are heading into an election where gerrymandering gives them a large advantage in maintaining Congress. But this fact runs headlong against a much longer deterioration of the conservative position within the electorate. Many conservatives supported Trump precisely because they were panicked about this trend. So far, Trump is merely accelerating the demise they feared."

(Reuters) – A former Obama administration official on Thursday reached a deal to purchase assets of The Weinstein Company and said she will use a majority-female board to rebuild the Hollywood studio tarnished by sexual misconduct allegations.

Former Small Business Administration chief Maria Contreras-Sweet plans to launch a new company, save about 150 jobs, protect the small companies that are owed money, and create a victims’ compensation fund that will supplement existing insurance coverage for those who have been harmed, she said in a statement.

“This next step represents the best possible pathway to support victims and protect employees,” Contreras-Sweet said.

Melania Trump obtained US citizenship on a visa reserved for immigrants with “extraordinary ability” and “sustained national and international acclaim”, according to a report in the Washington Post.

Nicknamed the “Einstein Visa”, the EB-1 is in theory reserved for people who are highly acclaimed in their field – the government cites Pulitzer, Oscar, and Olympic winners as examples – as well as respected academic researchers and multinational executives.

Mrs Trump began applying for the visa in 2000, when she was Melania Knauss, a Slovenian model working in New York and dating Donald Trump. She was approved in 2001, one of just five people from Slovenia to win the coveted visa that year, according to the Post.

Becoming a citizen in 2006 gave her the right to sponsor her parents, Viktor and Amalija Knavs, who are now in the US and in the process of applying for citizenship.

The reports of how Mrs Trump obtained her EB-1 visa will rankle with some, at a time when her husband is railing against immigrants and attempting to scrap the right of new citizens to sponsor family members. And questions have been raised about her suitability for the extraordinary ability category.
