The competent nominees aren’t willing to work for Trump so he’s left with the rejects. Like someone buying a Louis Vuitton off of a guy from the back of his van, yes it looks nice but I’m sure he’s not a authorized dealer.
Great Thursday Morning!!! What are you waiting for?!!! Go out and live your best life today!!! You don't need permission from anyone. 🙂 Have an amazing day. Let's get it!!! pic.twitter.com/fKjS7c0UUu
Comparison may actually be where the rub gets a bit raw for Trump, especially in terms of his immediate predecessors. Barack Obama had just more than 48 million total viewers for his first SOTU in 2010 on 11 outlets, and nearly 52 million watched George W. Bush’s post-9/11 first SOTU in 2002 on eight outlets. Adding to the con column, Trump did not beat the 45.8 million who tuned in for Bill Clinton’s first SOTU on ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN in 1994.
Which means Trump’s initial SOTU, the third longest in history, is now also the least watched address in nearly a quarter of a century.
Every couple of months or so I will call or text my oldest brother, I always greet him with “what’s going on black man.” It isn’t so much of a greeting as it is an understanding. It is a deep and powerful hug, an affirmation, a call to arms. It means both I love you and I’m here for you.
Let’s just get this straight: America as we know it is under attack by its own president, and many in Congress are aiding and abetting the assault. This is a most precarious moment for the country.

If Democrats ever needed proof for the midterms that the GOP is a threat to national security and is unfit to govern, this should do it. The Republicans cannot with a straight face claim to be the party of national security while carrying on in such fashion. And even if a congressman in Iowa or Michigan were to say he played no part in Nunes’s conduct, his or her reelection by definition would help return Nunes to the intelligence committee chairmanship and Ryan to the speakership. In short, Democrats can argue that if you vote for anyone with an “R” after his or her name, you are voting to hobble the FBI, expose our secrets to our enemies and help Trump escape the consequences of possible wrongdoing. Talk about a winning message
Mentally as well as physically Trump can’t be in a healthy place, because when every moment of his presidency is spent doing crooked shit. It has to take a toll on him both mentally and physically. The energy it takes to be a crook 24/7 has to be draining, and to be able to replenish that energy source on a daily basis indescribable. kInda like Darth Vader going to his special place and having his helmet removed so he can recharge.
To understand the world today we must understand slavery. Slavery is our country’s origin and was our country’s Achilles' heel. But this is hard history, and our research has shown schools are failing to teach it. #TeachingHardHistory#BlackHistoryMonthhttps://t.co/3ufu25gR39

Three lawyers representing Trump associate Rick Gates in money-laundering case against him have asked to be dropped from the case. Meanwhile, Tom Green, a lawyer known for hammering out plea deals, stays on as counsel for Gates.
That’s sad. I’m going to say this, maybe I shouldn’t but I will. Are they sure it was drowning? Lemon has made enemies of Trump supporters, who knows about some of those people.
All should appreciate the FBI speaking up. I wish more of our leaders would. But take heart: American history shows that, in the long run, weasels and liars never hold the field, so long as good people stand up. Not a lot of schools or streets named for Joe McCarthy.
From HOUSE PARTY to LOSING GROUND to GANJA AND HESS to I AM SOMEBODY, this list makes me swoon. A strong starting point for anyone who wants to learn more about the black cinematic canon. Delicious work here. https://t.co/rrYK7Hs95y

NYC: The New Civil Rights Agenda
In collaboration with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund
Stop-and-Frisk. Voter ID laws. Jim Crow Redux. Reparations.
2014 has more similarities to 1964 than we care to admit. We can’t forge ahead without looking back at a nation birthed in genocide and slavery, and marked by state-sponsored terrorism, debt peonage, lynchings, and redlining. How can we confront this history as a way forward? What is the new civil rights agenda? Who will lead today’s movements for racial justice?
Join New America NYC for a conversation on some of the most contemporary issues facing the US today and how we can begin to address them for a more just society.
