Hello, Dudette 😉
Congrats on your Au ⭐
Thank you ever so much, NW for your hard work and your endless, tireless support for all TODbots.
GE, TODville community.
❤ you always, TODbots 😉
I’m honestly gobsmacked that the President just used a forum with gun violence survivors to pimp the @NRA’s priority legislation and to suggest arming teachers. Law enforcement are universally opposed to passing Concealed Carry Reciprocity. The NRA has tried to pass for 20 years.
Hey Dudette! I could not bring myself to watch #45’s photo op fake listening session with hand-picked students. Did anyone take one for our team and see it? Tomorrow, Oregon is poised to pass a bill to close the “dating partner loophole” and prevent stalkers/domestic violence abusers from buying or keeping guns. I am slogging through snow in the morning to join a carpool to watch the vote.
I am beyond disgusted by the fact that the students of Parkland have been forced to come forward and tell the media that they are not "crisis actors". What the hell is going on?
You know who the real crisis actors are? Sen Hannity, Donald Trump Jr., Alex Jones & all of 4Chan
Thinking of and praying for the daughters of #MalcolmX today, the 53rd anniversary of the day he was assassinated. He was a leader to millions, an activist, a prolific speaker, and a man of great faith and transformation. To them, he was father. #BettyShabazz#BlackHistoryMonthpic.twitter.com/9Ry5XmEfcr
Marjory Stoneman Douglas student Alfonso Calderon: "Trust me. I understand. I was in a closet, locked for 4 hours with people who I would consider almost family, crying and weeping on me, begging for their lives. I understand what it is like to text my parents goodbye." (via CBS) pic.twitter.com/APlHok201e
The NRA thinking: "They're just kids. They'll get all excited about their proms or their Facebook walls or something; maybe some new singer or fashion trend. Don't worry. They'll forget." Not this time.
Seeing these incredible high school students speaking out and taking immediate action for gun control is the only truly encouraging thing I’ve seen in this country since that time we had a real president.
Perfect letter. What comes to mind is the complete corruption and sociopathology of the man that received this. Talk about falling on deaf ears. That is not the point. This letter was sent and so noted. The NRA is simply an arms dealer lobbying group at this point so in fact the idea that mass killings are disturbing only seems to help them market more in the aftermath. So we need to vote out those that take money from this organization or do their bidding and then monster LaPierre can try but he won’t hurt us anymore.
How can they forget losing loved ones and witnessing such bloodshed? This is something they’ll live with for the rest of their lives. I’ll never forget this and I wasn’t at that school.
I was contacted on Facebook by a teacher from Stoneman Douglas High in Florida. She would love it if her students had letters of support when they return. Please send to:

Seeing & hearing descriptions like this helps to understand what I saw while I was enjoying the movie. I really want to see it again now armed with this information.
Parkland students, you have shown so much courage in standing up for truth, for your right to attend school safely, & now against these disgusting smears. The good news is, it will only make you louder & stronger. https://t.co/yclbV9i2UX
Hillary Clinton speaks from a place of experience. The same can be said by the Obamas. They thought they could silence these people through disgusting smears and cheating on elections. Only made us louder and stronger.
Tonight, the nation will hear first-hand the #StonemanDouglas shooting survivors’ stories. It’s time for Congress to show as much courage as these teens. Let’s make sure this never happens to another school. #CNNTownHall#NeverAgain
Hey @realdonaldtrump – heard your "schedule" precludes you from attending the #CNNTownHall you were invited to (even via satellite feed). Guess the only "listening" you had time for today was that of a pre-screened, hand-picked selection of ppl willing to praise you.
