Good Morning TOD Family! Another day in Alice’s/America’s Disaster-Land. We WILL recover from this one day I just don’t think many of us will see it fully recover unless we see a REAL change in people waking up to the disaster that is the GOP. Until we get rid of GOP governors, SoS’s who control our elections, representatives and senators that work only for the rich.

Special {{{Hugs}}} to desertflower and her precious Sadie who crossed over the rainbow bridge. Sadie was with you for a short time but she gave as much love as she received from you & entire family. Your TOD family sends you much love and support for your loss.

DF, I was so shocked to read that Sassy Sadie has returned to heaven. She was with us briefly, but brought so much love and laughter while she was here on Earth.
Thank you for sharing her with us. I grieve with you. 💕

Gary Cohn: Trickle-down is good for the economy
So what do Trump and his team mean when they use the phrase? As we discussed last week, Gary Cohn, the director of the National Economic Council at Trump’s White House, shed some light on the subject when he sat down with CNBC’s John Harwood.

HARWOOD: Are you thinking that you’ll deal with that Social Security/Medicare/baby boomer retirement issue later by entitlement reform that reduces benefits?

COHN: Look, the president on the economic front laid out three core principles. Number one was [regulatory] reform, number two was taxes and number three was infrastructure. We’re working our way methodically through [regulatory] reform, taxes and infrastructure. I think when he gets done with those, I think welfare is going to come up. That’s our near-term economic agenda right now.

Social Security, Medicare ARE NOT WELFARE PROGRAMS.

    From Forbes

Six Senate Democrats requested an investigation of Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross on Monday, following reports that he apparently lied about his net worth and held onto investments in a shipping company that does business with a Russian enterprise partially owned by associates of Vladimir Putin.

In a letter to the inspector general of the Commerce Department, the lawmakers also asked for an investigation of Wendy Teramoto, Ross’ chief of staff, who worked with him for years at his investment firm WL Ross & Co. before joining the Commerce Department.

Senate GOP pushes tax hike on families making less than $75,000
    11/17/17 10:00 AM—UPDATED 11/17/17 10:17 AM
    By Steve Benen

The tax bill Senate Republicans are championing would give large tax cuts to the rich while raising taxes on American families earning $10,000 to $75,000 over the next decade, according to a report released Thursday by the Joint Committee on Taxation, Congress’s official nonpartisan analysts.

President Trump and Republican lawmakers have been heralding their bill as a win for hard-working Americans, but the JCT report casts doubt on that claim. Tax increases for households earning $10,000 to $30,000 would start in 2021 and grow sharply from there, JCT found. By 2027, most Americans earning $75,000 a year or less would be forced to pay more in taxes, while people earning more than $100,000 a year would continue to pay less.

It’s worth emphasizing that the Joint Committee on Taxation is basically the Congressional Budget Office for tax bills. This isn’t a think tank or an advocacy organization; this is the congressional office responsible for scrutinizing tax bills for federal lawmakers.

And right now, that scrutiny is telling senators that the current Republican legislation would raise taxes on American households earning less than $75,000. If the GOP’s goal is “tax cuts for middle-class families,” the Senate Republican’s proposal does the exact opposite.

The Republican tax bill contains a sneaky break for private jet owners

    Bob Bryan

One of those exemptions in the Senate version of the bill, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), would give a break to owners of private jets.

Currently, the federal government imposes an excise tax on the use of private planes for every flight an aircraft makes. Under the Republican tax legislation, costs for maintenance and other support activities for the planes would be exempt from the excise tax.

  18. November 17, 2017 at 1:27 pm

Here’s why: budgetary rules known as statutory paygo (short for pay-as-you-go) call for automatic spending cuts if Congress enacts bills that have the net effect of increasing the deficit by the end of the year.

Republicans are permitted under Senate rules to add no more than $1.5 trillion to the deficit over 10 years through their tax bill. That figure, says Ed Lorenzen of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, means there would be automatic cuts of up to $150 billion a year over a decade.

Say Congress does pass the tax cut before the end of the year, with paygo rules remaining in effect. Medicare alone would be cut by $28 billion next year, the CRFB has estimated, and mandatory funding for student loan administration, agricultural subsidies and customs and border patrol operations would be cut entirely. Customs and border patrol would still get discretionary funding through the congressional budget process, however.

This “post card” tax return filing is another GOP fantasy/lie. The big Corporations KEEP all their loop-wholes and probably MORE! The mega rich will STILL have hoards of CPA’s taking 10 months to file their returns that will be many pages long for all the loop-holes that the GOP will give them. We serfs will get a bill: PAY THIS AMOUNT or GO TO DEBTORS PRISON.

Now that the dogs of war are calling for the head of Senator Al Franken I believe it is time to speak up on behalf of all heterosexual males. As a candidate for Governor let me save my opponents some research time. In the last fifty years I was sexually intimate with approximately 50 very attractive females. It ranged from a gorgeous personal secretary to Senator Bob Taft (Senior) who was my first true love and we made passionate love in the hayloft of her parents barn in Gallipolis and ended with a drop dead gorgeous red head who was a senior advisor to Peter Lewis at Progressive Insurance in Cleveland.

Now can we get back to discussing legalizing marijuana and opening the state hospital network to combat the opioid crisis. I am sooooo disappointed by this national feeding frenzy about sexual indiscretions decades ago.

      I see where he’s going.
Tally’s piece on Franken was spot on.
RightWingers have had it for Franken since The Air America Days.
I am sensing a Set Up with the Bad Juvenile Picture as interpreted by those who have Agenda & those in the Press who are looking for WhatAboutism.

Consensual BJ! Monica had designs to have sex with the President from DAY ONE! Ken Starr and the GOP used Monica as a tool to embarrass Bill Clinton in the that Monica was collateral damage was no skin off their nose. The GOP & Ken Starr and poor choices Monica made, damaged life.

The other women that came forward were also used by the GOP to damage Bill Clinton that their stories about his sexual harassment were secondary to just wanting to bring him down. These women continue to be used by the GOP that they just get NO traction. Using THEM to now DAMAGE the wife (HRC) who chose to stick with him was disgusting. That is why Orange Satan will get his due, big time!

You are right. Every woman I know who served in the military has experienced some form of sexual harassment and/or sexual abuse from their male peers or superiors, in some cases, including rape. Every one of them. [Did I mention I come from a military family? Grew up on military bases and worked around them all my life.]

I remember in the early 80’s when the economy of in the toilet, I was thinking of going into the military. One of the guys in my college class told me how women are really abused in the military and told me to rethink it. Glad I did.

Kayla Moore’s words demonstrates how uninformed these Moore supporters are. Russia is in the news everyday. They are so hypocritical. I imagine most of those women standing behind that podium today have daughters or granddaughters. They have no compassion. Be careful of folks who talk about religion all the time. Mike Pence is a prime example.
