Even this woman, who works for her, uses lower case for flotus in her case. And this might be stunning if Mrs. Obama had approved it, but (I freely admit) because it’s the current thing in that role, it looks hideous to me.

The Dotards aren’t invited. If by protocol they have to be invited, they will be in the stables, away from the horses. I somehow don’t see this as heads of states kinda invite. The Obama’s are definitely on invite list, more so because of that relationship. Just my humble opinion.

      November 28, 2017 at 12:30 am

I don’t think it will be either the Obamas or the Trumps. The Trumps will be invited because, after all, the United States is still the closest ally of the United Kingdom. The Obamas will also be invited, mainly because they’ve developed such a close friendship with Prince Harry. I am sure the Obamas will go to the wedding because of that close friendship. Even though they may be invited, I doubt that the narcissist Trump will accept the invitation. Trump wouldn’t want to go to a public event where he would be outshined and outclassed by Barack and Michelle Obama.

    • November 28, 2017 at 7:18 am

Remember when Don the Con wanted to ride in the gold carriage? The Queen has refused to host the Trumps and forced him to cancel his trip to London. I doubt very much they’ll be invited to ruin the day for Harry and Meghan.

The Queen adores President and Mrs. Obama and both have worked on projects very important to them together. I don’t see how they’re not included.

GutiĂŠrrez is set to announce he is retiring from Congress on Tuesday, according to multiple Democrats familiar with the decision. The 63-year-old congressman has served his Chicago district since 1993 and is a senior member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

A Puerto Rican, Gutiérrez has been a lead proponent in recent weeks of providing federal aid to storm-ravaged Puerto Rico. While a strong critic of Trump, Gutiérrez was among the harshest critics of former president Barack Obama, whom he called the “deporter in chief” for ordering immigration agencies to deport hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants.

    FreedomWatch sues to remove Mueller
BY JONATHAN EASLEY – 11/27/17 04:36 PM EST

A conservative group filed suit on Monday seeking to remove special counsel Robert Mueller from the Justice Department’s investigation into Russian meddling.

Conservative lawyer Larry Klayman, the founder of the watchdog group FreedomWatch, filed a complaint in U.S. district court that seeks to force the Justice Department to investigate leaks from the special counsel, as well as “the obvious conflicts of interest among staff.”

The complaint against Attorney General Jeff Sessions and FBI director Christopher Wray states that “it is a criminal offense to leak grand jury information” and seeks Mueller’s removal.

Gutting net neutrality is a death knell for the resistance

    SARAH KENDZIOR
SPECIAL TO THE GLOBE AND MAIL
    ………………………..

For nearly a year, America has stood at the crossroads of a damaged democracy and a burgeoning autocracy. If net neutrality is destroyed, we will cross firmly into the latter, and our return is unlikely.

The threat to net neutrality highlights the reliance on social media and an independent press for political organizing in the digital age. Should net neutrality be eliminated, those avenues will likely become curtailed for much of the public or driven out of business due to loss of revenue. Without the means to freely communicate online, citizens will be far less able to challenge the administration. It doesn’t matter what cause someone prioritizes: The elimination of net neutrality will impede the ability to understand the cause, discuss it and organize around it.

Changes to Senate GOP tax plan may benefit Trump
BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY – 11/28/17 09:11 AM EST

President Trump may benefit from changes to the Senate GOP’s tax plan, The Washington Post reports.

A change being weighed by Republicans includes expanding a tax credit that lets certain entities decrease their taxable income. The change regards pass-through entities.

Pass-throughs are companies such as sole proprietorships and partnerships that are taxed through the individual code. Most U.S. businesses, including many small businesses, are pass-through entities.

Trump has investment stakes in about 500 entities that may be impacted by these potential changes, according to The Post.
“You hold interests as the sole or principal owner in approximately 500 separate entities,” Morgan Lewis attorneys Sheri Dillon and William Nelson wrote in a letter released last year by the Trump campaign.

Just heard on the radio that Prince Harry and Meghan will marry in an “intimate” ceremony in St. George’s chapel in Westminster (I think that’s what I heard — don’t quote me on location, but I’m sure others will bring accurate news here), and the date will depend on when Prince William and Kate’s third child is born (due date is late April, early May) — apparently nuptials will happens after the next Prince/Princess’ birth.