Dear NRA, “I hear you” And so do the people speaking tonight who know the NRA just stated they won’t raise the age limit to buy an AR-15. These kids are going to tear the NRA apart! I’m a gun owner but very ashamed of the NRA.#ParklandStudentsSpeak#CNNTownHall#AlisynCamerotapic.twitter.com/MBxJVBlg9Q
Sheriff Scott Israel takes the stage early on, asks MSDH students to stand, to applause. You are intelligent and articulate, praises them for their outspokenness. #CNNTownHall
We should be having town halls about how to fund public schools so that students are better educated it shouldn’t take a town hall to figure out how to keep students from being shot while at school. #PrayForParkland#CNNTownHall
Florida should be extremely proud of their high school students. I always tell my teens that it's their generation who will change the world. These teens are proving that. #CNNTownHall
You can’t even buy Sudafed without practically supplying a blood sample & if you buy more than 9 you’ll almost certainly get a visit from the cops. But you can buy as many firearms as you want and nobody blinks an eye because “muh guns.” That is some messed up sh*t. #CNNTownHall
Any person who compares a white ethnonationalist Trump supporter to children who survived a mass shooting is a vile piece of shit pic.twitter.com/oU7kmKFetC
I’m in total awe of the extraordinary students in Florida. Like every movement for progress in our history, gun reform will take unyielding courage and endurance. But @barackobama and I believe in you, we’re proud of you, and we’re behind you every step of the way.

In 2018 the percentage of NRA members voting who oppose banning AR-15s will be around 2 percent of the overall electorate. In 2020, 1.5 percent. We can do this.
Morning everyone. This would be a start, and we can go from here. Anything else is unacceptable.
The assault weapons ban was effective. When the ban was in place, the number of gun massacres fell by 37 percent. The number of people dying from gun massacres fell by 43 percent. Republicans blocked an extension of the ban. We're fighting to reinstate it. #StudentsStandUp
Human rights group Amnesty International has accused Donald Trump of “hateful” politics and of being a threat to human rights.
“President Trump takes actions that violate human rights at home and abroad,” the group said.
Amnesty put Mr Trump in the same group as the leaders of Egypt, Russia, China, the Philippines, and Venezuela.
The organisation was launching its annual report, staging the event in Washington for the first time.
“The spectres of hatred and fear now loom large in world affairs, and we have few governments standing up for human rights in these disturbing times,” said Salil Shetty, head of Amnesty.
“Instead, leaders such as al-Sisi, Duterte, Maduro, Putin, Trump and Xi are callously undermining the rights of millions,” referring to the leaders of Egypt, the Philippines, Venezuela, Russia, the US and China.
The @NRA is issuing ultimatums to candidates. "Toe the line or else." If the NRA is doing this in Wisconsin, then you KNOW that they're doing it all over the country!! #NRAIsATerroristOrganization
Turning schools into literal military battlegrounds and war zones is the most hideous and simplistic Fox thing Trump could say. Maybe next he'll suggest building walls around them all with barbed wire and a watchtower. UGH. https://t.co/SM3mDUQNqG
We parents know this feeling well. For me, it moved into their adolescence, when I would not feel safe and able to sleep peacefully unless my children were home and safe in their beds.
I know that feeling. It has to be translated into votes and then actions. https://t.co/4VLm7ifjaU
I still don’t understand the fascination for guns. I believe that unless one is living in a cave at least 200 miles away from the closest human being then there is no need for the general public to own a gun. Unless you are in law enforcement or security.
I read somewhere that at a NRA meeting which had Trump attending as well, other attendees couldn’t bring their guns into the room. Irony.
Ppl talk about gun reforms .. but how about banning guns altogether? I know everyone’s focus is on schools … Keeping kids safe, but how about keeping everyone safe – thinking of the LV shooting. The NRA twit was pointing out that the shooter was visited 39 times … but what if guns were never available in the first place. I recall meeting a couple of Texans while I was on holiday in Paris a few years ago. They weren’t shy to boast about owning guns, listening to that just made me shudder.
To think you couldn’t bring water past security at the airport. But walking around with guns is ok. I shake my head.
Luckily my son is in his senior hs year… but if I still had kids attending school- there is no damn way on this earth they would attend any school where teachers had guns. Period. As it is, I have advised my son not to attend any college in this country where guns are allowed on campus, in bars or if it’s a open carry state. All of these ideas, imo are foolish & troubling. This country is lucky I’m not in charge, because all of the guns would have been melted down by now ;).
