Where COULD we be if a handful of GOP Senators had this moral character?

Since none of them appear to, we have to follow Plouffe’s advice and do everything we can to flip the AZ and NV seats – and challenge the others with all we’ve got.

Indeed Dudette. I am sure your uncle enjoyed being with the boys and regaling them with all his wisdom and stories. I miss my uncles, auntie, family friends that have all passed on. My mom is 84 yrs old and the only one left of her siblings and friends she went to school with. So funny though, my dad’s 2nd wife passed, many of his long time friends have also passed, and he and my mom are still alive but don’t speak.

I was thinking the other day about the F.B.I. and its continuing attacks from the Republican Party and how damaging psychologically that could be to some Americans. The F.B.I. is being attacked day and night, I’m sure they are saying to themselves where is the justice. The average citizen says to himself or herself how can this be, how can a law enforcement organization come under attack by an entire political party and the three branches of government? But then I think about the sixties and the seventies and the eighties and the nineties and the 2000’s and how African Americans were treated by law enforcement agencies. You can check the F.B.I.’s record regarding MLK, the Black Panthers, the Black Power Movement, Malcolm X, the NAACP, SCLC, and any person or group that tried to seek justice for African Americans. This can’t be the same F.B.I. that jack-booted (Cointelpro) African Americans since its inception in 1908, that now acts so feeble when it comes to the attacks from the Republican Party. I try my best to be fair, but as a black man I tend to see things through the prism of being a black man, of being an African American. For some Americans the F.B.I. and by extension the Department of Justice are above reproach and cannot be questioned. Some of us know the Department of Justice, we know the F.B.I., and we know their history because we have the receipts. I have faith that in the end good will defeat evil and justice will overcome injustice, but in the meantime, everything that has a history should be examined in the bright unforgiving light of day.

p.s., this is a more moderate version of what I had written, it’s almost a new year and I’m trying to be gentler.

PBO was invited to William & Kates wedding but declined due to all the SS, security and work to accommodate a sitting president that he feared it would take away from the wedding. I assume it will be more low key and about the same amount of security for just the Royal Family that PBO and Michelle could attend. In fact I can see only MIchelle attending the ceremony minus PBO that way PM can’t be too upset. That A$$hole in the WH should not go to the Royal wedding for the same reason PBO didn’t go.

          • December 27, 2017 at 5:01 pm

If Trump was there, who would pay attention to him, shake his filthy tiny hand, sit next to him, blow him smoke? NO-BODY.

              December 27, 2017 at 10:46 pm

Harry would never invite Trump, for one because of his policies, but I’m sure in the back of his mind is the what that pig Trump said about his mother back in 1997 on Howard Stern about testing her for HIV if he had the chance to sleep with her.

But I think it’s beyond that and just fearing the idea of Trump’s reaction to Obama going, period.

Even were both Obama and Trump to be invited, Trump would back out for the same reason there has been no official visit to date: He fears the public reaction. He or his handlers know the British at large think he’s a pile of crap.

But this isn’t about politics. Obama is a private citizen, and Harry is not obligated to invite heads of state. These are personal friends.

          December 27, 2017 at 5:04 pm

There may be a larger issue here – bringing down Trump. I imagine the Brits are assisting with that so if President Obama doesn’t attend that may be the untold reason why. President Obama will do what is in the best interest of America

      GE Sheila.

It occurred to me last night that aside from TREASON, the reason the crisis this nation is going through now is so much worst than Watergate is because back then there were at least some principled people in Congress.

Now it seems there doesn’t seem a single GOP Congresscritter or Senator with an ounce of moral fortitude — they all seem to turn a blind eye to corruption, treason and betrayal of their (non billionaire) constituents because of donor dollars.

Aside from the illegitimate nature of Nov 2016 election, we’re where we are now because of Citizens United.

That misguided SCOTUS decision is the root of our current unbelievable situation, IMHO.

I’m reminded of a blog post by James Fallows over the summer where he cited the McCarthy hearings and a Senator asking McCarthy “Have you no decency?”

Apparently not a single GOPer in Congress today cares about decency — their only motivation is greed and dollars. 😦

        GE Arapaho415,

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas. Let me thank you for your spot-on comment about the current state of our country. I absolutely agree with you that the crisis we are going through today is worse than Watergate. As you so correctly pointed out, during the Watergate crisis, there were “principled people in Congress.” To be more specific, there were many principled Republican members of Congress who put Country before party. The same was true of the Justices on the Supreme Court, including those nominated by President Nixon. Most importantly, we still had an independent functioning Press, which was not easily intimidated by a president who relied on alternate and very powerful ideological media that enabled him to spread propaganda, lies and confusion to hide his crimes and enlist support from a substantial portion of the populace. I am quite certain that Richard Nixon would never have resigned if he had Fox News, Sinclair media, Breitbart, and the entire right wing media, as well as a highly partisan Congress that worshiped him.

Hello Nathkatun7 — thanks for your holiday greeting, and hope the same for you: that this season is filled with warmth, love and family. 🙂 ❤

Everything you said is true — and what the GOP is good at is offense, meaning regardless of who is in power, Dems are *always* on defense.

They're doing it now with this month's Alabama Senate election — and you just *know* that this GOP's attempt to undermine any notion of that the grotesque monster occupying the WH is an illegitimate "president."

Everything the GOP and their oil/gas oligarchs do on a daily basis is a living nightmare, and their aim is to irreparably divide this country. 😦

I think it’s more than just a tantrum — IMO, it’s part of the GOP “strategy” to ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK in order to rile up their base. Meanwhile, our corporate MSM do their part by framing “stories” (not actual journalism) as #DemsInDisarray aka Dems on the defense:

At a time that this country should be ON RED ALERT with our elected officials doing what they can to enrich themselves and their friends while doing their best to kill/imprison/remove/surveil the rest of us, completely irresponsible headline for both Microsoft and Vanity Fair: “Democrats are headed for a major clash over impeachment”

An unhinged POTUS could be handled with the 25th if there wasn’t an entire political party that is so corrupt, it’s being blackmailed by a hostile power into treason.

Those outside his immediate circle (and I’m including all of us in his immediate circle, just talking political folks here) have been too jealous, from day one, I’ve always thought. So many people “got it,” but they didn’t think of it, so they wander off down other lesser paths, looking for personal credit and glory, still un-found. Own worst enemies = many Democrats. Gotta love ’em.

^^^ Not sure that rambling made sense!

  52. December 28, 2017 at 10:01 am

There have been some articles lately that even if the Democrats retake the House and possibly the Senate, they may not begin impeachment because it would divide the country. I don’t know where this is coming from but anyone with any sense can see Trump is the biggest divider ever imagined AND he’s ruining our democracy and that is the most hideous rationale possible. So please, let’s everyone keep reminding Democrats that when Mueller and/or Schneiderman are able to come forward with findings, they MUST take action.

There’s so many things that have literally driven me bonkers this year, with everything related to the grotesque monster occupying the WH and his equally greedy and amoral Cabinet — but I also feel like I’ve been living through déjà vu all over again (to quote Yogi Berra).

Love your little nuggets of knowledge:) I think that they hacked the RNC as a diversion to say, “See, we hacked those, too!” but never weaponized them to the public…they WOULD have, had someone with knowledge of the plan gotten a case of morals….but as we can see, that never happened.