Missed a lot yesterday (partly because I was offline for most of day, mostly because I was stunned by the utter humiliating *disrespect* heaped on every. single. indigenous. person and their forebears by the grotesque evil occupying the WH (GEOTWH), and then catching up on the most adorable couple in the news now [Special Relationship indeed, LOL]).

But damn, this goddam adm. and the LEOs (law enforcement officers) they support without question, regardless of whether the actions LEOs take are moral or not.

GEOTWH is dismantling our democracy into enormous CHUNKS (not mere bricks) every. single. day. Not hyperbole — GOP is INTENTIONLY attempting to plunge this country into the second Great Depression armed by corrupt and lethal local jackbooted thugs. JHC.

Expect to hear more about this on Monday (saw very little on Google or Twitter yesterday):

    From the article:
“A week before sentencing, CBS News has obtained a memorandum submitted to the court by the attorneys representing former North Charleston Police Officer Michael Slager. In their argument for a lighter sentence the defense attorneys, Andy Savage and Donald McCune, say Slager did not lie about his conduct that day and they compare Slager’s apparent memory loss to that of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, CBS News’ Jeff Pegues reports.
Slager is scheduled to be sentenced next Monday, and one of the elements of the case being considered by the judge is whether he lied about his conduct and concocted a story about being attacked by Walter Scott.  Scott, who was black, was shot and killed by the white police officer after a traffic stop in April 2015. In video captured by a bystander, Scott is seen running away from Slager who fired eight shots at his back…”

    WHEN did he shut up?

McCain Tells Clinton To “Shut Up” Like He Did
    Newsweek
    Graham Lanktree

Senator John McCain says Hillary Clinton should not have published her book so soon after losing the 2016 election because it makes her look like she’s still campaigning and has nothing else to do.

“What’s the f—–g point? Keep the fight up? History will judge that campaign, and it’s always a period of time before they do,” McCain told Esquire magazine in a long interview Monday. “You’ve got to move on. This is Hillary’s problem right now: She doesn’t have anything to do.”

McCain, 81, spoke with the magazine about his recent cancer diagnosis and the mutual animosity between him and President Donald Trump. But he had sharp criticism for Clinton as well, arguing that the defeated Democratic candidate should have taken a page from his 2008 presidential run as a Republican against Barack Obama.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to marry in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle – and are planning ceremony themselves
By Hannah Furness, royal correspondent Olivia Rudgard, religious affairs correspondent
    28 NOVEMBER 2017 • 3:44PM

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are to marry in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in May, it has been announced, as is it was revealed they are planning the wedding themselves.

Ms Markle, a protestant who went to a Catholic high school, will be both baptised and confirmed ready for the religious ceremony. She also intends to become a British citizen.

The Royal family will pay for the wedding – including the church service, the music, the flowers and the reception, Kensington Palace said. The couple want a “fun” wedding to make the public feel involved in a ceremony that is likely to be televised.

Good day TOD! Given the daily dismal news in our country, I intend to enjoy every last little piece of info/gossip over the upcoming royal wedding the next few months:-) We need some pure joy to counter the daily assault. And I hope Michelle starts early in finding something truly spectacular to wear. Can’t imagine the Obamas will miss this one.

Has anyone else thought that the Obamas have had a hand in the acceptance of Meghan by the royal family? I believe their role on the world stage, as well as their close relationship with Harry, has shifted minds and hearts on the issue of race worldwide. Whie DT can do his damnest to try to erase PBO’s legacy, having the Obamas in our homes on a daily basis for 10 years now has changed everyone’s perception worldwide. And it is good!

Finally, I am thrilled that “Nancy and Chuck” declined to meet with DT after his nasty tweet this morning. Consequences. And time for the Dems to visibly stand up to him.

    • 160 Sandy1110
      November 28, 2017 at 5:42 pm

Yes Foxfire, I also believe that the Queen’s friendship with the Obamas has helped the acceptance of Meghan into the family.

I’ve seen several comments that Harry is her favorite grandson – not sure if that’s true, but she did participate in that Invictus response between the Obamas, Harry and Justin Trudeau. Maybe it was the combo of Harry and the Obamas that persuaded her!

I’m hopeful that if Meghan continues to receive too much ugly commentary from some odd corners of the British press, that the Queen might step up to help quash it…another unprecedented move!

I sincerely hope we see the Obamas and the Trudeaus side-by-side at wedding of the new Windsors. Meaghan is apparently already tight with Sophie Trudeau – so much friendship, love and style in one place is really something to look forward to in May.