Instead of visiting @realDonaldTrump at the White House while in Washington, the Warriors "selected a venue in which local kids would join them." https://t.co/jPY0rBae8E

I wanted to buy a product from an american company and provided fuckton of details about my company in their website ‘enquiry form’. About 15 minutes back, after 10 hours of my enquiry, a sales guy comes back to me with a redenculous excel file asking again for my company details. I replied to him that these details are already in my signature, which were anyway provided in their ‘enquiry form’ already. Five minutes back.
him: I will still need the excel worksheet filled out and returned as well.
me: Tom, I am not jumping through your hoops just to get a quote. Thanks for your time.
Just curious, how much exactly is a fuckton of details? Oh and can the measurement be provided in American measurement, you know? Dollars instead of pounds, miles instead of kilometers, that sort of thing.
President Barack Obama is returning to Boston tomorrow to take part in the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference at the Seaport District’s Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
20% of teachers = 700,000 armed teachers. There's no training for stopping an assault weapon with a concealable handgun (which is the least accurate firearm). https://t.co/Q0gxV3uPLd
"Much less cost." So Trump's teacher-cops wouldn't be paid for the cop part of their jobs. We now have 800,000 cops in USA. Trump wants 700,000 free teacher-cops. https://t.co/Id9T05Dk2r
"Problem solved." That's it. That's the Trump plan. Handguns for teachers & assault weapons for mass murderers. Trump & NRA will make sure American mass murderers are the best equipped mass murderers in the world. https://t.co/PrVbu9D62d
"Highly trained, gun adept, teachers/coaches would solve the problem instantly." They'd stop assault weapons with inaccurate handguns? They'd do it without body armor? Most police bullets miss their target. When teachers' bullets miss, what will they hit? Kids. https://t.co/HXvFN7TRsR
In many areas, there is already a shortage of teachers. I predict that number will rise.
Having been a substitute teacher, I have observed that *educating* seems to have become a secondary priority – behind classroom management, social work, surrogate parent, psychologist… Removing disruptive students is next to impossible given the amount of documenting that must be done and the fear that funding will be decreased if students are removed. That’s in addition to dealing with parents who don’t pay attention until a student is close to expulsion… then you get the feigned, “Why wasn’t I notified,” when the real question is, “Why did you ignore all the communications from the teacher/school?”
So now, teachers are already expected to act as shields to their students in the event of armed invasions. Why not just add to that stress with the responsibility that would go with having weapons around children. I suspect the weapons would be loaded. Otherwise, what would be the purpose?
Young people have helped lead all our great movements. How inspiring to see it again in so many smart, fearless students standing up for their right to be safe; marching and organizing to remake the world as it should be. We've been waiting for you. And we've got your backs.
The media want to pat Trump on the back for what he said yesterday, and his little performance. Not realizing you can’t trust anything Trump says. And my proof of that are what he said about the Dreamers. When they had that meeting around the table, Trump told Sen. Durbin and Sen. Graham that he would support their bi-partisan bill but when they came to him he had change his mind. You can not trust anything Trump says. Nothing.
I’m in total awe of the extraordinary students in Florida. Like every movement for progress in our history, gun reform will take unyielding courage and endurance. But @barackobama and I believe in you, we’re proud of you, and we’re behind you every step of the way.
Parkland student Ashley Paseltiner explained it so simply, that even Trump could understand: "If a kid throws a rock at another kid in a sandbox, you don't give every other kid a rock."

Migration figures: Highest number of EU nationals leaving UK in a decade.
The number of EU citizens leaving the UK is at its highest level for a decade with 130,000 emigrating in the year to September, figures show.
But 220,000 EU nationals still moved to Britain over the same period, the Office for National Statistics found.
It means net EU migration – the difference between arrivals and departures – was 90,000, the lowest for five years.
The ONS said Brexit could be a factor in people’s decisions to move.
