    The GOP Tax Scam

The tax plan has been marketed by President Trump and Republican leaders as a straightforward if enormous rebate for the masses, a $1.5 trillion package of cuts to spur hiring and economic growth. But as the bill has been rushed through Congress with scant debate, its far broader ramifications have come into focus, revealing a catchall legislative creation that could reshape major areas of American life, from education to health care.

    Good Morning Rikyrah and TODVille.

Congrats in order for an excellent performance, Rikyrah.

Yes, this tax reform is a sadistic but speedy redistribution of wealth upward.

Sadistic is just the word to describe this tax reform bill. At least back in the day a robber had the decency to wear a mask as he robbed you.

So I see McCain is a yes vote on the fuck over the average American bill.

I tend to post news and tweets that may be of interest to TODVille. In fact, I get to know a variety of news by reading this blog. It is with that spirit that I post frequently and fervently. It was never my intention to affect sensible emotions or delicate palates. That said, I think it is newsworthy to let you know what we suspected for a few weeks.

White House readies plan to replace Secretary of State Rex Tillerson with CIA’s Mike Pompeo in next few weeks, two officials say

The White House has prepared a plan to oust embattled Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and replace him with CIA Director Mike Pompeo, who has become one of President Trump’s most loyal and politically savvy members of the national security team, two administration officials confirmed Thursday.

The plan, hatched by White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly, is expected to be set in motion over the next few weeks and has broad support within Trump’s inner circle, the officials said. But it was unclear whether Trump had signed off on the plan yet, and the president has been known to change his mind about personnel and other matters before finalizing decisions with public announcements.

Under the plan, Pompeo could be replaced at the CIA by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), one of Trump’s most reliable defenders and a confidant to some leading members of the administration’s foreign policy team.

Is this the same Tom Cotton that wrote a letter to Iran begging its government not to sign the Iran Nuclear Agreement with President Obama and the other world superpowers?

      November 30, 2017 at 11:30 am

Has Cotton even been vetted to become head of the CIA? My god, this is the CIA we’re talking about.

The whole (Dotard) administration is a departure from all norms, a divorce from established procedures, simply a nightmare. I just don’t know how long we can take it.

        November 30, 2017 at 1:24 pm

Without Congressional oversight, the only “vetting” the Trump team does is to assure that the nominee will kiss Trump’s ass sufficiently.

I hope this racist idiot gets eaten alive at CIA.

  7. November 30, 2017 at 11:32 am

    hat tip- BJ

    1. The individual mandate repeal would cause health insurance premiums to rise sharply and millions to lose coverage.

    2. The CBO estimates the bill’s automatic spending cuts would slash Medicare by $25B annually.

    3. It would blow up the deficit by at least $1.4T, providing Republicans with an evergreen excuse to cut popular New Deal programs. (Lil’ Marco has already admitted this.)

    4. It would hurt the poor, the middle class, students, retirees, etc., to give rich parasites like the Trumps, DeVoses, Princes, Kochs, Mercers, et al, billions in tax relief annually. Forever.

    5. It will exacerbate the already critical problem of wealth inequality and undercut local blue state governments’ ability to assist their vulnerable populations.

  8. November 30, 2017 at 11:33 am

    I told you…

They’d sell their mothers to Lucifer for those tax cuts.

4/ More than a few Members have told me, “We have to get the tax bill out. That’s why we put up with him.” Now, that’s not *entirely* why they put up with him, but ride with that as the framing idea for a moment.— Rick Wilson (@TheRickWilson) November 30, 2017

Thanks to Trump’s own inability to control his racism and xenophobia, things have gone FAR beyond considering a royal wedding invitation, which was already DOA.

Outside of America, which has been beset by a combination of generally ill-informed (thanks to the GOP-enabling media) and Trump cultists, everyone recognizes a divisive threat when they see one.

The GOP tax plan designed to politically punish California & dramatically increase impact of CA state & local taxes moves closer & closer. 11 House GOP from CA have complete power to block. Instead, they’re caving to crass GOP politics at expense of CA families. Time to speak up.

  17. November 30, 2017 at 12:25 pm

important to understand why all GOP supports such horrendous tax bill

bc it’s not just a “tax” bill. it’s an abortion bill. it’s a gun bill. it’s a cut-Medicare and Social Security bill

and they get to pass it ALL w/o hearings or debate

There are stories you read that makes you blink numerous times, cause you can’t believe them

    This is one of them.

Close your eyes…count to 10, and then read.

Tens of Thousands With Outstanding Warrants Purged From Background Check Database

Tens of thousands of people wanted by law enforcement officials have been removed this year from the FBI criminal background check database that prohibits fugitives from justice from buying guns.

The names were taken out after the FBI in February changed its legal interpretation of “fugitive from justice” to say it pertains only to wanted people who have crossed state lines.

What that means is that those fugitives who were previously prohibited under federal law from purchasing firearms can now buy them, unless barred for other reasons.

After Trump was inaugurated, the Justice Department further narrowed the definition to those who have fled across state lines to avoid prosecution for a crime or to avoid giving testimony in a criminal proceeding.

On Feb. 15, the FBI directed its employees in the Criminal Justice Information Services Division to remove all entries of fugitives from justice from the background check database and said that “entries will not be permitted” under that category until further notice. Before the FBI memo, there were about 500,000 people identified as fugitives from justice in the database — and all of those names were removed.

    Now there are 788.

I also see articles that are meant to demoralize Dem voters in Alabama by pronouncing that Jones will not win. The truth is that, yes it is traditionally a very red state but no one knows for sure what people are going to do when they actually vote. I wish to caution people that sometimes we miss the stuff that is happening in privacy and are stunned by the actual result. One of the things we could do to help out Jones’ campaign is to contact our friends and relatives who live in Alabama and encourage them to go out and vote

Senate GOP tax bill would add $1 trillion to deficit, report says, contradicting White House promise that plan would pay for itself

Senate Republicans’ tax plan would add $1 trillion to the national deficit over 10 years, even after the economic growth that the bill would create is taken into account, Congress’s nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation reported.

The analysts projected the plan would increase economic growth by a yearly average of 0.8 percent over the next decade, but they said the tax revenue produced by the growth would fall far short of offsetting the bill’s costs.

Several Senate Republicans have said they would be hesitant to support a bill that adds to the deficit, a potential hurdle for GOP leaders as they seek to pass the measure late Thursday or Friday.
